He shrugged some. "You can say that. Tying up a few events and getting a few other events into play." If he thought this year was busy, he'd need a year off after the next. Most of the planning still wasn't in place even. As she spoke he began packing the papers together, trying to get the table looking a little less cluttered and haphazard like. "I'm looking forward to the new Quidditch season. You'll have to keep me updated. Ashley and Ari are determined not to miss a match." Avery...was simply content with dressing up and painting her face. Didn't need a match to do that. "I'm good. Managing more like. You?" |

"It seems never ending doesn't it? Once you feel like your caught up more comes to your desk." She couldn't even imagine how much he had being at the ministers office. She knew she had a lot just with quidditch. The new quiddich season it was coming fast. "Sure, what is their favorite team again?" She plenty of connections now personal and professional. She could possibly get them a few things or even in the locker room. How was she doing, her smile probably showed it before her words. "I'm doing wonderful. Things have been going very well lately. " She was the happiest she had been in a long time. |

"That's the feeling exactly. I remember walking in on an empty document tray this morning and promising myself it wouldn't last." Which, in truth, it hadn't as anyone could see the fast receding sea of documents he'd had strewn across the table moments ago. Gavin didn't have to think very hard about their favourite Quidditch Teams. They made it hard to forget. "Montrose Magpies last I heard between all the screams." For a dying woman, his sister had lungs of steel, he'd give her that much. Oh? "That's brilliant. I knew things would turn around. What's been happening?" Through several months of meetings and social interactions he'd come to learn the correct procedures when carrying on a conversation. One day, he dared say he'd be a pro at them. |
SPOILER!!: Gavin Victoria even if it wasn’t meaning to gave a glare. She knew exactly what Gavin was speaking about and it was just a sore topic still with her. She was so incredibly annoyed with how that healer treated her and said she had episodes and whatever else he had said to her. Then there was that stupid letter that she knew he sent to Mariel. “Hazardous to my health, ppfffft, this place has helped my health if anything.” She honestly believed that few times. Throwing herself into her job was the only thing that kept her sane through many issues in the past two years. Plus she loved her job. She knew he was joking though so she did smile a bit, “Were you so lucky to be forced into taking a potion as well?” Though she was still proud of herself for busting the damn thing right in front of him. She chuckled, yes she could relate. Though she assumed he had plenty more paper work than should could ever imagine. “With trades, and retirements, then draft picks it seems like paper work has become our main job.” Though that part had died down now and it was time to get busy preparing for the season. Scheduling was going to be her main focus very soon. “The Magpies, good choice. I’ll have to see what I can come up with.” She gave her own knowing smile, he knew she never went back on her promises. Though she had to laugh with the scream part, “Girls can be a bit loud when excited.” Her girls were already loud at times. He had said that so she couldn’t say he was wrong, “Well work has been great, I have a great team in the quidditch area. So it’s been wonderful to lead them.” She loved being the manager especially when she could work with such a great group. “The girls are two now and talking up a storm. I swear they learn new words every day. So that’s just been fun watching them grow. Bart just went back to school, which I was thrilled with, but Cossy is there.” Yes Cossy, she grinned more. “I’ve been dating the potions professor from Hogwarts for a year now. Cosgrach Culloden. He’s such a sweet man.” She couldn’t be happier at the moment. “but I don’t want to talk all about myself. What has been going on in your life?” |
SPOILER!!: Vic As it turned out, the joke hadn't translated as well as he thought it might have. Story of his life. Gavin had always known that few could tolerate his sense of humour so Vic's glaring didn't bother him. It was the typical response when jokes were given from what he'd deduced...except Emily laughed sometimes...when the jokes weren't aimed at her. Then again she was of a certain questionable character. The point was, the joke wasn't funny and they would have to be moving beyond it, evidently. "I'll agree this place is hazardous for my health." No problems admitting that. Too. Many. People. It was that simple. "But no, as a trained potioneer I don't take potions I had no part in brewing without a thorough detailing of the contents." That was how people outted you and stole your dashing good looks. Everyone knew that. There was nothing to do but nod along as she explained what their lives had become. It could almost be considered a shame when your life was eaten away by paperwork. "I'll leave you to it then. Don't suppose it matters much where we sit once it's decent." His sister and nieces might have said otherwise, but they weren't here, were they? And ugh wasn't that the truth. Girls were the loudest little things he knew. "You should have heard them at their little sleepover to see Zeke off." Horrible idea he'd never revisit. While she clued him in, Gavin made a mental note of all the new things. Girls had turned two--ugh, the chatty phase--her son was back at the death trap they called school and something about a Cossy? He brows rose given he was lost on where the conversation had gone until he was caught up with the explanation that followed shortly after. He nodded slowly, unable to shake the thought that his friend went through men quickly enough or perhaps he was slow on all things. Who could really tell? "You've called me sweet more than once. It leaves me questioning your opinion on this Culloden." He might have been teasing but there was some seriousness there too...somewhere. "I can't think of anything too exciting. You forget I'm a dull man that avoids most things in life." And for good reason too. |
SPOILER!!: Gavin She knew her reaction had come off too strong, “I’m sorry Gavin, I know I shouldn’t have snapped at you. It wasn’t your fault. That man just irritated the hell out of me. To tell me I have episodes and need to take a potion before even asking me a question. Then sending a letter to Mariel.” She grumbled a bit under her breath. “You would think St. Mungos healers would have sense to look at a person’s medical history. I’ve been to that place plenty of times the last few years.” Especially after the babies to deal with her issues at the time. Giving him a small smile and a little chuckle, “Yes, you never know when someone is going to end up taking a love potion or something.” She knew what she was taking at the moment, but she still found the entire thing comical now. Nodding she thought she’d send an owl today once she was back at her desk. Off season would be ending soon and maybe she could get them in the locker room or something. The small perks of the job she had ignored most of her career here, but once in a while she didn’t mind using them. Though to think about it, she hadn’t ever used them for herself. Bart not liking these teams it didn’t seem necessary. Plus, his step mother always used her own perks to that advantage with him. “I’ll let you know once I get something.” Awww and Zeke, Victoria enjoyed the young boy. “I bet they had so much fun.” “Now Gavin you are sweet, like right now you are asking questions as a good friend.” That was sweet and she couldn’t believe he didn’t see it. “Cossy is very sweet. He’s a very busy man though, so I don’t see much of him, but summer was wonderful. He took me to Turkey for a holiday. The girls adore him and well Bart is the reason we ended up meeting actually.” Who would ever believe her fourteen year old was the one that put her on a blind date. “You are not dull, you are dating a very successful, very wonderful department head, you have the cutest nieces, and from what it seems an influence on Zeke’s life as well. That doesn’t sound very dull Gavin Isaacs.” Not to her at least. |
SPOILER!!: Victoria The lack of positive response to teasing was expected but the apology was not. In fact it took him a whole nother minute to realize at which point he shrugged. "It's fine. I'm a big boy." He quipped, evidently not bothered. "And the last attempt at a joke I made had me buying Emily pastries every day for a month." Though it pained him to. Some where healthy but others, nothing but a chocolate heart attack in a box. "And those Healers were excessive. I got one of those letters about you as well. Magicked it into the bin and went on with my day." Like any other individual would have. Those floating notes were nothing but a waste of time. Gavin genuinely laughed at the mention of love potions. "Have to be especially careful of those with those women....Loranys and Ravao-something." They....were a little TOO hands on for his liking. He nodded appreciatively. "Thanks. I think I'll keep it a surprize til the plans fall through." Last minute treats got you shiny 'best uncle ever' badges and he still worked toward those, even with the higher standards Ashley had set of recently. Thank Merlin for Avery. The child was tickled pink by her own shadow. Bless her. "They had a blast, a loud one. You don't even want to to know what the house looked like the day after." It was one of those times he'd have been lost without magic. "Turkey. Wow. Look at you travelling. What did you do there?" Admittedly he'd never been to Turkey and couldn't begin to imagine what they might have been able to get up to there and it made him genuinely curious. The man was big on vacations when it was time for them. And as intriguing as all those facts were..."That speaks to the people around me and has nothing to do with how boring I am. A part of me thinks Emily's secretly into boring with all the excitement she gets in her life. Given the choice I'd stay locked in a lab all my life but I'm touched by the faith you have in me." With a cheeky grin to boot. |
SPOILER!!: Gavin He was a big boy, well of course he was, but it didn’t make it right that she was negative when he was clearly joking. She couldn’t help but laugh though. Somehow she could really picture Gavin getting Emily pastries. “Well it’s not so hard to bring the one you love gifts even if it’s because you got yourself in the dog house.” They had been dating for awhile, she figured saying love wasn’t going to be a problem. Though she raised a brow just in case, it was Gavin you just never knew. Oh so he had gotten a letter too? “Wow and you didn’t throw me into St. Mungos with a straight jacket, thank you for that.” Now it was her turn to joke a bit, she knew he wouldn’t have. He knew her better than that. She didn’t know who the women he was referring to were, but figured healers. If they were anything like the man she was glad not to run into them. Understanding she gave him a nod. “It’s always fun to surprise children. You become the hero for the day. I can’t remember the last time I got to be Bart’s hero.” She thought for a moment, he hit teenager and she was as good as a quidditch fan just hoping to see the good plays. “Glad to see they are all getting along so well. Sleepovers can be fun.” Before she knew it the girls would start wanting them, but she’d enjoy toddler age while it lasted. Thinking back on her trip Vic couldn’t help but beam and her happiness spread on her face. “It was gorgeous there. The beaches are just wonderful, the water so clear. Cossy took me on some cave tours and exploring some of the towns. Shopping of course.” There was always shopping while traveling. “You should go sometime.” If he liked traveling. “Gavin you are not boring, stop selling yourself so short. Emily is very lucky to have found someone like you.” He was a great guy and their friendship over the years had just made her surer of that. “I will always have faith in you, you have never given me a reason not to.” Giving a small smile she looked at the time. “Goodness, break over already.” Wow that had went fast. “I have meeting with the Falcons I need to be getting to, but I’m so glad we had a chance to catch up.” |
