Deep into the file already, Vic lingered on the victims profiles and testimonies. The cappuccino mug was long forgotten on the table, cold and probably would taste like plain sweet water if he picked it up. He looked for the photos of the locket and the photograph next, and Wes mentioned going through her book shop and hidden potions lab. Wait a second... Aubrie? As in THAT Aubrie Hampson? Oh good, Vic was starting to recognize his fellow employees. And he needed parchment. And quills. And lots of time to write down some notes, this case was somewhat complicated. "Mr. Ferguson said the witch confessed stealing time, didn't he? That tells me she's not a sneaky criminal doing it because she must. She has no guilt over what she'd done, she's a..." psychopath. "... sane criminal." Which makes her and her lawyer tricky. He stared at his companions, offering a nod to the new woman walking in. "That's.. interesting, don't you think?" He leaned back in his chair and crossed is arms, "I need to read the details about her capture. Maybe even look at the evidences kept in our vaults." Just to feel more into this case. "I agree wholeheartedly on one thing though; It looks like we are ready to go to court." SMIRK. |
everybody :D "All right, thanks Roxanne," Wes replied finally, giving her a small smile despite his overall puzzled expression. He slid his wand out of its wrist holster and sent off a quick wolf-shaped patronus, then let himself back into the room. "Okay, where were we?" Wes was pleased to see that Emma had slipped in while he'd been outside. "We have a good case here, yeah? You all agree?" Prosecutors? |
"From what's in the file the case against de Talone looks good. We should be ready to go to trial, it starts next week right? That being said I think Ludovicus has the right idea about going through the evidence. As you know I wasn't exactly at my best when we started the investigation and even though I paid attention to the case some of the events are still a little fuzzy. I trust we'll have access to all employees that were involved in the investigation up until now both before and during the trial should we need their testimonies or clarification on events and evidence they collected?" Skander questioned, going straight back into professional mode when Wes came back into the room. While the evidence seemed good on paper there was no guarantee it would hold up in the trial, especially if witnesses fell through or evidence was called into question without them having any way to counter it. "Also, I think either Ludovicus or I should do a little digging into de Talone's lawyer. If he's been handling her affairs for awhile he may be more involved than legal counsel normally is. Even if he isn't it's best if we can figure out how he's represented clients in the past so we can attempt to figure out counter-arguments before the start of trial. I don't want to be surprised in court and then have her get away with her crimes on a technicality," he said seriously, looking over at Ludovicus to make sure he was on the same page. They would be working together on this and it was important that despite the fact they hadn't met before this very meeting, they be on the same wavelength when it came to how the trial would proceed. |
Text Cut: Emma, Skander, Vic and Wes Rodrigo nodded as Skander explained his position in the MLE. He had figured that the young man had worked for the Wizengamot, based on his inquiries earlier. But one of the few things the Spaniard had learned in the Ministry before he unexpectedly left was to not assume. He was glad that Skander appeared to think the same way. "How guay, er, I mean. . . cool," the Spaniard chuckled. Sometimes his native tongue slipped out. But before he could continue the conversation, a woman walked in, clutching a cup of coffee and apologizing for being late. He nodded, wearing a warm smile as Skander explained what was going on. And speak of the devil, Wes came back in at that moment. Rodrigo drained the last of his espresso and was satisfied that the caffeine was finally kicking in. He nodded to Wes before he placed the cup on a nearby table and turned to rummage through his bag. He retrieved a roll of parchment and a replenishing-ink quill and began scribbling some personal notes on the de Talone case. "Well, who do we have to testify against de Talone?" he asked, for he wasn't sure if his question from before Wes' chat with Roxanne was answered sufficiently. "I mean, the evidence clearly does go in our favor. And she's confessed to it. But having witness testimonies, especially a couple of the eighteen or twenty so victims would make our chances of winning that much more solid." He shrugged, hoping his input was good. He was just a stenographer, after all. |
Text Cut: Skander,Vic, Wes, Rodrigo Emma smiled good, so she hadn't missed much. She nodded a thank you over to him just as Wes walked back into the room. She took another drink of her coffee as she flipped through the case file. "Yes." She couldn't see why they weren't ready. Before the trial started they could look over the evidence and dig into the lawyer like that one guy suggested. Maybe speak to the employees that would be speaking at the trial. Listening to the other guy she nodded in agreement, "Yes I think it would be beneficial to have a few of the people frozen at the school and one of the students that were frozen at the bookshop be a witness for us." She glanced down at the file, Nerida Eventide or Nate Jones... "Evidence can be said to have been compromised or tampered with but with a witness its harder to prove wrong especially when we have so many it will be hard for Mr.Edgeworth to say anything against their testimonies." |
Skander brought up a very good point about De Talone's lawyer, Vic nodded at him. "It's possible. How do we know he's not five hundred years old as well?" They might've sucked those years together and... well, there goes Vic mind toward a dirty version of witchcraft. Clearing his throat he leaned forward on his elbows, "It doesn't hurt to look more into his credentials. But in general, we do have a good case." He repeated, giving the folder in his hands a lopsided smile. As for the witnesses, Vic gave that a long moment. There were so many involved in this case, it seemed like De Talone was pretty clumsy or careless when it came to being sneaky. "There are a lot of people involved in this case. I prefer that we make a list of those involved and whose testimony will be of significance in trial." Pause. "Bringing over the boy whose wand was stolen during the Hogsmeade confrontation, for example, is good. He was underage too, that must be a good impact against De Talone." He looked down at the file again and ran a hand through his hair, scratching the nape of his neck. |
SO SORRY you guys have been waiting on me I'm the worst please accept my apology :( Wes listened to the rest of their brainstorming thoughtfully, grateful that he had a good team here with good ideas. "I'll take care of the contacting of witnesses," he spoke up. It was only his duty as a department head, since they would be needing passes into the Ministry and all that. As for the digging into de Talone's lawyer... Wes couldn't help but shake his head. He felt like that would be a dead end, unless he really WAS over 500 years old. But something told him de Talone wouldn't have wasted her precious time sharing her potions secrets with an already-old lawyer.... anyway. "If you guys want to question Edgeworth, see what his plan is before trial, he's still out there in the Evidence Lab." Wes craned his neck toward the door. "Want me to get him?" He half-stood before they said yay or nay. |
Her desk, despite its ostentatious size, was proving to be quite small for some tasks. She was also expecting a visitor from level one, sadly, not Mr Senior Undersecretary, but the Junior counterpart. As a result of this, Emily had decided to set herself up in the conference room this morning. She was seated not at the head of the table, but somewhere in between, a mug of coffee off to the side, untouched. Leaning forward in her seat, Emily shuffled around some papers, eyed them critically, signed and returned them to the bottom of one of her piles before ticking one of the boxes on her checklist. A brief glance at her watch told her she could be expecting company any time soon.... |
The escort requirement wasn't all about security. The maze known as Level Two could be confusing at times if one wasn't familiar with the turns and all the doors and doorways. Was it any wonder that some YATI's looked nervous the first day given what they went through to get to the office? "Here you are," he said pausing a moment to knock on the door to alert Emily should she be inside already. "Good day," Simon added with a polite nod before turning and continuing on his own way. |
Quote:
When they stopped, he looked at the door and to the guy, this doesn't look like the office of the Department Head, but then again, the letter said conference room. As he saw Mr. Bennett knocked, he smiled at him and nodded, "Thank you for that, Mr Bennett." Zach said as he looked at the guy as he was walking away. Now to wait for Ms. Browne to let him in. |
Scanning the large map on the table in front of her, Emily wrote some notes in her pad before looking up from her work. Knocking. So he was here, then? That, or it was her people. “Come in!” she called while attempting to sort some papers into piles. She had risen from her seat and taken steps in the doors direction. |
Quote:
"How are you today?" he asked just to break the ice. |
Quote:
"I'm well, thank you, yourself?" she replied, moving to pull out a seat. Emily gestured for him to do the same, conducting business standing up wasn't for everyone, even if it would suffice for her. "How can I help you?" |
Quote:
And to business. "I am here to conduct a simple survey, well, more of a inform you and ask for your opinion." he started. "We are planning to impose uniforms for everybody. In which case, I would like to ask you of what you think would be the perfect uniform for the employees of this Department." well that explains it in a short form. |
Quote:
At the mention of uniforms, Emily nodded. She'd heard the rumours on the grapevine, and she wasn't disappointed, on the contrary, she thought it was an excellent idea. It was high time the ministry got its act together, they needed to exhibit a high level of professionalism and unity, things which had been lacking that a uniform could begin to instill in the mindset of her employees. "Well," she started, pausing to consider her words carefully. "Ideally, uniforms would need to be versatile... not restrictive in movement, not heavy, but not flimsy either.." what was the word she was looking for? "Durable!" that was the one. Durable. "I trust you can appreciate our need to be flexible and efficient when working between the office and the field." Because if not, then that would be problematic. She assumed by the term uniform, that they were going for a head-to-toe ensemble, so there were other factors in play, other accessories if you will. "Then of course basic, sturdy boots and gloves are also essential." |
Quote:
"That would be my next concern, would you rather have a separate attire for field work?" he asked. Knowing the the Law Enforcement is the largest department who conduct outside jobs and investigations. And speaking of ensemble, which Zach really wasn't going into deep context, but why not. He is in no context to contradict at the moment, but he deems boots are good but nor sure for people like him in the office and the gloves. Oh well, it is one for each of own. |

For him, a moderate field work is like his usual day of mountain climbing and creature chasing. But that was back in the days of his research. And I think there is no harm in asking, is there? |

... She sooooo wanted to play the confidentiality or above your paygrade card, but it wasn't.. so she obliged. "Tracking, patrol, active pursuit, arrest and take-down... combat," she said rattled off with a shrug, "with varying degrees of difficulty, intensity and duration." Of course, there was no stock-standard day. Some were busier than others, and her description would only serve to give Zach an impression, of their physical requirements. |
Sorry took forever to respond, birthday week coming... Quote:
He was coming to the conclusion with this interview. Wrapping this up will be a quick one. Zach fumbled across his notepad to see if he missed anything that needs to be asked. Slowly but surely he always say, but he never wanted to take much time of the Department Head. He cleared his throat and said, "So, would you think that a black pants is appropriate for field work? I am not saying that it will be but, just in case." he said not wanting to sound arrogant. |
Noooo worrrries ^_^ and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Quote:
At the sound of throat-clearing, Emily refocused her attention on the man, contemplating his question. Black? "Yes, black's fine.. so long as the fabric is flexible enough, allowing for free movement, there shouldn't be any trouble." In other words, so long as they didn't make them out of carpet, dragon hide, satin, suede or corduroy, they should be fine. Were there more questions? Or did he have everything he needed from her? |
