Harmony didn't even get a minute to be relieved over the arrival of another batch of the cure because poor mutant y was going off, much in the same way the mutant they'd just lost to whatever was ailing it had. The red head looked distressed but she didn't waste any time.
Rushing to the equipment, Harmony prepared a dose of the potion for the poor mutant before hurrying over and administering it. She had tunnel vision and the only thing on her mind was making sure mutant y stopped screeching like that.

There really wasn't any reason for Emmalee to still be in the holding room, save for her curiosity as to whether the cure would actually work. She felt like that resolution was important to see through, but..
"For merlin's sake..." she muttered under her breath as the mutant started wailing. She looked over to the Creatures women, assuming that any moment, one of them would step forward and administer the cure...
When Harmony did so, Emmalee stepped forward, eager to see how this would turn out.

Oh look! There was Derek now. Thank Merlin. Now he didn't have to stand here looking like a proper shrivel fig and wondering how in holy holly he was supposed to administer the stuff.
Which, by the way, would have been for the creature to drink it if he had to guess. So it really was good that Derek was here.
"Holy honking daffodils!" the Australian cursed under his breath when the creature began screeching. Grabbing a syringe of his own, Aron quickly set it up for another injection on a different mutant, hopefully before more of them started making noise.
Rushing to one of the cages, he skipped over handling protocol entirely and opened the cage door. Syringe on the table and out of the way, he pulled the critter out of its cage by the scruff of its neck and held it in place on one of the tables with his arm and body. Reaching for the cure with his free hand, he leaned down to whisper to the mutant like he would were he speaking to his own son, "Not to worry, it'll be over soon."
Er...one way or another. He supposed. Right. Optimistic thinking.
Pinching the mutant's skin, he swiftly administered the cure....and waited.

Mutant Y and Mutant W, both in the care of their respective humans, wiggled and thrashed about as the cure was administered. Neither fancied being poked by more needles and squeaked loudly to protest. As soon as the needles were out and the cure began to move about their system, both creatures mellowed out and became drowsy. Soon, their eyes closed and they fell fast asleep. Visibly breathing and in no pain.

Harmony watched with wide eyes as mutant y slowly but surely stopped shrieking and thrashing. "I think it's working!" If anything, it was certainly calming the distressed creatures enough so that they weren't crying out in pain any longer. Pain relief was certainly something to be thankful for.
As Aron handled mutant w, the red head hurried to grab another. They needed to get this cure into all of the creatures a.s.a.p.

Derek watched closely as the Creatures Department Head administered the potion to one of the mutants as its body went rigid and it started shrieking in pain. It was the moment of truth and they'd all find out if their efforts had been enough.
Apparently they had. At least the creature seemed to calm down and... fall asleep? Merlin, talk about close call.
He glanced at his own boss and the creature he had been taken care of and that mutant seemed to be in the same state as the one Harmony had treated, so it was a good sign.
Derek saw that, as Harmony went over to another mutant, there was still another one without the cure. He wasn't going to wait around because Merlin knew how fast those things could die on them, so the lab technician also went over to a mutant.
Merlin, it was ugly.
However, Derek had dealt with worse things before - as living human beings acting like actual zombies, for example - and didn't hesitate. He pulled the horrible-looking, monkey-like creature out of its cage - probably not as graciously as the others - and administered the cure as well as he could.

Ember held her breath. She wanted this to work SO badly. Dearrrr Merlin! Sweet Circe! WHATEVER WAS OUT THERE--LET THIS WORK! She held onto Mr. Y as tightly as she could without hurting him as the 'cure' was injected...poor dear. She hoped he wouldn't have to endure anymore needles in his lifetime...
And then...Mr. W as well...he seemed better too! She smiled at Derek--Emmalee Quinn? And even ARON because her mutants were CURED! Well..they SEEMED to be cured. "Oh happy day--" she whispered, and she rocked Mutant Y a little. "Can I put him back? Or do you want to have a look?" she asked Harmony softly.

Aron's heart had admittedly stopped when the creature in his care had closed his eyes. If the creature had died, he may have had to have done the cowardly thing and dismissed himself before either of the Creatures ladies took notice. No offense, ladies, the tears were just a bit too much for him to deal with during working hours.
Scooping up the sleeping critter in his hand, he examined the creature with what he knew with his rudimentary creatures knowledge and then looked to Harmony. "It may be wise for the two of you to give each of them an examination," he nodded towards Eden. "It seems to be working, but it is probably in their best interest to test their DNA again in the morning."
And with the work day drawing to a close, it would be in everyone's best interest to get some sleep.
Unless one of them was going to stay here overnight? He was willing to put his galleons on that being Ember.

"That's the plan," she informed Aron and Ember, already observing the mutant she was holding with a critical eye. "Let's give them a once over, Ember, and then we can place them back in their cages." The red head was getting some of her color back, the sense of shock and panic having subsided. There was still that lingering feeling of dread deep down in the pit of her stomach, though. Small but present and mostly because the mutants had proved unpredictable.
"Emmalee, Derek, Aron, I think this is all we can do for now. Aron, if you want to send Derek tomorrow to do that testing, I'll be here." And exhausted most likely but hopefully with a renewed sense of hope. "I can't thank you all enough for your help." Her own employees included.

Aron glanced over at Derek. It would really be up to him if he wished to perform the examinations from now on personally or if he would rather leave such tasks in the very capable hands of Creatures employees.
"I think we can leave all further testing and examinations in your department's capable hands," he said to Harmony. He was a little unwilling to write this case off as officially over, seeing as it had been years in the making, but it did all appear to just that. Over. "I'll make sure a report is on your desk by morning as well, Harmony." Which meant it was time to pow wow a little with Derek. Which would be two fwoopers with one stone because there was something else he would like to discuss with the nervous gentleman.
He gave a proud, but not too cocky, look about the room. "Seeing as I am just taking up space here, I'll leave you lot to finishing up." Because he had reports to write before heading home. Giving everyone one last nod, the department head dismissed himself and made his way back to level 3.
