Isobel frowned, hearing some kind of commotion as she was sat in her office. That was unusual. She couldn't usually here anything. Her office was quite good at that. She excited it, and had a look around. Hmm. Nothing seemed too odd right now, not in the reception area. She could hear voices though. Not in the reception, because no one was here, and she was sure it wasn't the employees. So she decided to have a quick peek into the corridor maze. She didn't really want anyone to try and break into the department. She knew it was kind of hard to find the place, so hopefully that was what was going on. She was expecting to find what she did find though. "Oh..." Was that a flying Carpet. And was that Tasha? "Oh wow..." |
He'd nearly fallen over when the carpet had zoomed around Tasha. Diving after her he'd tried to catch it before it had flown out of the work areas. Taking chase he'd followed the carpet all the way to level 9 and was now entering the corridor maze. "Tasha...Charles?" he called out. Where in merlin's left foot had the carpet gone to? Hearing voices he followed the sound. Coming upon Isobel he shook his head "Any idea how to get it down?" |
Lots of people to play with! Maybe they'd take chase? Zipping around a corner the carpet flew down another corridor. |
SPOILER!!: Everyone Tasha wanted to scream. The people hardly visible in the damp corridor thought she and Charles were either lost or just testing a new way of travelling around the ministry building. Could they be more wrong? The sneaky carpet had taken them hostage couldn't they see that? She glanced over at Charles for a moment before she called down trying to not sound snide but Tasha had to let them know what was going on. "No, we are not lost or trying out a new way of travelling around the ministry." "The carpet has taken us hostage and we can't get down." She said slowly and articulated every word in a serious and desperate tone. Could they get it now? Sighing Tasha was just waiting for the carpet to drop her or spin her around when she heard her sister voice. "Isobel, is that you? Help us! We can't get down. The carpet is mad! And then Gavin arrived too. He must have chased after the carpet from level 5. "Gavin! Stun it! Before it------," what Tasha wanted to say more was muffled as the carpet took off again. |
Wasn't long before their Head of Department came to to see what all the fuss was about. It wasn't that she needed to. Prototypes got tested all the time and this one was even better before it was actively taking feedback as it did-- Oh dear... Gavin watched as Mr. Higareda ran towards them. The man looked winded. It was this sort of thing that kept him in his room. All this craziness, all these people suddenly showing up. He could do without it all. Just as he got set to simply leave them standing around, because clearly no one but him had work to get back to, he heard the woman say something about being held hostage and the carpet being mad. Merlin's beard, what happened out in these corridors while he was locked away in the comfort of the Ever-Locked Room? He turned at the sound of his name, completely forgetting that the other man held the same name and saw them being whisked off again. Oh no. No. Absolutely not. This was not something that got listed in his job description. Flying Carpet hunting. Had this place turned into a circus? He took a look in the direction the carpet flew. He was going to have to give chase anyway, wasn't he? SIGH. Well off he went, because someone had to, and it had to be someone as wonderful as him. Story of his life, really. |
Evelyn just stood and stared as more and more people showed up. The corridor was cramped as it was, and this turning into a show and tell event wasn't on her list of things to do today, and there was QUITE a lot of things to do. None of which involved a faulty magic carpet and lack of elbow room. Hostages...please. They just want to take it for a ride, didn't they? Not that she could blame them. Magic carpets were awesome. Oh, and there they went. Au-revoir, good folk! She stood there for a good long five seconds before an eyebrow raised and a deep breath taken. "Well..." She wasn't chasing anyone today. Back to work for her. |
The second Tasha had been picked up by the carpet again, Charles had made sure that she was securely on the thing this time and had just peered over the edge of the darn thing as it took them through the Ministry. The second they'd gotten into the corridor, he'd noticed her unsureness and had reached over to offer her a hand. "Lay down, it'll be easier to hold on and stay on.' he nodded again. He'd kept his silence as others asked frankly stupid questions and hadn't believed a word of what Tasha had said. He'd managed to turn in time to see Gavin and had doubled his grip on the carpet and Tasha the second that the carpet decided it wanted to play even more. "It's just playing, Natasha, I'm sure it will tire soon." he hoped to soothe her nerves with the possibility of this ending soon. Though, at his age, he wasn't sure he was too pleased to be on the top of a playful flying carpet. |
Zipping back and forth along the corridors, it swung around one of the people on the ground hoping to catch another to join the other two. |
Alexandria was just on way from voting in the polls and heading back toward the space chamber, when she heard loud noises. The Mysteries Department was known for being quiet, so why was there noises coming from that corridor? Turning down the corridor towards the arched entrance, Alex put on her inquisitive mindset as she glanced around. Wait. "Is that a .... flying carpet?" She asked to no one in particular, oblivious to the fact that Gavin and Evelyn were right there. "This is why flying carpets are banned in Britain." Sigh. "Impedimenta!" the Astronomist cast toward the carpet as she withdrew her wand. |
Turning to head back to the entrance of their work area, Evelyn squeaked and hopped back when the carpet flew right around her. She had no time for this! There was work to be done and she was pretty sure one of the flames under a cauldron was still going. Granted it would've been a low flame, but another explosion wasn't necessary for their department. Do not make her take out her wand! Because... Oh, Alex was here. "You mean, banned for being completely awesome?" Hehe. So truuue. |
Swerving around the person who sent a spell at it again the carpet started spinning again before taking off down another corridor trying to avoid the spells. |
His eyes followed the carpet as it spun around someone who tried to slow it down "It appears to be frightened or nervous around spells. Either we figure out how to take it by surprise or we try and coax it down I think." Ducking as it flew over his head down another corridor he sighed and shook his head looking towards Isobel. |
SPOILER!!: Carpet people At least Charles didn’t appear to be injured Tasha noted as the carpet seemed to have stopped for the time being. Taking his offered hand she did what he told her but she doubted that it would make any difference. Closing her eyes she mumbled. "I'm still dizzy. And this carpet ride isn’t helping." Gripping the carpet tightly with both her hands she looked up at Charles. "I hope for our sakes that you are right. But the carpet is magical though so I’m not sure if those tire out." Tasha honestly didn’t know much about carpets at all except that they were banned in Britain. The carpet took off again back and forth along the corridors. At least she didn't get motion sickness otherwise she’d have gotten sick by now. Then somebody one the ground made another attempt to cast a spell at the carpet. It of course evaded it again. As it swept past everyone and out the corridor Tasha called over her shoulder "Izzy, do something! Get help from Wes." |
Vickers descended the stairs and turned for the corridor that was the Department of Mysteries. This wasn’t the first time he was here—his uncle had given him a tour back in the day when he ran the place. Of course the boy never did get past the visitor’s area after trying to sort out that mind boggling corridor. And guess what—here he was again. He stopped short just as the now passenger-less carpet made another spin down the corridor. And more Ministry personnel was there. So maybe they can get a handle on this? Then again he is from the Transportation department. He kinda feels he has to do something other than stare. “Uhm.... anybody knows who owns this?” Because his boss lady said she didn’t authorize anything of the sort, which means unless someone shows some paperwork or starts owning up to this, this was gonna get impounded, so to speak. And who else better to take it in than the boy who is a fan of anything that levitates off the ground? |
All of this was rather interesting. And she really did not know what was going on at all. What she did know though, was that she did not want that flying carpet getting into her department at all. Oh no. She glanced towards where she knew the entrance was. "Nobody goes in...." Because she knew the second that entrance was opened, that carpet would be in there. And it was not causing havoc in her department at all. She'd worked hard to keep it organized and it was not getting ruined. Not at all. "Calm down Natasha." Because she was sure getting worked up was not going to help. But Izzy really didn't have any clue about how she was going to get the carpet down. Hearing another voice, she glanced towards the new man that had turned up. Did everyone want to come into mysteries today? She raised an eyebrow as he asked about the carpet. Did it look like any of them knew who owned it. "If we knew who owned it we wouldn't be chasing it around the corridor." Not that she was chasing it. Her heels were not made for chasing. |
we dumb & didn't realize there was a new page until like the other day *hides* Quote:
"That .... rug .... is NOT awesome. It's a death trap and wherever it came from, well, it ..." Quote:

Take it by surprise? "It's a carpet! For the love of achondrite! How do you propose we 'take it by surprise'" It wasn't even human! Or ... was it? Tilting her head, she eyed the carpet suspiciously. Quote:

"That .... is definitely not mine!" Alex told the boy. "And good luck with trying to catch it. It seems adverse to any sorts of magical spells." Quote:
"I wonder...." Alex said, thinking outloud... "I wonder if, even though it seems to hide from spells.... and dodge them, perhaps if we all tried the same spell on it together?" Surely a group of four or five adult wizards performing one spell in unison would be stronger than one person's spell individually.... |
Shaking his head when another person appeared and asked if someone owned the carpet. "No we think it might be the carpet that went missing a few months ago." Ducking as the carpet went flying over their heads again he stared after it. "A bunch of spells at one time, might work." he muttered. Anything to stop the carpet. "We need to do something with regards to Charles and Tasha though, we don't want to stun it and have them fall off the carpet. Unless...we stun them as well at least it'll prevent injury." |
suggestion maybe? So.... no owner? Check. Illegal? Check. Posing a danger people and/or surroundings? One big almighty CHECK. Totally the cue for impounding yup. The former Ravenclaw shifted his head between the Ministry folks as they spoke. He winced about the stunning part—there were people on it, and the probability of hitting something flat and thin accurately is a whole lot less than the chances of them actually hitting upright, full-bodied Wizards. It was risky at best. “Uhm.... if I may make a suggestion?” he said raising his hand a bit. Yeah classroom habit not quite broken yet “Why don’t we try trapping it? This corridor has walls--” he started, pointing to either side of the long narrow corridor “—all we need to do is block off the open ends of the corridor, starting here where I stand, and the other over there...” he nudged his head towards the other end of the corridor across from him “That way we can box it in, floor to ceiling, using shield charms. Somebody cast a cushioning charm across the floor as well, because it would likely try to throw its passengers off as we narrow down its flying space. Once it doesn’t have much room to move its easier to shoot it with a spell—and Impediment jinx or something.” |
Going away (thursday-sunday) i'll post from my phone when i can. Tasha kept gripping the carpet tightly and watching it closely. Who knew when it would sprout into action next. If she wasn't gripping the carpet she could very fall off and hit some part of her body like her head again. Not a fun prospect. On the floor more people had joined the other's in trying to decide what to do to get her and Charles down. Hearing her sister's voice amongst them she called down to her. "That's easy for you to say Izzy. You are not the one who already is feeling dizzy from a bad bump on the head." Thanks to the rowdy carpet. Listening to the suggestions Tasha called down. "Blocking its escape routes and then hiting it with an impediment jinx doesn't seem like such a bad idea. But that's just my opinion." But could they decide already? The carpet had probably rested by now. |
Demetrius was on his way from an errand. Though he could not remember what it was he had in his hand. It was something in a box. He knew it was not dangerous, whatever it was. It was probably a prank he was saving for a proper time. He stopped in the middle of the corridor. He suddenly had an desire for something to eat from across the street and did not really feel like going to work just now. He turned around and hit directly into Evelyn. The box opened and both of them got covered in darkness. Well now he knew what was in the box . Instant Darkness Powder. Well that is a surprise both the powder and Evelyn. He has not had a informal talk with her since he puked on her shoes at that time. Demetrius tries to forget about that. But it all came rushing back and this powder might make it worse. |
He had been listening to the comments and suggestions from the people below and now he was just feeling strangely irritated with them. Charles glanced at Tasha when she mentioned feeling dizzy. He took a moment to think about what they could do and ducked his head so he could speak quietly to Tasha. "Don't you think it would be easier for us to get it?" he asked, wondering if maybe them stunning the carpet and the others putting a cushion charm on the floor so they had a soft landing would work. When he looked up, everything was dark and he was surprised. "Oh Merlin, what's going on now?" He couldn't even see his own hands! |
What the heck was going on? He was stood there and suddenly everything went dark! "Finite!" Nothing. "Lumos!" Nothing. Darn it! "Charles! Tasha!" he called out through the darkness. "Try something from where you are on the carpet, we can't see you, we'll narrow down the corridor and block off exits. Yeah he thought the idea had been a good one. |
It had to get out of there, they were talking of doing something once again to it! Picking up speed it headed quickly to the end of the corridor unknowingly that it was blocked off. |
SPOILER!!: Charles, Gavin, Carpet Tasha's patience was wearing down. Ontop of feeling dizzy and having a bump on the head the people on the ground couldn't agree on what they should do. Hearing Charle's suggestion Tasha shrugged and nodded. "Yes, we have a better shot at hitting it. Let's stung it with some impediment jinxes." And then everything went pitch BLACK. Hearing Gavin's voice coming from somewhere beneath them in the darkness she called down. "Charles and I will stung it from up here. Can you guys put a cushioning charm on the floor?" Tasha was about to shout down something else when she felt the carpet speed up again. Not seeing anything se SCREEECHED out in suprise as the carpet zoomed forwards. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" she manged to yelp out before they crashed right smack into the blocked off exit. |
Oh wow. Everything was pitch blank. "Erm...." How on earth had that happened. "Everyone stay calm...." She murmured, shaking her haead, though nobody could actually see it. Izzy kind of figured that he "stay calm" wasn't really going to work seeing as it was very black, and there was a rogue flying carpet around. This had to be instant darkness powder or something. She would be having words with whoever had brought it in. Or dropped it at least. It was not the best thing to do really. It wasn't top of her priorities right now though. Because there was still a rogue flying carpet around. Or there was before it went crashing into the wall. "Erm...." Oh dear. Oh dear. "Tash...you not dead?" She called out. Because you know. She still couldn't really see. |
