The Seating Area Right as you exit the areas set aside for the main buffet, the juice bar, and the dessert bar, you'll come into a section filled with enough tables and chairs to accommodate the large number of employees working at the Ministry of Magic. There's really nothing special here. The tables and chairs are typical of those you'd find in any other cafeteria, with the exception of the multi-colored theme that seems fairly evident throughout the food court. So grab a chair; a red one, blue one, yellow one...whichever you'd like! Enjoy your meal, and please--come again! |
Hey, Ali! :D (Bazinga) Seeing that he was way too early for work that day, Architect Max Beaugard made his way towards the Cafeteria of the Ministry to get his morning chow. He usually won’t leave his house with an empty stomach, but lately he has this urge to start the day earlier than usual. Why? His youngest nephew happens to be in Hogwarts right now, and Max was uber delighted to have him finally in his old Alma Mater—all thanks to his other nephew; Mordred. As soon as he got his tea and blueberry muffin, Max unbuttoned his suit, sat comfortably on the chair and opened Ethan’s first letter for him from Hogwarts. Max grinned to himself as he was regaled by Ethan’s words—it felt like the boy was just beside him yapping all the good stuff that happened the other night. His heart swelled with pride too as his nephew revealed that Ethan ended up in Slytherin. “Silly boy. Your mother and father were both Snakes.” Although he did wonder about the Sorting Hat’s decision. It was very unlikely to put Ethan in a house full of sober kids; well at least during his and his sisters’ time, but the ancient hat knew better. Max folded the letter neatly and inserted it in between his moleskin journal. He took a sip of his tea, and unfolded the Daily Prophet with his other hand. Unnatural Gingered Harpy. “Ah yes. Some weirdo trying to have a good time.” But it was no joke, since the threat was somehow directed to student athletes, but ultimately to the Headmistress, yes? Max simply shook his head, smirked and continued to sip his tea. “It’s a good thing Ethan doesn’t play Quidditch. For once, I am happy he’s into that muggle sport called…boarding skate. Or was it skate boarding?” Even so, he's still worried. |
SPOILER!!: Max Victoria had left the house as she always did during the work week that she had the twins. Once she dropped the girls off with her mother and made sure they had all their things, since their father would be getting them for the rest of the week, she made her way to the ministry. It wasn’t until she entered the building that her stomach grumbled and she realized she had never taken the time to eat. She hadn’t realized how much Bart actually helped out in the mornings until just that moment. Making her way to the food court she just hoped it was up and running. Now that they knew what had been going and Mr. hero had giving the bug killer to departments things hopefully would be getting back to normal. Receiving her food and coffee Vic made her way to a seat and sat down to begin eating when something caught her eye. Trying to ignore the prophet in the man’s hand she shook her head and took a bite of bagel. Swallowing she just felt more annoyed at all the thoughts she was having. Hearing a comment from the man her brown eyes lifted. Yep he was reading that bloody article. “Ridiculous all of it.” She couldn’t stop shaking her head. “They best be finding the wacko that wrote it to make sure he or she doesn’t waste anyone else’s time.” Did they know how many owls she was getting over this? Teams were not happy about any of it. |
SPOILER!!: Victoria That reminds him, Ethan’s birthday is drawing near and he needs to get his nephew a nice present. The young teenager wanted a new skateboard, but Max has no idea where to get one. The man turned the page of the Prophet and read the advertisements, hoping to get a clue as to where he can buy the damned skateboard or anything that will make Ethan happy. It has to be special though, because reasons. Max brought the cup to his lips but paused as soon as he heard someone talk. Apparently the woman was talking to him since it was just the two of them; seeing it was still an ungodly hour to be in the office. The architect felt a little bit uncomfortable with the situation. You see, the man is an introvert. He doesn’t converse much with the others unless it was Anthony—his boss. But then again, it was the perfect opportunity to make friends, no? “I say it’s immature. But brilliant, nonetheless.” Sip. He said as he folded the Prophet neatly and placed it on his table. “Threatening innocent students, to get his or her ultimate goal.” Parents of students must be very worried by now. Max wondered if Aldred and Mordred were already informed, although he was sure that Ethan must have gotten numerous owls from his dad and cousin by now. They were proper Slytherins, but big worry-warts when it came down to family. “Are you from the MLE?” because she looked stressed out by all of this. He was glad he didn’t belong to that department, although his sister would have been thrilled if she was still alive. |
SPOILER!!: Max “Brilliant? Threating the lives of children is brilliant?” She herself could say that she didn’t believe one word of the wacko that wrote the letter, but she wouldn’t call him/her brilliant either. “I would use many more words for this individual, but brilliant is not one of them.” Sipping her coffee she wondered about the mentality of the person she was sitting next too. Was he just amused by it all or did he really thinking that threating people was a brilliant idea. Her eyes widened at his words, “The ultimate goal and what is that goal? Ruining fun for children? Putting pathetic threats on something that is a fun, active sport, or throwing words around that make no sense what so ever.” Wasting money, that was the most ridiculous part about the entire thing. Oh it was too early for all of this and she rubbed her temples. Was she going to have to deal with this in the public for long? Not hungry anymore she pushed her bagel aside and just sipped her coffee hoping it would give her something to get through the day. His question threw her a bit and she realized how incredibly rude she must sound. When on earth did she get so bold recently? Giving a small smile to the man she set her coffee down. “I am terribly sorry, you must think I’m such hot head. You just hit a nerve I’m afraid.” She stuck out her hand. “Victoria Maroon, Division Manager of the Quidditch department.” Now did he see why he hit the nerve? |
SPOILER!!: Victoria Ah yes, right there. The problem with the majority of the adults is that they only see one side of the coin. Max understood where the lady’s coming from, but for a wacko to think of something that can easily manipulate his or her prey by using someone else’s unexpected weakness is brilliant. Well, who is to kid, anyway? Not everyone thinks the way he does. “Threatening the lives of children isn’t brilliant. But the wacko’s way of getting what he wants; whatever it is, is…” Max trailed off as he slowly bit his tongue to stop himself from further ruining the woman’s morning, especially now that he knows what department she came from. Max wondered what it’s like now in their area. “Please accept my apology, Ms. Maroon.” Pause. “I do have a different perspective on things, but I did not mean to upset you.” That will be weird and rude since it’s their first time to meet. “Victor Maximilian Beaugard, Magical Architect, Level Eight.” He said as he shook her hand. “You can call me Max.” “Is there anything I can do to help?” |
SPOILER!!: Max “I guess” was all she could really say in response to his answer of being brilliant. She saw it very differently, but to each their own she guessed. She loved sports, loved her job, but lately both were becoming more and more tiring. She finished off her coffee and placed it on the table. Her brown eyes scanning the empty area. Now that the Chizpufles seemed to be taken care of things could hopefully get back to normal in some ways. Shaking her head she wasn’t going to take an apology, “No need to apologize. You are allowed your opinion. I’m just being a bit edgy with all of it I guess.” She needed to calm down and she knew it, but her annoyance was high and her tolerance low. “It is very nice to meet you Max and please Victoria.” She wasn’t a fan of her last name as of lately. “and you did not upset me so please don’t think you did. Maybe I could buy you another coffee and make my rudeness up.” She gave him a little smile. She could use a refill herself. A small chuckled was released at his question, “Well unless you can catch this wacko and bring back quidditch at Hogwarts so scouts and managers would stop asking so many questions, or so they stop being irritated by the up security all pro teams have to go through because of this, especially my ex-husband’s wife who is one of those managers that are being the worst.” She grinned knowing he couldn’t, “I’d have to say no at this time, but thank you for the offer.” Enough about all of this though, “Architect, now that sounds like an interesting job. How is your level a mess like the rest of the ministry I presume?” All of the ministry was a wreck it wasn’t really a question now that she thought about it. |
Zoe! <3 She was still in a good mood come lunch time, and with the promise of a full stomach and delicious sugars, it could only get better. Right? Right? Well this Department Head thought so. She hadn't thought to check on Gavin, nor had she thought to drag Vic along with her. A little peace and quiet on a busy first day seemed only logical. After grabbing herself a chicken and salad sandwich,an apple pie, and double-shot coffee to boot, Emily took her tray to the main seating area, trying her hardest to ignore the still ridiculous multi-coloured chairs. What was wrong with black? Or grey? Did Cresswell know how tacky these looked? Did he? In the end, she claimed a blue chair, it seemed - to her - to be the most responsible looking of the lot. |
Quote:
But, Merlin, the cafeteria was colourful! Now what colour chair was he going to sit in? As if choosing his lunch hadn't been enough serious decision-making for the first day on the job. With a grilled chicken wrap, a piece of cheese cake, and a cup of coffee on his tray, Tancred made his way through the seating area. Where was Willy? He didn't want to eat his lunch all alone. Fortunately there was a lone brunette that looked like she needed some company. "Excuse me, miss," the man said, pointing at the yellow chair at her table with his free hand. "Mind if I join you?" |
SPOILER!!: Yellow-chair Man It was unusually quiet in here today, which didn't come as too great a surprise to her, had she not put in over-time hours this morning she wouldn't have been able to justify coming down for lunch. And people, were no doubt busy catching up and procrastinating at their desks with discussions of holidays and the like. How drab. It just wasn't for her to socialise. She made short work of the first half of her sandwich, the triangle of deliciousness no match for her appetite. Washing it down with a generous swig of coffee, Emily's hazel eyes followed a man as he neared her table. There were plenty of seats elsewhere. Did he need something? The strangers question registered with her, though she took a brief moment to contemplate a response. She didn't know what to make of the fact that he was willing to sit in a yellow chair. Yellow was simply rancid... something she'd been trying to explain to Avery for some time. It was the colour of weakness, and it was too bright and cheerful to be legal. "Not at all," she replied but a second after he asked. He was welcome to it, who was she to stop him? Public space and all. And.... was that cheesecake on his tray? " But I'm afraid there's a toll if you sit there... a bite of your cheesecake is my price," she gestured to it. Sweets were her weakness, one she wasn't ashamed to admit. It would after all be rude to eat it in front of her, and she wasn't above helping herself to peoples foods without their express permission. |
Quote:
"Sure thing," Tancred said, setting his tray down on the table and sitting down in the yellow chair. He was willing to sacrifice a piece of his cheesecake. After being a husband and a father for so long, he was used to sharing his food. Sharing was caring. Before his stomach decided to rumble loudly on him like it did in the lift, Tancred look a bite of his crispy chicken wrap, savoured the taste, and swallowed. Mmm. So good. "Whenever you want a bite, go for it," the man chuckled, pushing the plate of cheesecake closer to her. He took another bite of his wrap. "I'm Tancred Adara, by the way. New dragon commissioner in the Creatures department." |
SPOILER!!: Tancred Impressive, was the word that came to mind. The resounding sure thing had him ticking her boxes. He was welcome to sit - even if it was in a yellow chair, yes, and she was welcome to cheesecake... it was a beautiful thing. Best deal she'd brokered that day. "Brilliant," was her reply. Emily continued to observe the man, between bites of her own sandwich. He was attractive, and probably knew it, but he didn't seem at all narcissistic, which was a bonus... she had enough of that in her life. He just seemed... normal. "Oh I promise I won't hold back," she mused, smirking at the plate being pushed her way. Today was full of win, though she wasn't about to jinx it by saying so out loud. As it was, dessert couldn't be had between mouthfuls of savouries, it would only ruin the aftertaste, so no, she'd bide her time and finish her main meal first. The introduction was standard practice, one that she would have forgotten had he not initiated it, and it didn't escape her attention that he was one of them dragonologist people. Her favourites. But she refrained from passing comment. "Ahh, pleasure... Emily Browne, Department Head of Magical Law Enforcement," she rattled off, seeing as he started with the fancy titles first. She'd have been perfectly fine with being Emily, just Emily. |
Quote:
Promise to not hold back? Her words made him laugh quietly for a moment. Chloe or one of the twins would have said the same. But he knew that they would have eating the whole piece of cheesecake. "Just don't eat it all when you get to it," Tancred teased. He paused to take a sip of coffee and then added, "My kids would have gobbled the whole thing. They know cheesecake is one of my favourites." When the woman told him who she was, he nodded his head. He was familiar with that name. "Nice to meet you, Emily," he responded. So this was the department head for Law Enforcement, then? She really was as young as they said. "I've read about you in the papers. It's nice to match finally a name to a face." |
SPOILER!!: Tancred It amused her that he was returning the gesture, and indulging her with the staring game ... more or less. Though, she was blinking, even if not as often as most people usually would. Emily found herself returning the smile, chalk it down to the fact that she had food and her spontaneous company wasn't intolerable. She finished her crust, and afforded her thumb a lick so as not to waste the mayonnaise that had settled there. Don't eat it all? Well now was that a challenge? She'd have thought so, and would have been happy enough doing so, but she still had an apple pie to consume and if she was lucky enough, a treat later. "Mine too," she confessed, "Though I don't discriminate, anything sweet has my approval..." but onto more interesting things. Kids. Not that they were interesting, but he didn't seem a great deal older than her. "You have many? Kids?" she asked curiously. Had this conversation happened over a year ago she'd have cared less, but these things were fast becoming a common topic of conversation. "Likewise." Because thus far she was not regretting letting him sit here, and while she was at it, there was cheesecake to be had. Taking up her fork, she pulled the plate a little closer before spearing the end and raising it to her lips. It didn't get all the way to her mouth before he went and said that. The papers? .... "With all due respect, I don't care much for the media... they thrive on tragedy, controversy and their sole role is not to inform the community of news that is relevant to them, but to misinform them by feeding them propaganda against the very institutions which support their trade." Needless to say, she didn't want to know what it was that Tancred had read, it was probably a croc of a story anyway. Still, mentions of the Daily Prophet or other publications wasn't about to ruin her perfectly good day, and so with an appreciative smile, she popped the cheesecake in her mouth, relishing the creaminess. |
For Amanda/Esper! Pem was enjoying her lunch of fresh salad and veggies as she people watched the employees of the Ministry as they moved around the cafeteria. There were so many people to watch the young employee didn't know where to look first. |
Quote:
But now it was time to eat. It might be difficult finding a spot to eat, but maybe she would spy one of her new coworkers or acquaintances. Grabbing a sandwich, she scanned the room and-oh! There was Pem, sitting alone! Esper walked over to her friend and set her tray down, popping into the seat across from her. "Hi, Pem! Can I sit here?" she asked, mostly as a matter of politeness, as she was already quite comfortable in the seat. "I'm so excited that we're both working here!" Her friend was a sweetheart, AND their cats were basically siblings. |
Quote:
He nodded when she said that anything sweet had her stamp of approval. Tancred agreed with that one hundred percent, though he wasn't a big fan of acid pops that his boys raved about. Speaking of them, the conversation topic changed to children. "I have three, a girl and a set of twin boys. Third and second years at Hogwarts." And not a single one of them was in Hufflepuff. He was still shocked by that. "Yourself?" Watching as she made her move for the cheesecake, he noticed her pause after mentioning the papers. Was that a touchy subject? If it meant anything, he never said that he believed everything he read. "Very true, which is why remembering that there are multiple sides to every story is important." With that said, Tancred reached for his plate of cheesecake now that Emily took a forkful. From her reaction, it looked like he made an excellent choice for dessert. |
SPOILER!!: Tancred As fond as she was of apple pie, she was beginning to think she may have made the wrong decision where desserts were concerned for today. But she was in far too good a mood to make anything negative of it, no, she would have her apple pie... and then go back for cheesecake later. Win win. Pulling her own dessert close, she speared the edge with her fork, cutting down the crust and scooping the mouthful to her lips. Three? Did he just say ... three? "Wow..." twin boys too... that would have been work. Good for him, he lived to tell the tale. And then the question was directed back to her. "One.. a boy, he's ten and six months... or so he keeps saying." He was at that age, eager for his letter and all. She was about to take another stab her her pie, but she nudged the place forward a bit. "Wanna try?" It was only fair, she'd tried his, and as much as she usually disliked sharing, she was feeling generous today. It was good to know this one had some sense in his pretty little head. "Exactly that, and as objective as they often make themselves out to be.. well..." it went without saying what she thought. That much was evident. |
Ali/Vic ^_^ Caroline was enjoying a nice quiet lunch break away from the healer station. It was just nice to get out of her department. Eat some food that wasn't leftovers from the dinner before. Meet some adults. Most the time she was tending to the kids at the daycare. The kids were running full throttle today. Bruises was the big problem today. Kids will be kids right? She had the rare paper cut or stapled hand. Yeah not pretty. But the healer didn't get to come over to the food court much. If ever. So today she decided that's she could slip away long enough to enjoy herself. This was nice but it would be nice to have someone to talk too. |
Quote:
After grabbing some food, she looked around at the busy seating area. Why did she come here again? Moving to a place where she thought she saw an empty table, Vic noticed someone sitting. "Mind if I sit here? I promise I won't interrupt your quiet lunch." She wasn't sure which department the lady worked in, so she didn't know if she was trying to have some peace while eating. |

As he cut himself another forkful of cheesecake, Tancred could not help but smile at Emily's reaction to him having three kids, two if which being twins. It certainly was a great feat that he hadn't gone mad, especially with a bold female Lion and a conniving Eagle and Snake duo. He popped his fork into his mouth when she started talking about her boy. "I bet he's just raving about getting his letter, yeah?" He could remember how excited his kids had been at that age. She then nudged her plate toward him, offering a bite of her apple pie. The man gave her a look, figuring out whether Emily was serious or not. She didn't really seem like the sharing type. But maybe she had a soft spot for newbies at the Ministry. "Well, since you're offering," he said, reaching over with his fork. "Thanks." In regards to her latest comment about the media, Tancred simply nodded his head and put the pie in his mouth. Mmm. Pie. |
SPOILER!!: Tancred The thing she most liked about her apple pie over his cheesecake, was the cinnamon. She loved cinnamon, and the apple pie had the lovely warm spice mixed throughout. Emily chuckled lightly, flicking a tendril of hair over her shoulder as she leaned forward in her seat. "You're not wrong there. He checks the post twice a day, and peppers me with questions about Hogwarts the rest of the time." If he asked her one more time which House he would be in, she was going to lock him in a cupboard. "I'm thinking of letting him buy his wand soon, if only to shut him up for a while." Not that he'd be able to use it, but it would answer one of his million questions. He seemed a little hesitant in accepting her offering, which was fine, and if she was being honest with herself, she wouldn't much mind if he declined... but then he didn't. "You're welcome, but do me a favour... if anyone asks, this never happened." She had an image to uphold, and she rather liked the sound of Ice Queen. |
Quote:
Going back to finish off his cheesecake, he couldn't help put chuckle and roll his eyes at what Emily said about her child. The hope that the Hogwarts letter would come early ... the never-ending series of questions ... the boy sounded like the average kid to him. "It could work," Tancred stated, pausing for a moment before dropping some words of wisdom from one parent to another. "I wouldn't count on the silence lasting very long, though. Once they get what they want, kids tend to move on to the next thing rather quickly." And that was Parent Tip #1 from Tancred Adara. He raised an eyebrow at the favour she asked of him. The whole sharing of desserts was never to be shared with a single soul? Sounded like someone wanted to put on the façade of being a big, scary department head. "Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me." |
SPOILER!!: Tancred There was no doubt in her mind that if she didn't burn so much energy each day, she would surely be quite fat. Fat, and happy... because sugar did that to people, made them happy in ways that other things couldn't. Alas, she rather liked her body the way it was, perfectly functioning, fit and lean. It meant she could justify indulging more frequently, and there was no need for guilt. And see this is what has become of her life now. Great mother of Circe, how? ... She was listening carefully to Tancred's input or... advice, with regard to the whole parenting thing. She was still too new at it to really know what she was doing. Frankly, she didn't have a clue. "So then... what would do you recommend? Surely there's something that might placate him..." how hard could it be? Then again, all she had to do was think of Ashley and Avery and their list making in order to get a picture of the worst case scenario. Avery was the worst, by far, and there was no way she was going to let Zeke indulge in the same habits. "... It does get much harder, right? This parenting thing?" She had to ask, it was a burning question, and nobody she'd spoken to thus far had been able to give her a response she had the patience to sit through. Abandoning her pie, Emily timed her sip of coffee precisely so that she could hide her smile into her cup. There would be no more of that. By the time she set it down again, she managed to state quite simply, "Excellent." |
Quote:
When she heard a voice near by she looked up. "Oh no, not at all." She answered her with a small smile. At this point her lunch break was starting to get too quiet. Yeah that she didn't think that was possible. |
Quote:
Speaking of coffee, he brought the cup to his lips and took a sip. What would he recommend? Hmm. "All kids are different and will react differently. So the approach you take is your judgement call," Tancred started off, recollecting his experiences with his own children. "If there's something else that he really wants, in addition to the wand, you can say that he can only choose one. Or you could find something to distract him from his feelings and keep him occupied for the time being. In the end, it is important to set limits without ruling with an iron fist." The next question was another that made him think back on his years as a parent. Did it get easier? Yes and no. "It depends. There will always be ups and downs. But you'll be alright as long as you build a solid relationship with your child and have people around who will be a positive influence." That was really all a parent could do without going completely mad. |
Quote:
Taking a bite of her sandwich she looked around. "How very rude of me. Victoria Maroon." How could she have forgotten just to introduce herself. "My brain is so focused on work I think I forget my everyday manners at times. What department do you work in?" She had to work at the ministry if she was in the food court area, right? |
Felix held on tightly to his tray, lest it fall, as he made his way through food court's seating area in search of a empty table. He had no interest in just plopping himself down with people he didn't know, and didn't care to know. Felix was used to eating alone, besides, it wasn't all that bad.. Maybe he could catch up on some reading while he finished off his pizza. Grabbing a seat at a table near the main entrance, Felix comfortably nestled himself in for his first meal of the day (he'd skipped breakfast earlier, he wasn't much of a breakfast kind of guy). Felix took a bite of the first of two slices of pepperoni pizza, cringing in annoyance as the hot cheese burned the roof of his sensitive mouth. Damn cheese, it had probably done that on purpose. |
SPOILER!!: Felix With a freshly made chicken caesar salad and a delicious cappuccino from the buffet carefully balanced on a blue tray, Emma headed into the cafeteria to look for a seat. Now where could she sit? Her warm hazel eyes scanned the room, searching for either a familiar face or an empty table. Her eyes stopped on a very familiar young man who was sitting at a table close to the entrance. Aha! Hadn't she seen him in the meeting earlier that day? Should she go sit next to him? The blonde didn't really wish to interrupt; however, she really didn't want to go sit alone either. So she took a deep breath and approached her fellow colleague. "Um, excuse me. Mind if I join you? I promised that I won't be too disruptive," Emma said with a shy smile with a twinkle in her eye. |
Quote:
Felix had been about to perform a mouth cooling spell on himself, when his attention was grabbed by someone speaking to him, which was odd in itself, most people just left Felix to himself. Glancing up, Felix was met with the sight of an attractive blond young lady with familiar features... Where'd he seen her before? Oh that was right, he'd seen her during the conference for the department. "Hello," He blankly replied, blinking up at the young woman. She wanted to sit with him? Well, he had been hoping to sit alone, but something about the kindness of her hazel eyes made Felix reluctant to wave her off. "Um.. Not at all, have a seat," the young man said, adjusting his round glasses. "We.. Work together, don't we?" Felix stiffly said. He wasn't very good at interacting with people. |
SPOILER!!: Felix And then the handsome man said he could join her. Well wasn't he rather kind. She could see that he was only a couple years older than her. He was probably around Brae's age. Twenty six or twenty seven... He looked that age but he could be younger or older than that too. Anyway, Emma gave him a kind smile and placed her lunch tray down on the table. She was glad that she wasn't going to be sitting along at lunch and she hoped that her co-worked wouldn't mind too too much. She took a seat and unfolded her napkin. Then he had asked her a sort of question or was it a statement? The blonde didn't know.. Uhhh.... "Yes, we do work together. Same department. I'm Emma. Emma Malfoy. I work in the Ever-Locked Room," she explained as she nodded. |
SPOILER!!: Emma ^_^ Felix tried not to watch the young witch's movements too closely, he'd found that people didn't exactly enjoy his hobby of careful observation, in fact some people seemed to think it rather creepy. Still, he couldn't help making a quick study of the blonde. Yes, there was the kindness he had seen earlier, but there was also a cleverness there that he had missed, this girl seemed like much more than a pretty face. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Malfoy," Felix said, giving Emma a small smile as she introduced herself. Hmm, Malfoy, that was a rather famous last name she had there, it belonged to one of the oldest Wizarding families of all Britain and Felix found himself rather intrigued. "Felix Metei, I've just started in the Space Room, which... I've learned is rather sparse on employees," Felix added, his smile becoming ironic, showing his amusement. "The Ever-locked room... It's the love room isn't it? Rather curious thing to study," Felix added, with that same, cool amusement. |
SPOILER!!: Felix the friendly! She blinked a couple of times when he called her Miss Malfoy. Goodness, she wasn't used to people calling her that yet. Despite having a couple of years at the Ministry of Magic under her belt, she was unsure wether or not she'd ever get used to being called Miss Malfoy. She didn't mind being called Miss Malfoy- it was just that she was not used to it yet. Felix? That was a nice name. It reminded her of liquid luck. She grinned. "It's wonderful to meet you as well, Mr. Metei. Also, welcome to the Department of Mysteries." The Department was a fun one to be involved in. She raised her eyebrows curiously when he informed her that the Space Room was low on employees. He'd have plenty of room in there. "Indeed. We have a couple of people in the Ever-Locked room; however, its not nearly the same amount of people that we used to have," she explained as she thought back about her first year in this very department. There had been so many new names to learn back then. Then with a wicked grin, she leaned forward and added, "You can always come spend time with the Ever-Locked people!" Yes, she'd be glad to have a friendly face around the room. She took a sip of her cappuccino. Ooh. That was good. The food here was much better than the food over at the American Ministry. Emma raised both of her eyebrows when he enquired about the love room. Oh yes, she had gotten quite an interesting number of questions about her position so she often told people that she was an Unspeakable. She grinned. "Mhmm.. I'm a Love Specialist. It's pretty interesting," she explained, winking at him. |
SPOILER!!: Victoria Caroline smiled. "I've never been down here. I usually pack leftovers from home and eat down in the department." Because Merlin knows as soon as she would set down to get she would get called for one of the kids who bumped their head. Or something along those lines. "Oh I'm Caroline Delgado. Nursery Healer in the specialty area department. It's nice to meet you." She said poking around the slices of cucumbers in her salad. "What department do you work in?" Caroline didn't know many people out side of her department. It was sad she really needed to get out more. |
Quote:
She had never been down here? Well Vic could relate to being busy and not having the chance. "I know what you mean. I get so caught up working some days it's either to just skip lunch or eat at my desk. " Taking a bite of her sandwich she chewed quietly for a moment. Though it is nice to come down once in awhile. They do have pretty good food here." A nursery healer, well that sounded fun. "You know Jamie then?" She just loved Jamie, he was certainly one of her closest friends. He is such a sweet man." She beamed thinking about him. Always there for her. "Nursery Healer, no wonder you don't have time to eat. If they are like any of my children." There had to be plenty of work for her. "Oh I'm the Quidditch Division Manager in Games and Sports." Silly her for not saying that earlier, but Vic wasn't one to really say her department unless someone asked. She was super proud of her job, but never wanted to be one that bragged either. |
Deciding not to eat a packed lunch in her office for a change, Mariel ventured out of Level Seven to the Food Court. She really had to force herself not to take her work with her, she had been doing enough of that at home, but some of the names were starting to blur together from looking at the same parchments for so long so she knew she needed to give her eyes a rest from Quidditch, even if only for 30 minutes. But she still had this morning's copy of the Daily Prophet with her so her mind wasn't too idle and began wandering through a Quidditch Pitch anyway. Once she selected the Fettuccine from the main buffet area, the brunette carried that and her coffee over to an empty table. It was a bit more hearty than the lunches she normally had at work, but she did need an actual break today instead of trying to work through while eating half a sandwich. Taking a seat, she laid the paper open at the table, green eyes cast over it while she started in on her lunch. |
SPOILER!!: Mariel Walking into the seating area he balanced a heavy tray. It was weighted down with Dragon's Breath Stew, which sounded strange but interesting, Pomegranate Juice, Pumpkin and Cherry Pies and a Chocolate Fudge Brownie. He might have gone overboard when ordering his food but Dmitry could probably pack away most of it. He'd just need to hit the gym this weekend and he had the dance class tomorrow night to help him work off all the empty calories. Spotting a familiar face at one of the tables Dmitry made his way over, placing the tray down across from the first woman he'd met after making the move to London. "Do you mind if I sit here?" he asked Mariel. He'd find somewhere else if she wanted to be left alone, he could even head back to his desk and eat there if he had to, although Dmitry would prefer not to. Eating at ones desk was a guaranteed way to get people to ask you to do something for them. |
SPOILER!!: Dmitry An article about a poorly controlled magical fire had just caught her attention when a voice and request caused her to glance up. "Oh.. Dmitry, hello," she said with a smile as recognition quickly set in. It had been quite some time since she had seen the not-so-new-anymore Ministry worker. "Not at all, I certainly don't mind the company," she added, folding up the paper again to allow him more room for his tray. She couldn't help but to allow her eyes to rest on the amount of food that he had there. "Nice to see a healthy appetite, you must be working hard," she said with a grin. At least that was often the way with her, hard work made her hungry, as was the case today. "So how are things on Level Five?" As much as she dearly loved her department, it was all Quidditch all the time lately with the event planning and she was actually welcoming the chance to talk about someone else's work for a few minutes to break up her day. |
Lailaaaaa <3 Coffee was needed. Badly. Kade was behind on his sleep lately and it was definite catching up with him. So he was using his break as an opportunity to ingest some caffeine and wake up a bit. He glanced around the seating area, shaking his head slightly at all the colors. It both lightened the place up and made him feel like he was in a kid's playroom, but he wasn't going to complain. Not that there was anything to complain to. He took a seat on a red chair and leaned back, settling down to enjoy his break and his coffee. |
SPOILER!!: Mariel How were things on level five? She wanted to talk about work? Well, Dmitry would oblige. Taking a sip of his juice Dmitry thought about what he could actually say about work on level five. "Well right now not much is going on. We had a meeting earlier today and we're apparently going to be hosting the Council Meeting this year and there are some people that will be visiting over the course of the year as well according to Gidyun that security might be needed for. He hasn't given us all the details yet, but I'm thinking if we do need security I'll have to liaise with the MLE," he told her with a wry grin, recalling Mariel's dislike of that Department from when they'd first met. "Other than that we've really been trying to get the paperwork back in order. Most of the employee records were destroyed by the Chizpurfle's, including mine so I've spent time this morning filling it in and getting acquainted with new and returning employees," Nikki seemed nice and like someone he could get along with easily and although he hadn't talked much to Bhuvana he did hope that she settled in well. "Other than that I'm now the level five liaison so I'm going to have to try and familiarise myself with the Ministers Office in greater detail. What about you?" |
Quote:
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Vic's legs moved on their own accord, and he found himself standing behind the chairs opposite of Kade. "Uhh." Well?? "Mind if I join you?" They needed to have a small... talk. A good talk, a better one now that Vic knew things. |
Quote:
... It was Vic. Kade almost expected the worse, considering what he had done last time (and the only time) he had seen the man. But he would give the benefit of the doubt. A lot of time had passed between then and now. Maybe Vic wasn't here to cuss him out. "Of course," he replied, gesturing to the seat across from him. He wanted to immediately jump into an apology, but he figured it might be better to wait and see what exactly Vic had in mind for this. So, he settled with a polite, "how are you?" |
Quote:
... "Would you like--" He started to talk but let his companion finish his sentence first. "I'm good, good. Ya know, work and life. You?" His mouth pulled to the side in a smile. "Would you like a doughnut with that coffee?" Sharing food was kind of a big peaceful gesture on Vic's part. |
Quote:
So he smiled. "About the same. Life and work," he said. He immediately tried to think of another topic to ask, but Vic was faster than him. And... offering a doughnut. It would be rude to decline, right? And Kaden actually did want a doughnut. They looked good. "Sure. Thank you." Before taking a bite, though, Kade decided that he was going to get the apology thing over with. "Look," he said, "We didn't get off to a good start. And I realize that was my fault. I had no reason to... do what I did and I sincerely hope I didn't cause any trouble." Because he had very much wanted to cause trouble at the time of the... incident? Encounter? And now, with his conscious clear, Kaden ate his doughnut. |
Quote:
Vic heard him out till the end, a peace dawning over him because Fuller was saying all the right things. Vic wasn't an illogical man, he was never blinded by his emotions. "Apology accepted. I think it was more of a bad timing than anything, but no, you didn't cause any troubles." In fact, it was quite the opposite. Vic tried not to show his grin by starting on a doughnut himself too. "January told me that you two are, or were, good friends." She said they weren't anymore, Vic didn't want to be the reason for that. They were adults, they could handle those things reasonably. No need to kill any friendships. |
Quote:
And Vic accepted his apology. So Kaden supposed all was forgiven. Kade nodded slowly when Vic mentioned January. Were. "Are," Kade corrected. "As of recently, actually." It had kind of happened accidentally, which was probably why Vic wasn't aware of it yet. Kade was going to explain how it happened, but he realized that Vic might not care. So he just waited for the other man to say something else. |
Quote:
"Good." He finished his first doughnut and grabbed another. "Just like you don't like to cause troubles between us, I don't like to cause troubles between friends." Nice doughnuts, mmMMMmm. So since he was Jan's friend, maybe it was time they tried to get to know each other more? Yes? "I don't know what you do around here in the ministry yet. I suppose January told you what I do...?" Vic remembered Kade introducing himself but he didn't hear him that time over the roaring of his angered temper. |
Quote:
He nodded, finishing his doughnut as he listened to Vic introduce himself. Kind of. "She probably did say, but I don't remember," Kade said. It was completely honest, and he wondered how Vic would respond. Hopefully not too badly, because he obviously didn't remember what Kade did, and Kade was fairly sure he had mentioned his job title when he had first introduced himself. He wasn't going to mention that, though. "I'm a liaison in the Department of Specialties," he told him. And maybe he hadn't mentioned the fact that he was a liaison last time. So there was that. |
SPOILER!!: Dmitry She gave him a curious but amused look at his next sentiment. "I'm certain that's not true.." she began, chuckling along with him as she was sure he was joking. But the next part made sense. She knew he wasn't originally from the area and it would be likely that he had visited family over the holiday. "Oh..?" Well, certainly going without eating wasn't a good thing.. "Do some traveling during the Ministry break?" She hadn't remembered seeing him at the Ministry Gala, but she had been otherwise occupied and hadn't seen much of anyone so it didn't necessarily mean he wasn't there. "I had quite a lovely break, yes," she answered, smiling as she looked down at the ring on her finger. "I got engaged.." She'd flaunt the ring a bit but she wasn't so sure men really got into that type of thing as much as her women friends did. Still, she was happy to share her news. The 29 year old ate a bit of her fettuccine as she listened to Dmitry speak of his work and the current happenings of Level Five, nodding here and there. Thankfully her own level had taken enough care of the repercussions left by the chizpurfle mess last year that they didn't have to deal with that mess on top of the work they had now, but she certainly understood where he was coming from. "Oh a council meeting sounds interesting," she mused aloud over a sip of coffee. She did like meeting people from other countries and vaguely wondered what they'd be doing here. "Oh you've been given the liaison position? Congratulations," she gave him an approving smile. Always nice to be given recognition at work. "I held that position on Level Seven for a time.." Of course that was before she had been promoted to Department Head and she really needed to hire another though she wasn't sure the size of her department or the current restructuring allowed for it. So for now, it was still her or one of her managers when something was needed. And of course, he had turned the question back to her. Something she was happy to oblige. "We have quite a bit going on in Games and Sports right now. We're planning a community event with some of the professional Quidditch players in the area, so that has our main focus. But it's certain to be a good time.. you should come out and see for yourself." He was a Quidditch fan, right? She thought he mentioned that he was.. but really, who wasn't? And she was sure the community at large would enjoy themselves there. |
SPOILER!!: Emma The Love Guru Did she seem a little bemused or was that Felix's imagination? Had the Romanian said something odd? Probably, he tended to be rude, or to speak strangely without realizing it. "Have I... Said something wrong?" Felix asked, tilting his head. The look of confused concern on Felix's face vanished and was replaced by a small smile as Emma very warmly welcomed him to the Department Of Mysteries, before going on to comment on the lack of people in her own sub division. Hmm, strange, Felix had always assumed that the DOM was one of the more populated areas of the Ministry, he had clearly been wrong. "Thank you," Felix said, before taking a rather large bite of his pepperoni pizza. "Why is that? Are they downsizing the department or have there just been less applicants lately?" Felix asked, managing to sound perfectly normal even with his mouth full of dough and cheese. "I can? That's allowed?" Felix said, his dark eyebrows raised in surprise. He hadn't thought he would be allowed to wander into the other rooms. He was definitely going to take advantage of this. Felix had never been the romantic type, he believed himself too logical to get swept away by emotions like love and lust, but that didn't mean he wasn't curious about their natures, and he was actually rather eager to learn them mysteries behind the Ever-Locked Room. "A love specialist? If you don't mind my asking, what exactly does that entail?" Felix said, flushing slightly as Emma winked at him. Was she flirting with him? She wasn't showing any of the tell-take signs of physical attraction so maybe it was intended as a friendly gesture. He would file this little moment away for further inspection. |
Quote:
"Oh. Yeah, I remember now." Vic nodded, finishing his second doughnut and taking his third one. Someone was going to get sugar shock today. "Have you worked here for long?" He knew January spent most of her life in Italy, so Kade and her must not be friends from long, which meant Kade could've been an employee here longer than Vic and Jan had been, or he started working here around the time they came. "Want another doughnut?" He had two left. |
Quote:
He nodded. And felt sort of bad for not remembering what Vic did. It was too late to change that now, though, so he forgot about it. He paused for a moment to think about Vic's next question. "A few years, now." He couldn't remember how long exactly, but he'd been to two of the yearly employee things."Been in this position the whole time." |
SPOILER!!: Mariel "A little bit of travelling. I spent the 24th in Neuilly-sur-Seine with my parents and my mère's side of the family and then I spent new years and Christmas in Moscow with my dedushka and babushka. Everyone goes so it gets kind of crazy but it's really the only way to get to see everyone since at every other time most of us aren't even in the same country, even my cousins from America made it this year which was nice because they've had to skip the last few family gatherings due to conflicting schedules," Dmitry told her, not bothering to explain the Christmas thing. If he recalled correctly Mariel had spent time in Russia so he was hoping that she wouldn't get confused by the statement. So many people did when he explained to them that he celebrated Christmas twice. He was glad that she'd also had a good break, he hated it when people didn't. The holidays were meant to be a time of happiness, some stress of course, but overall they were about bringing people together. At her news Dmitry smiled, genuinely happy for her, and leaned forward slightly so he could actually see the ring. That wasn't weird right? "Congratulations, he must be a lucky guy; he's certainly one with good taste anyway. I hope the two of you are very happy together and that you continue to be," he told her. Despite his own failed engagement Dmitry wasn't one of those people that got soured toward the whole idea of marriage, although dating women was definitely something he hadn't been doing since they called it off. He was even going to be best man for a few of his friends next year. He only had to look at his own parents marriage and how in love they still were to keep himself from becoming sceptical about the whole idea of love and marriage. "I thought so too, although I'm also assuming that it will create a whole load of stress. I'm kind of curious about what countries will be represented and if I'll have a chance to hone my language skills." He was doing well with Greek, he should be near fluent soon but he hadn't really had a chance to put it to the test with a native speaker. He also hoped that Russia would be represented so that he could have a chance to speak in his native tongue. Although he'd had conversations with Emily in Russian they really didn't last long enough. "Thank you. Now I just have to prove that I can perform the duties well, although it does cut out the middle man in some cases since part of my job description is to work with the liaison, since the person who previously held the position is quite... exacting I suppose you could say?" Dmitry replied, slightly hesitant in his wording as he didn't want to appear unprofessional and airing the fact that he thought Charles was quite pompous and judgemental wasn't the way to do that. The fact that they were still on Ministry Property and there was a chance of something getting back to the man in question also made him phrase it in a better light. "Really?" he asked, less out of disbelief and more out of something to say before taking another bite of stew. A community event? That sounded fun and Quidditch was always a way to draw him into going to something. "Do you know when it's going to be yet?" he asked, already making plans to make sure he could go. Although his social calendar was quite booked during the weekends, what with the aforementioned best man duties; tux fittings, bachelor party organising, helping to pick out rings and food and also attending celebrant classes since he'd agreed to be the celebrant at his cousin Liza's wedding. Although that wouldn't be taking place for a few years Dmitry figured he'd get the classes over with now rather than having to do them at the last minute. "As long as I'm free I'll definitely check it out." |
Quote:
A few years, that meant he wasn't one of the new ones. "Do you like your job? Is it what you wanted?" Vic wasn't sure what Fuller's interests were, what kind of personality he had outside of being a jerk when he was driven-- which was not necessarily a bad thing, being driven was good enough regardless of the way it reflected on people. |
Quote:
He grabbed a doughnut from the plate between them and took a few bites. "I do like my job," he replied. If it was what he wanted, though... "I don't know. I wasn't looking for anything specific when I applied. I have a history of getting bored with the jobs I take, and that hasn't happened here yet. So that's a good sign." And... that was a lot of talking. Kade went back to his doughnut to shut himself up. |
Quote:
Aaah, he got bored real easy? Vic always found that hard to believe, but there were people who didn't fit into any routine, while that was nerve-racking for the prosecutor, it was soothing for others. "It is a good sign. What about you outside work activities? You have a girlfriend?" Yes, he's been dying to ask this. Not that it mattered either way, but it didn't hurt to make sure Fuller wasn't trying to get Jan back. |
Quote:
He finished his doughnut as Bones spoke again. "Outside work?" He repeated. "I like being outdoors. Hiking and things. Which is hard to do in the middle of London..." Ha. "I like traveling." That was the better answer. ... girlfriend? It was a good thing Kade had finished his doughnut, or he probably would have choked. How had he guessed that Bones would ask something like that? And... why hadn't he prepared an answer? He took a moment to compose himself. "Sort of." And... what did that mean, exactly? "It's complicated." That was almost disgustingly cliché, but it was the best he could give. Kade was sure that Bones didn't want to know the details, and it would at least assure him that January was safely his. |
Quote:
They managed to move on to something they both seemed to have in common; Hobbies. Though now that Fuller talked on, not even this was something they did the same way. Vic nodded at him, "Traveling is good. If I was given the chance, I'd definitely travel a little more." He had too much responsibility here at a young age to be given that privilege, though. "I like relaxing somewhere during my off-time." He sort of had a girlfriend? Vic sensed there was some problems in that regard with Fuller... which, to be honest, didn't surprise him for some reason. He did feel for him, though, he looked like he was upset about it. "Oh." was all Vic could say, really. They weren't close enough to pry and offer support, and he was sure Fuller wasn't want to share anyway. "It's a rocky road, isn't it? Relationships." He chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "It was much easier when we were younger." Now everything was serious and... intense. |
Quote:
She paused at Felix's question. Was the Department of Mysteries down-sizing? "I honestly don't know. I don't believe so but I cannot speak with authority on such a topic as I really don't know," she said honestly. His comments, however, had made her start to wonder if they were getting more and more applicants. "You're second suggestion seems like a likely answer to the question." But she couldn't say much else about it because she didn't really know. One could only postulate. She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly as she took a sip of her delicious cappuccino. "I don't think it wouldn't be allowed. I mean- it would probably be best if we hung out in the Employee Area or something." It'd be nice to make some work friends around the department. "A Love Specialist studies the emotional that is love. We investigate its various forms. Then we also research and collect data related to these forms. It's very intriguing because there are so many different types of love. Love for a specific person, love for an idea, the list just goes on and on," she explained becoming more and more enthusiastic about the whole emotion. Oh yes. She loved her job. Anyway, enough about her. "What are you doing in the Space Room?" she asked curiously. She had always wondered what the employees did in there. Even though Felix was new, perhaps he'd know some things about it. |
SPOILER!!: Dmitry Oh he did seem interested in her ring and Mariel lifted her hand a bit so he could see it better. "Well, thank you. That's very sweet of you to say," she beamed happily, looking down at her ring and distractedly running a finger over the diamonds. "Oh, he is a lucky guy," she added, laughing a bit. They certainly had their ups and downs over the past year and a half, but all joking aside, she considered herself very lucky as well. "We are very happy," she nodded, hoping the same as Dmitry expressed. "Thank you for that sentiment, I do appreciate it." And of course she was very happy with Jorge, just a little too busy to make any proper plans. That could wait till after the event. Stress.. yes, that's something that she could relate to, as often as she threw herself into her work, busy times often proved to at least some stress present. That was often just unavoidable and she nodded her understanding, expecting quite a bit to come her way with the meet and greet. She was remotely curious as well as to what it all would entail, but she didn't know all that much about what went into his job. "Do you speak many languages? English, of course.. Russian and French, I'd assume.." she mused aloud, unable to recall if he had told her of any others. She didn't normally like to assume things, but she figured the last two were safe bets. "Speaking them regularly is certainly essential," she nodded, adding to his implication. One reason was she almost exclusively spoke French when speaking to her sisters to keep herself fluent. "Exacting?" Mariel gave him a vaguely curiously look, unsure of his meaning though she quickly gathered he was trying to remain professional, something that she could appreciate. "Well, I'm certain you'll do a fine job," she said with a smile, eating a bit more. Gidyun wouldn't have placed him there if he didn't think so as well and Dmitry had a pleasant enough personality which was quite suitable for the position. "Yes.." she nodded a bit distractedly, getting rather lost in thought. "I've restructured much of the department since then and have yet to find a permanent replacement." Not that he'd be bothered with that, she was just thinking aloud. Victoria would be her obvious first choice, though she wondered if she had enough responsibility and didn't want her to be burdened with more. "The first Saturday in April," she said, taking a sip of her coffee, as he expressed interest in the Quidditch event. "April first, to be exact." She had gone over that date so many times after permanently scheduling it that she did not need to even look at her planner anymore. The details were fairly well etched on her brain. "Well, good," she added as Dmitry said he might attend. "I really think you'd enjoy yourself. We've all put so much work into it to make it fun for everyone." She did anticipate its success. |
Quote:
He was glad that Bones didn't pry, but Kade hadn't expected him too anyway. He nodded to the comment about relationships being rocky. "To say the least," he agreed without thinking. He chewed the inside of lip thoughtfully as Bones continued talking. Easier when we were younger? Kaden almost laughed. "It's always been rocky for me," he said, the laughter almost audible in his tone. Now that was something he didn't want to get into with Bones. Ever. "You never said. What do you do outside work?" If anything, Mr. Workaholic. |
Quote:
Oh look at that, Fuller seemed to be the heartbreaker when he was younger or something. Vic chuckled along, "Yeah, I guess we all had our rocky time at something." Vic had it with not being able to have a relationship, thanks to his commitment to his family and the tough times they had. But this was too personal to share over their first... meal. "Oh, I just... lounge in my couch, read a good book, sometimes I do some sports." It was rare but it happened. "I like to take relaxing walks, too." With January. This was a recent thing but it felt the most right. |
SPOILER!!: Mariel As he got a better look at the ring Dmitry couldn't help but conclude that it was beautiful. A ring he assumed any woman would be happy to have as their engagement ring. Certainly something Mariel could be proud to show off if she were inclined to do so. He figured most women were. Angélique had certainly been inclined to show hers off to every female friend she had, even some of the women he knew she actively disliked and Liza had certainly been showing her engagement ring off to everyone over Christmas. Not that he could fault her cousin for her joy. Mariel's response to his statement startled Dmitry into laughter and his voice was teasing when he said, "You certainly don't suffer from false modesty." It was actually kind of refreshing in a way that she didn't feign modesty in this situation. Did he speak many languages? Compared to his Papa he didn't, although that was mainly because he hadn't spent as many years learning new languages as his papa had. "Well, I do obviously speak all those languages fluently," Dmitry agreed before moving to tick the others off on his fingers. "Besides English, Russian and French I'm also fluent in Latin, German and Spanish. I can quite comfortably hold conversations in Japanese and Greek and at the moment I'm learning Lithuanian and Polish." Finished ticking everything off his fingers Dmitry took another bite of pumpkin pie before sipping at his drink. He nodded when Mariel mentioned that practice was important. "I definitely agree with you. Even though I've spoken French since the cradle when I was still in my teens I would sometimes find myself forgetting what things meant. Which generally meant that I'd been ignoring my mère's floo calls for entirely too long," he joked. Although truth be told he hadn't spoken to her as much as he likely should have when he was just starting university and travelling with his friends. Despite the fact that his mère was fluent in Russian she almost exclusively spoke French with her children. Something about reminding them that their French heritage was as important as their Russian heritage. "He has high standards," Dmitry qualified, figuring that was probably a better term in the first place. "Well, thank you. I was a liaison back in Russia for a time, I was less nervous about that though." Mainly because he'd known more of the people he had to interact with. Still, he knew that Gidyun wouldn't have handed him the position if he didn't think he was capable of fulfilling the duties associated with it. Ahh, Dmitry had never had to restructure a Department but he figured there would be a great deal of work involved in doing so. "I hope you find a suitable permanent replacement soon then," he offered, knowing that it would mean less of a workload for Mariel herself when she did. "April Fools?" Dmitry questioned, when she mentioned the date they'd set for the Quidditch event. Well, he'd certainly remember that date and although he wasn't going to be free that evening he could certainly spend some time at the event. "Well, I'm sure it'll be a success and I'll certainly stop by for a few hours." |
Quote:
She wasn't used to being called miss? Clearly the young woman became comfortable with people rather easily if she was so unused to formality, unlike Felix who tended to have a hard time connecting with people. "Ah, I see... That's rather understandable, Miss Malfoy," Felix lightly teased, taking a long sip of his chocolate milk. And no, he did not think chocolate milk and pizza were a weird combination, it was actually rather perfect in his opinion. Felix "hmm'ed" as the young woman explained, very diplomatically, that she didn't know if that were the case or not and could not speak with authority on such a manner. Felix was actually rather amused by the young woman's little speech, it wasn't what he had expected of her. "Ether scenario isn't very good for the department, but the second is certainly easier fixed.. In fact, I think that's what that little program is all about; getting kids interested in our work," Felix said, with a thoughtful nod. Yes that sounded about right. "Right... That would probably be for the better, I don't care much for being reprimanded this early in my ministry career," It was odd, Felix didn't usually get on this well with people, but something about Emma and her pleasant, cheerful disposition made him feel comfortable, and friendlier than usual. He listened attentively as Emma explained, with great enthusiasm and obvious affection about the Ever-Locked Room and what she did as a Love Specialist. "That's actually more interesting than I'd thought it would be... " Felix admitted, a small smile forming on his Eastern European features. "Forgive me, but I believed it was nothing but match-making," Felix said, before raising an eyebrow at Emma's next question. "What are you doing in the Space Room?" Felix lit up, his small smile transforming into a grin. There was nothing that could brighten his day like talking about his absolute favorite thing; space. "I'm an astronomer, I catalogue and study the planets and various other celestial objects to better understand our universe and how exactly it works." Felix said, and though he assumed the blond would find all this boring, he went on; "When you think about our world, in relation to the vastness of the universe.. It's a mind blowing experience," |
Quote:
"Exactly!" she added rather enthusiastically at Felix's point about getting more of the kids involved. With more kids involved, their department would last for a long time. And Ashby wouldn't have to worry about the legacy of the Mysteries Department. "It'll be interesting to see what we all decide to 'teach' the kids. The guy in the Death Chamber didn't sound too excited about it all," she said. Maybe that's what studying 'death' did to you? Merlin. That was a rather...morbid thought. Anyway back to mysterious Felix. He didn't mind getting reprimanded for being in the wrong room so early in his career? Well wasn't he a brave one. She could have sworn that he would have been sorted into the Gryffindor house if he had attended Hogwarts. She didn't think he had because she didn't remember him from her time. Perhaps she did and she was too busy going off with her own group of friends. Oh well. "Mhmm, maybe Ashby would encourage it so we can help see where the youngsters best fit?" she said. Emma laughed. "It is a lot more interesting. Just between you and me, I thought it was going to be sort of boring when I started. And no worries, you didn't offend me at all," she explained as she leaned closer to whisper so he could only hear her voice. She listened attentively as Felix explained his work. Listening to Felix explain it, she was reminded of her own cousin, Trixie, who loved Astronomy. Emma remembered sitting in the car as a young girl with Trixie and watching her cousin's eyes dazzle with excitement as she explained everything that could possibly be out there for them to explore. "Cataloguing other planets and cosmos? Awesome. There must be so many places that are unexplored," she said. His job was definitely mind-blowing. |

At that comment, Kade was suddenly curious as to what Bones had been rocky at. He didn't want to ask, though. Who knew what kind of answer that would bring up. Or if Bones would even want to answer it at all. Best just to avoid it altogether and the awkward moment that would surely follow. Lounge, read, walk. He sounded like a real party animal. "With January?" ... that slipped. Kade immediately put on a straight face, hoping that it wasn't obvious that he hadn't meant to say that. He didn't really care if January took walks with this guy. He didn't care about January. Except for in a friend way. Ugh. Any chance Bones hadn't heard? |

Caroline was going to have to start coming down here.It was nice and the food was good Maybe meet more people make friends. And no work. "Its hard to get away sometimes. Even for lunch." She cut up the boiled eggs in her salad. Oh did she mention how good the food was? Jamie... She nodded "I sure do." Jamie was a pleasure to work along side with. "He is. Good healer too," Dependable and all that jazz. She was glad to have him around at work. Caroline laughed "Definitely, never a dull moment. And not a lot of time for lunch breaks." She was lucky if she got to eat at home. not with her own kids at home."And by the time I get home the kids have practice and dance.Im surprised that I ever get to eat. How many do you have?" Now that sounded like a fun job.But then any job working with quidditch was fun. She loved being the team Healer for the tornadoes. She kind of missed it. "That's nice. I worked as a teams healer for a while." Her husband and brother both played for them now. |

“He’s a sweet guy. Always knows how to cheer me up when needed.” Which had been a lot in the past year. She thought about Christmas Eve when he had come over and watched Golden Girls that was sweet. “I don’t doubt he’d be a good healer. I bet he’s just great with the kids at the daycare.” If that’s even where he was a healer at. She had children as well, listening she thought about when the time came for the girls to do this kind of thing. Then she’d really have her hands full, though Charely would be helping out as well. “You sound like a busy person. I have three actually. One’s at school at Hogwarts and the other two will be two in July.” She couldn’t believe her girls would be two, the time went so fast. A team healer well that was very interesting, “I bet that was a fun job. I couldn’t imagine the injuries. What team?” She knew many injury statistics because of her position, everything was documented and stored away. |
SPOILER!!: Mariel She did smile faintly as he mentioned a young god-son, though she thought she caught a somber tone. Again not her business, she figured, as she really didn't know him all that well to pry. "Oh that's great, I'm sure that was a lovely time.." she mused, reminiscing on her own time spent with young ones recently and another distant thought she pushed away before it made itself too prevalent. "How old is he? I have twin god-daughters myself." Around a year and a half they were already. "Ronda.. it's in the south of Spain," she answered as he asked specifically where, unsure how familiar he was with the location. "Very beautiful.. only the second time I've been there." Her look of amusement stayed firmly in place as Dmitry laughed at her words and commented himself. "No.. I can't say I've ever been accused of being falsely modest." And even if she had been only joking, Mariel didn't often see the point of being too modest. She was a confident woman and took credit when it was due, though she was careful to not be arrogant. There was a big difference. She smiled softly down at her ring again, remembering the proposal, before lifting her eyes and focusing on the present conversation. Merlin, he really did speak a lot of languages.. more than she had imagined. "I have to say, that's rather impressive," she said as her eyes had slightly widened while Dmitry listed what he could speak. But no wonder he was so cut out for International Cooperation. "I'm sure that comes in quite handy for your job.. French is really the only other one besides English that I'm very fluent in. I can hold a conversation in German and Spanish though," she added by way of conversation. And it was her intent on becoming fluent in Spanish. Her Russian was far too rusty to have even been mentioned, so she didn't, forgetting quite a bit of what she had learned years ago. She chuckled softly as he mentioned ignoring his mother's calls, then nodded. "I get that.. when I mirror my sisters, we often only speak in French to keep it sharp." Of course, M'Lynn lived in France so it wasn't an issue for her, but for Mariel and Meloria, they often didn't have much other opportunity. High standards.. Mariel nodded as she mulled over those words. Many people had high standards but it was often the way they expressed the to others that made the difference. Perhaps that was what Dmitry was alluding to and she thought she understood. "It seems you're well-suited then," she added with a smile. She had already thought that given his pleasant personality, now even more so that he had experience with the position. "And thank you.. I certain we will." It hadn't been a priority with other things going on, but she had some potential there. For now the responsibilities would be divided by a few of them. And speaking of other things going on, she chuckled a bit as he mentioned the date. "It does happen to be April Fools.. I hadn't really thought of it that way but it does seem to make the date memorable.." All the more better for them then, people would remember when it was and it wouldn't get overlooked.. not that something like this would. "Fantastic.. I hope you do." She really couldn't wait for it and she was certain the community would love it. |
SPOILER!!: Mariel "Nearly two, so it's been a while. They moved to South Korea a few months before he was born and only just moved back so I really didn't get to see him as much as I would have liked. I'm hoping to change that now though with them living closer." In fact they already had weekend plans. Dmitry was to take Étienne out for a day while they moved into their own house, instead of his place where they'd been staying due to the sale taking longer than expected. Not that he'd minded because he wasn't living in the place nor was he renting it out, he was just happy not to get stuck helping them move. Although he was sure he'd get stuck helping to put furniture together at some point. That or cooking. Twin god-daughters sounded nice and when she mentioned them he was almost tempted to pull his wallet out and share pictures, except he was pretty sure no one but him was really interested, just like he wasn't really interested in the past when workmates had forced him to look at pictures of their kids. Not that he didn't like kids, because he adored them, it's just he didn't have an emotional connection to them so the fact they were sitting up really didn't matter to him. Still, since Mariel had asked about Étiennes' age Dmitry returned the curiosity. "And how old are they?" Ronda... "It's in Málaga isn't it?" Dmitry asked, brows furrowed slightly as he thought. He'd personally never been to Ronda but he had spent some time in Spain on holiday's when he was younger. They'd stuck to more coastal towns though like Marbella. Dmitry nodded along, giving her his full attention now that he wasn't eating. It was only polite to do so really. A small smile took root on his face as Mariel played along, glad she hadn't gotten offended or something. He didn't think she would but some people got offended at the least thing so he hadn't been entirely sure that she'd take it in the spirit it was meant in. "It's nothing really. My father's a polyglot and a linguistics teacher so I was bound to learn languages and then I studied it at uni," he replied with a shrug. While he did speak quite a few languages he knew that there were people out there who spoke more. Dmitry was just lucky in that languages came easy to him, unlike some people who just weren't meant to even attempt languages they mangled them so badly. Not to say that all languages came easily to him, ones like Japanese he'd found quite difficult at first. "But yeah, it is handy. I think most of us on five are at least bilingual," he didn't know if everyone was but it seemed like it. Of course that could very well just be the employees that he interacted with. "That's still quite impressive," Dmitry opined. He liked to be fluent but really in most situations being able to hold a conversation would be enough. "Not Russian though?" he questioned, recalling that she'd mentioned spending some time in Saint Petersburg in the past. "I get that. Sevastyan and I tend to switch it up when we talk to each other. We don't speak all the same languages but we like to mix in the ones we both speak, especially when one of us is learning and the other is fluent," which was happening right now since Sevastyan was already fluent in Polish. "It's the same when I speak to my cousins, although we mainly stick to Russian." He also loved getting letters because they'd be in the familiar Russian or French, sometimes interspersed with English when Stasya was the one who wrote. "Thanks," Dmitry said with another quick grin. He hadn't been fishing for compliments or reassurance that he'd do well but he'd take it. An ego boost was always nice after all. "Definitely memorable. I just hope nobody decides to pull any pranks," he stated wryly, not because he was against them, just because he was thinking that if something went wrong at this event that they'd apparently spent a lot of time on then it could have serious repercussions. He knew that in his own youth he certainly would have been tempted to pull something at an event organised on April Fools, it would be too good to pass up. So it was probably lucky that he'd grown out of that by now. |

There was the wink again, really, Felix had no idea what to do with that. Should he wink back? No wait, that would ridiculous, his face was not meant for winking, he'd leave that to Emma. Felix had to admit, her playful nature was.... Well, rather refreshing, he was used to being around more serious types and this brevity that Emma seemed to have was quite pleasant. "I don't know what you're talking about, Miss Malfoy," Felix said with a light smirk. Felix smiled softly as the blond excitedly agreed with him, before going on to mention how it would be interesting to see what the kids would be taught, and how the gentleman from the death room hadn't seemed all that eager about the whole thing. Honestly, Felix couldn't blame him, he himself wasn't much into kids and teaching them was something that Felix was actually rather dreading. "It shall be interesting, tough... I must admit, I'm not all that pleased about it ether... Seems like it'll take too much away from our actual duties." Felix simply said, finishing off his pizza. He took out a white handkerchief and fastidiously wiped at his mouth, making sure to get off any crumbs or residual sauce. "Hopefully so, I'd hate to be stuck with someone who was uninterested in the work I do," "You thought it would be boring? Then why take on the job? If you don't mind my asking," Felix asked, adjusting his eyeglasses. As Emma leaned in, Felix felt himself unconsciously doing the same, it was all rather conspiratorial and just a bit fun. He couldn't help making a study of the girl's features, she was pretty, very pretty but the intelligence behind her clear eyes showed that she wasn't just about her looks, that there was a brain behind all that charm... Definitely interesting. "Yes, many, very many.. That's the thing I love about it.. The universe is a living, breathing thing.. It changes, evolves just as we do.. And there's always more to discover.. More to understand.. I' sorry, I must be boring," Felix said, suddenly self-conscious. |
Quote:
Emma nodded in agreement. She took a sip of her cappuccino. Teaching kids would take away time from them actually performing their duties. "Right but it'll be for the betterment of the department," she said. With Felix's next statement, Emma whole-heartedly agreed with. Getting stuck with a student that didn't wish to learn about the subject would be horrible, especially if they just made of fun of the whole job. She nodded. "Yes, that would not be good at all but perhaps Mr. Summers will put them in areas that they wish to be in. If they have to visit all areas of the department, perhaps they could only stay one day in a place so we don't have to deal with their 'attitude'." Young people could be difficult at times but thank Merlin they weren't thirteen year olds. Thirteen was a scary age. The blonde shrugged her shoulders. "I thought it would be boring but then my best friend convinced me to give it a try so I did. I thought I knew what love was so I didn't think that I would be suited for the job; however, now, I realize how naive I had been," she said. She paused and took a sip of her cappuccino. Felix seemed like the trustowrhty type so she didn't mind telling him a little bit more about herself. "Originally, I was an Obliviator but I took a leave of absence as I had some familial issues to deal with. After that was solved, I came back to that department and didn't really find my heart in it all so I transferred and ended up here." Emma paused and listened to Felix describe the beautiful cosmoses up in the sky and the endless possibilities within the galaxy. She studied the excitement in his eyes and the passion, the love, he held for his topic of study. It was intoxicating and exciting. "No, no, no. You're not boring me. It's all fascinating. At Hogwarts, I used to spend the majority of my time either in the Astronomy Tower or on the Quidditch Pitch. You can go on if you wish," she said, giving him a reassuring grin. |
Anyone? With most of her co-workers out on assignments Tasha made her way down to the food court to get herself some lunch and potentially some company. The blond stopped by the buffet table and grabbed herself a plate full of pasta and sausages. Proceeding over to an empty table she sat down remembering that she had forgotten a glass of ice tea. Tasha was thinking of the cool, thirst clenshing drink when she heard a whoosh and a SPLASH and next thing she knew she was DRENCHED from head to toe in ICE TEA.... "Eeek, who did this?" Eyes darting around for a possible culprit Tasha shivered in the sudden coldness of her clothes. Wiping her wet hair out of her eyes she started to search around her robe pockets for her wand. |
Natasha / Nordic Witch Wandastian had been returning from collecting Healer Carmichael...when he seen the incident occur! He'd KNOWN there was something up at the Ministry building. This...CONFIRMED EVERYTHING they'd feared! Rushing towards the distressed woman, because he'd seen the WHOLE THING, the Healer brandished his wand, offering his assistance. Oh, me...Oh, MY. They should have arrived SOONER. "Ma'am!" Wandastian fussed over the lady. "Let me attend to you at once!" All the while, she was getting poked and prodded as he did some mild assessing. |
Quote:
"I don't need...help. I just need a...a towel." Tasha mumbled as she continued to search for her wand. Where was it? Had she forgotten it in the office? She wasn't that careless "I just got ice tea -----" all over me. She didn't get to finish her sentence however though when a big pack of towels landed on top of the man's head. Oops! |
"Ma'am, please remain calm." The STRESS. It was practically oozing from the woman's pores. "I'm a St. Mungo's Healer...and I am here to save you." Save everyone and everything...He'd been accompanied by the best of the best, as well. Loranys, Ambry, and Ravaora...The British Ministry of Magic would be thanking them when it was all said and done. .....AND WHY was this woman continuing to deny the help she so clearly needed. "Why don't you take a seat and let me have a look at you..." Wandastian inspected her pupils, noting that they weren't dilated. Good. Very good. The Healer quickly summoned a towel and poked and prodded a bit more. |
Quote:
"What do you need to save me from?" she asked in a quiet tone. Since it was fruitless to resist being poked and prodded she took a seat in one of the empty chairs to let the man assess her. "I'm not sick." |
Outright ignoring her questions, Wandastian started dishing his own. Questions, that is. "Have you experience any similar incidents like the one that just occurred?" The lady had no need to be coy with him about matters. He was here for her protection...EVERYONE'S protection, more specifically. "May I ask your name?" She seemed to be in good physical condition, from what his quick spells could tell, but that spoke little of her magic and mind. Those were what was most important during these times. "What department do you belong to?" Wandastian kept the inquires casual. |
Quote:
"I'm Natasha Tamerlane. I work on level 3, Accidents and Catastrophe's department." Could he share his name too so she didn't have to think of him as Mr healer person from St Mungos? Or was that too much to ask? |
Quote:
For the betterment of the department.. Felix couldn't deny that the young woman had a point, it was sacrifice they would have to make in order garner interest in their work, otherwise they'd lose funding and no funding meant no research and without research Felix would be unhappily out of a job. It was a vicious cycle, one Felix could do without. "Point well made, Miss Malfoy... " Felix said, finishing off his first carton of chocolate milk and opening a second. It was rather odd to see such a serious looking young man sipping from such a childish drink, at the young woman's next words, Felix nodded in full agreement. "You should suggest that to him, you're helping him with the preparation, right?" He asked, brow raised inquisitively. "Good thing she did, otherwise you'd have missed out on your calling," Felix joked. Love, it wasn't something he'd ever really thought of, Felix was too interested in science and his work to pay concepts like falling in love any mind and even she he did find someone attractive, he hardly ever did anything about it... Like that dark haired girl from the department meeting the one with the intelligent eyes... He never did get her name, perhaps he could ask Emma about her, later though. The Astronomer listened attentively as Emma explained to him the reason for her transfer, including that she had endured familial problems and a lack of interest. He nodded sympathetically. "I'm sorry to hear that you had family trouble, but I'm glad that you transferred to the department when you did... Otherwise I'd have no one to speak with," Felix said, smiling softly. "Are you certain miss? Once I get talking you might not be able to shut me up," Felix lightly joked, the smile on his face growing a teensy bit bigger. Honestly it had been sometime since he had enjoyed a good conversation like this and some time since he had been able to speak of his work in such a pleasant, relaxed manner. It had also been awhile since he'd felt this comfortable with another person. "This planet... It's this impossibly minuscule little dot in the vastness of our universe and right now, Wizards and Muggles alike are racing to try to understand it's furthest reaches with our rather limited abilities. There's no telling what's out there and that's why it is so exciting.. There are always new discoveries to make! Titan, one of Jupiter's moons has lakes of methane and icy mountain peaks, I mean, that's insane!" Felix said, running a hand through his wavy hair, his voice light with his excitement. |
Quote:
She chuckled in agreement with Felix. Yes, if she hadn't of listened she would have missed out on this gig all together and would never have ever gotten to meet Felix. How sad would that have been? The blonde nodded. "Agreed." She shrugged her shoulders as he was being rather polite to her about being sorry about the family troubles. Emma acted as if she was fine with what happened but she was still coming to terms with it privately. Her father was a difficult man to work with. The blonde gave her new friend a small smile. "Me too. Otherwise, work would be very, very lonely." The Ex-Slytherin smirked wickedly at him. "Oh I have my ways," she teased with a rather flirtatious wink before she paid him the utmost attention as he described the cosmos. That's right! There was nothing telling them what was out there in the infinite realm or realms of space. It was all waiting for them to go explore it. Then she listened to him go on about Titan. Wasn't that one of Sat-? She kept quiet and continued to listen with a grin on her lips. "Wouldn't it be exciting to see all of these celestial bodies with your own eyes? Did you ever think of being an astronaut as a child?" she asked curiously. |
Quote:
The Young man smiled softly as the blond giggled before charmingly agreeing with him. She was nice, really nice and the Hogwarts Alumnus was sure that she must have been a Hufflepuff or Gryffindor based on her friendly disposition, if she'd gone to Hogwarts at all. "Where did you attend school? If you don't mind my asking?" Felix said, seized with sudden curiosity. "I must agree... Plus, I'd be sitting here alone talking to myself and that would be awkward... And unhelpful," Felix joked, his dark eyes lighting up with mirth. "Do you now?" Felix joked back, swallowing a little nervously as the beautiful blond flirted with him. Yeah, she was definitely flirting, he was certain of it now and he was a bit uncomfortable, but not unpleasantly so. He noticed the grin as he finished speaking, and though it seemed innocent, something about it irked him... It looked a little too mischievous to be totally innocent, though he had no idea why. "Yes, seeing them in the space room would be nothing compared to see them with my own eyes... I did actually, as a child.... But magic and NASA don't really get along," Felix lightly said. "Um... Miss Malfoy, I have a... Well a strange question for you," Felix said, distractedly running his hand through his hair again. |
Quote:
Where did she go to school? "'Course not. " She didn't mind his curiosity at all. Curiosity was refreshing. She endorsed it. "Hogwarts. And you?" she said with a nod. Emma missed the school desperately. Hogwarts had become her home. A place where she truly felt safe and where she could be herself without having to worry about her parents' opinions on her life choices. Be a respectful pureblood daughter and don't let the family name down. She looked down at her empty cappuccino cup and then met his eyes. "I was a Slytherin." She laughed a little when he mentioned without her sitting with him, he'd be awkwardly talking to himself. "Uh oh, don't let people hear you say that. They may think that you've gone mad," she said. "Mhmmm..." She smirked a little as he became oh-so nervous. She grinned, enjoying his nervousness. It was fun to make people nervous. Oh so fun. But now she had to behave. Teasing Felix was done with today. So Emma nodded thoughtfully when Felix mentioned that NASA and magic didn't mix too well. "That's unfortunate. You think that perhaps they could work in tandem to build an impressive space shuttle with newer capabilities. I believe there's a Professor at Hogwarts who worked at NASA or perhaps he interned. I can't remember now," she said, trying to remember an article that she had read the other week. Oh what was his name? Flamos? Flamsteed? Flames? "A strange question?" What type of question could he have? She raised her eyebrows at her quirky companion. "Ask away, my friend." |
Quote:
Felix raised an eyebrow as the blond mentioned that she'd gone to Hogwarts, funny that he had never met her considering they'd both received their schooling from the same place. "I attended Hogwarts myself... Odd that we both went there and yet don't recall each other... " Felix said, his brow furrowed with thought as he tried to recall knowing of an Emma Malfoy during his school years. "A Slytherin? I would never have guessed... You don't strike me as a dark wizards," Felix joked, casually leaning in his little green chair, not in any rush to leave just yet, yes the space room could wait just a bit longer. "I suppose they would.. And the mental health examinations wouldn't be much help in evading that rumor... " Felix joked, his smile broadening with amusement. Ahh, there was the Slytherin behavior, he could see it in that smirking smile of Emma's as she flirtatiously teased him, completely unconcerned for his discomfort. Felix had a feeling he ought to watch himself around this one, she was more dangerous than she appeared. The Astronomer's light blush vanished as Emma began speaking again, this time mentioning what a shame it was that the mini try and NASA weren't working together and how a Professor at Hogwarts had interned there for a short while. "Flamsteed? Oh yes, I've heard of him. He's very accomplished, very brilliant... I've read a few of his essays on Astronomy.. Very impressive," Felix scientifically said, he rather admired the fellow, though he wasn't about to start nerdy gushing in front of Emma. "Well, there was... A, uh... young woman... At the first meeting of the department? Dark hair, very lively eyes.. I was wondering who she is?" Felix asked, trying to sound as causal as he could, as if he wasn't awkwardly asking about a beautiful woman who had caught his eye. |
Quote:
He had attended Hogwarts as well? Huh, how weird. Well the school was a rather big school after all so it was difficult to get to meet everyone. "Yes, indeed," she paused biting her lip, trying to place if and where she had seen Felix. Blue robes? Maybe a Potions class or something? Perhaps. "Were you by chance a Ravenclaw? Because if so that would explain why you look sort of familiar..." Though then again, Emma could be mistaking him for someone else. There were a lot of Ravenclaws in the school and she had only made friends with four of them. She chuckled when he explained that she didn't strike him as a dark wizard. "Well you know what they say looks can be deceiving." Then she gave him a wicked grin and held it for a couple of minutes before grinning at him. "Kidding. No, I think I was sorted into that house purely based on ambition and family history." "Indeed". Emma laughed before grimacing a bit at the mention of the health examinations. Those were very weird things. She hadn't gone for hers yet- in fact, she would refuse to go but wouldn't tell anyone. "They are a bit strange though.. Mental Health examinations at the Ministry? I don't recall this happening before..." she said lowering her voice so only Felix could hear. Felix was just adorable. That little blush didn't go unnoticed. Emma felt inclined to tease him more but decided to hold back a bit for the two HAD just met and it seemed unfair to make him squirm more. But oh it was so much fun! Ahem. Right. Focusing on the Flamsteed conversation. Emma gave Felix a smile and nodded at the mention of him. The man was simply marvelous. "Yes, he is very brilliant. I'd like to read some of his essays one day. Perhaps during a holiday?" Those essays sounded much more fun than the gardening ones that Selena had purchased from the book shop the other day. Herbology and Emma didn't mix. Bleugh. A younger woman? Dark hair? Lively eyes? Emma raised her eyebrows curiously. Did Felix have the hots for Emma's old housemate.. hmmm? Perhaps he did. Now this would be interesting. "Evelyn Carter. Ex-Head Girl and Slytherin. I believe she's married," she added rather thoughtfully in case Felix was going to get any ideas about that one. |
Felix nodded, offering the young woman a small smile. Hopefully he’d be as pleasantly surprised with the junior members as he had been with Miss Malfoy and her shockingly enjoyable company. Not that he’d supposed her to be awful, it would just that Felix never seemed to et along with most people, yet here he was chatting comfortably with Emma. Curious. “Yes, I was. I didn’t finish my education there, so perhaps that’s why we never crossed paths?” Felix thoughtfully offered, his brows furrowed over his brown eyes. Yes, that must have been it, surely he would have known her had he stayed at Hogwarts longer, made perfect sense now. Felix blinked with surprise as Emma went on, saying how looks could be deceiving and flashing the boy a wicked grin, only to admit a second later that she was kidding. Felix laughed with mock relief, his hand covering his chest as if he had been properly worried. “Thank Merlin, I was sincerely fearful for my life,” He joked, his smile lessening as she mentioned the real reason. “Family history? I’m sure you get this question a lot, Miss Malfoy. But, you wouldn’t happen to be related to those Malfoys, would you?” Of course, Felix had already guessed so, but it didn’t hurt to ask. “People don’t seem all that pleased about it, and I can hardly blame them. Last thing I want is a bunch of idiots messing around in my head,” Felix muttered, his mouth set into an annoyed frown. “You should. If you’re really interested in Astronomy than it’s one of he’s one of the best to learn from.” Felix said, still reigning in his excitement as he spoke, though his eyes were rather bright. “I could loan some to you, if you like,” Felix added, with a small smile. Evelyn Carter. Felix couldn’t help the small smile as Emma revealed the lovely young woman’s name, only to have it falter in the next second as the blond mentioned that she was married. “Huh… I see, very interesting. Quite,” Felix said, clearing his throat. |
Was it just her, or was it getting more and more difficult to get to the atrium from the department of mysteries? Taking a deep breath, a very pregnant Evelyn sighed out of relief as she finally got to sit down for her break; with her tea and sandwich, of course, from the buffet area. Unfortunately. Having woken up too late to make a lunch for herself, she had to settle with...this. How she looonged for the day the unborn child would let her go back to her vegetarian diet and not crave meat, but the chicken salad sandwich sounded safe, didn't it? Maybe. |
Quote:
Yes, finally it was time for food. A man with his build and physical activity surely needed a lot of food and that was probably why hunger was one thing he found very annoying. Very. Josh had started to realize that long ago when he tended to gradually get aggressive and stressed with no tolerance the more he felt hungry. So, before he could do anything he would later regret, he preferred to use the very first chance of having a break to fill his stomach. Being an auror, a very auror kind of paranoid one, one couldn't always feel comfortable with having breaks. What if he overlooked the opportunity to snatch a bad guy while he got himself busy with a petty thing like a break. He was not completely aware of it yet ever since he had his family and that family started to grow, the young man had started to get even much more protective so much more prone to fill his mind with plots of evil coming. Not that it made him paranoid in the common sense, it made him mentally prepare himself for any possible danger and he felt comfortable that way. Any, regardless that they seemed possible or completely ridiculous. Not really in a rush yet not walking slowly either, Josh Carter walked in the Food Court area thinking of what he could have to fill his tummy today. Hmm. Actually anything available would be good for him yet it would be a pleasure if there was some decent meat. After a few steps in the place, his attentive dark brown eyes scanned the place and the gaze froze when they spotted the only thing that could distract him from the opportunity of having food when he was starving; his beloved wife. With a happy smile on his face, the auror made his way towards her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders from her back. "My love..." he said and placed a quick peck on his pregnant wife's cheek. |

Releasing her from his embrace, he gently held her hand and stepped to face her. "You must be hungry." he said. Of course, there could be no other reason she would be up here in the Food Court, right? "Let's find you somewhere comfortable and i will get you the best food i can find." |
Quote:
Unfortunately. "Probably not as hungry as you though." Which would be saying something, but, she knew her husband. Leaning up, she gave a quick proper kiss before tugging him to a seat with juuust a bit of mischievous twinkle in her eye. "Share this with me? Before your stomach devours the whole food court." |
Quote:
Once she mentioned it, he eyed the sandwich she had. That was the best she could find? Eh...the food court wasn't known to be offering food of great quality yet he thought there had to be something better than a small sandwich he could get for his beloved wife. Then he let out a hearty laughter at what she said about his hunger. Josh Carter, hungrier than a fully pregnant woman. He obeyed her verbal command for him to sit down and happily smiled at the kiss feeling all enamoured. "Well then...we can consider it a good thing for the food reserves of the country that i cannot get pregnant." He grinned at her like a mischievous kid before focusing his attention back on her meal...and her in condition in general. "Share that small thing?" he asked with an expression of playful disbelief emphasizing the adjective in his sentence. "My love, you need it. And aren't you already sharing anyway?" he smiled and gently placed a hand on her very pregnant tummy. "That thing is too small for three people." and there was something else nagging in his mind. "Are you sure that seat is comfortable enough for you?" |
Quote:
Looking at the sandwich, she raised an eyebrow...and tilted her head slightly after a moment. Oh yes, she was eating for two. Thank Merlin it was just two this time. For three people though? It was an appetizer. "Best hurry and get in line then. Or all the second best choices will be gone." Shifting in her seat while unwrapping the sandwich, she paused and glanced up. Goodness, he never did stop worrying did he? "It's fine." For now. Sorta. "A few more days and it'll feel like a throne." Once she could cross her legs and sit properly again. |
SPOILER!!: The Carters It had been a few days since Felix's impromptu, but surprisingly nice lunch with Emma Malfoy, and as he entered the setting area with his lunch tray (he'd decided on the cheeseburger combo, naturally his drink was chocolate milk) his eyes searched the area for a sign of the blond in the hopes that he might sit with her again. No sign of the vivacious blond, looks like he'd be eating lunch alone, not that he really minded, but it had been nice to unwind a bit with a friendly conversation, even if at the end he had found out the awkward truth that his crush was on a happily married woman. That had been uncomfortable. Wandering quietly through the busy seating area, Felix wasn't paying much attention to where he was walking, his mind was a bit busy contemplating his latest discovery in the space room and so he didn't notice when he took a seat next to a beautiful, but very pregnant young woman and her impossibly good looking gentleman friend until he had sat down his tray and rather awkwardly looked up from his food to see them sitting there. "Oh." He simply said, his brow furrowed thoughtfully as if they had materialized out of nowhere. He turned to the young woman and his stomach did an unpleasant flip. It was Evelyn Carter, the dark haired woman with the pretty smile who had so caught his attention during his first meeting all those days ago... And she was pregnant which made his little crush seem pretty creepy now. Inwardly, Felix cringed. "Oh um, sorry. I didn't realize anyone was sitting here." Felix said, regathering his food which he had set on the table, fully intent of leaving as quickly as possible. |
Evelyn and Felix When hungry so much, Josh mostly disregarded the low quality of most of the food court meals yet he supposed Evelyn was right; if he acted now, maybe he could get some decent food before they were all gone and enjoy a bit taste instead of just filling his belly. "Yeah." he said and stood up eyeing the line. It was not so crowded in here, was it? His dark brown gaze returned to his wife when she spoke again. In a few days? Merlin? Was it that close? So it could be any day from now on. Merlin. That made him nervous. "Throne?" he said nervously, the fact that it was going to happen so soon making him completely miss the actual meaning of her words. "If you want a throne, i can make one for you." Yes, he could. It would be a throne made from wood but he would make sure it was a queen's throne. Then there was this guy...sitting at their table? Where did he come from? Sweet merlin...his auror senses didn't even acknowledge him. He was just there all in a sudden. With all the mixed feelings; nervousness, the surprise that he couldn't realise the dude approach with some other feelings he couldn't put a name to, Josh stared at the young man with unblinking eyes with an empty expression. He didn't realise? Josh just kept staring. |
Sanitizing the plate she'd borrowed from the buffet with her wand before placing her sandwich upon it, she snorted quietly, only to see that her husband was quite serious with his words when she looked up to him. Oh. She, erm...didn't know how to respond? Perhaps with a yes? However, someone's sudden appearance at their table had her words cut short. None other than Felix Matei, of all people. "That's quite alright." she chuckled softly, eyeing the way he was readying himself to leave. "You are more than welcome to sit here. We do have an extra seat after all." |
This might have been his first meal in the public Ministry space since the invasion of the Healers. He couldn't remember the last time he trusted the Atrium enough to be seated here like this and if he was to be honest...he preferred the spot under Emily's desk where they hid and shared lunch this past month. It was quiet there and certainly didn't have people. If it was possible, his aversion to humanity had worsened. Amidst all the poking, prodding and touching, he wasn't sure he'd ever want to be around the general population....ever...again. But here he sat. At the back of his mind something told him he'd regret coming here but he'd been in too much of a rush to pack anything this morning and this population, he felt, was safer than the kind out in Muggle London. No telling what that lot could get up to and he wasn't interested. Gavin would simply have his meal than hurry back to his office. It was safe there. |

Deciding just to stay at the ministry for lunch she made her way to the food court. She had gotten use to going out and meeting Cossy for lunch through the summer, but now he was at that horrid school along with her son. She was just glad he was there watching over Bart. Getting closer to the food court she noticed a familiar face. Smiling as she made her way over to him. "Gavin, hello." She hadn't spoken to him in awhile, but figured he had been super busy dealing with those blasted healers and their ridiculous issues. |

Was this a normal thing? Did people usually run into each other when they chanced a trip down to the Atrium? Merlin it'd been a while since he was here for any form of business or leisure. "Decided to pry yourself from your work I see." Emily could take a page from her book right about now...though eyeing the papers on his table, he was no better. Only difference was a change of scenery and a higher risk of running into others. In the end, Emily might have gotten the better deal. |

A chuckle coming from her lips, "I guess I can't say the same for you." Glancing around at the papers again. "Busy in your department?" She thought about the day she was on that level a few months back. She was going to set up that meeting with the minister, but other things distracted her and it just never happened. "It's the off season and my team are very talented at keeping us up on things, so I had a little extra time to get some lunch. So tell me how are you?" He didn't mind chatting a bit, did he? |
