The Corridor Maze and the Arched Entrance After exiting the lifts you are greeted by long, tiled corridors with identical, arched walls on either side. The closest corridor leads off into a stairwell that descends into Level 10 and the Courtrooms below. Most of the other corridors have interconnecting passages leading back into themselves. If one doesn’t work on this level you will most often find yourself confused and end up back to where you startedd; which is usually by the lift or the nearby antechamber that is the Level 9 Visitors Receiving Area. Unspeakables eventually get used to the network of interconnecting corridors and know which arched wall is the entrance to their department. The double doors of the arched entrance do not appear until the Unspeakable (and a select staff of the Ministry) approaches with the intentions of entering. Only then does the door materialize from a blank wall, vanishing again once the person passes the threshold. Since this level houses a highly confidential department of the Ministry the entire area has been charmed to safeguard its security. Point-Me, Alohamora, magical lock-picking penknives and most other spells and devices will not work here. Anti-apparition spells are also set in place preventing anybody apparating in or out freely. Seeing as the department head is an ex-auror there are now even more security spells in place within the department and surrounding corridors. This may just be paranoia on her behalf, but she likes the security. Only during emergency cases does the Department Head (or select staff of the Ministry) lift the protection spells around this level. OOC: Any Ministry employee can RP in this thread. But please READ the paragraph above to be guided on how to RP your charrie accordingly. |
Damien's language was very...colourful. Legend ignored it as he quickly, made his wait to the water cooler, passing the other man. They had to hurry if Sakura could be in the Ministry like the Patronus said. They couldn't just take their time! Legend's eyes opened a bit as he came to a halt. "You know Damien..." He murmured...an idea popping into his mind. It probably wasn't the best time to say it...but...it seemed so brilliant to him! "If we were to somehow....change the Point Me spell...we could track people in the cult." |
Why was Legend in front of him? WHat part of watching someone's back meant walking in FRONT of them. Geez. Damien picked up his pace and moved in front of him and said, "Watch my back, kid." He wasn't mean, rude, or even short with him. WHich was SOMETHING. Slowing he listened to the YATI and nodded. "Something like... a mash up of Point Me and... Homenum Revelio? That's alright, kid." He was clearly brighter than he looked. "Well what do you suggest?" It WAS his idea and all. Damien would give him the lead on it. |
Ever since they had entered the department, Esme had one hand on her wand, and the other clutching the evidence bag. She had hung back momentarily, having heard the sound of voices as she and Elinor had finally reached Level 9. Esme glanced back at her partner before looking again towards the voices. The owners came into view soon enough, and she immediately recognized them from downstairs. She carefully stepped out into the open, softly clearing her throat. "Esme Bass." She said immediately, not wanting to alarm those that stood before her. "Mr. Bole requested that Elinor" She gestured to her side "And I search Sakura's office for evidence." She wasn't exactly sure where the man's office was, but had little doubt that the men in front of her could certainly point her in the right direction. |

"Yeah! Exactly!" He hadn't even thought of Homenum Revelio, but those two together...it would work perfect for catching bad guys! "Well...I don't really know. I was just saying...if we could make something like that..." He looked down. Yeahh. It was times like this when Legend realized he was really inexperienced. "Sorry." Quote:

Damien was SURE the door to the place was nearby... he had been to Mysteries before. Not to mention he was MLE... he had seen the entire Ministry's fllor plan and had personally studied it quite frequently. One never knew where one might need to go. Heh. He spun and pointed his wand as he heard a voice...which immediately announced WHO it was. RIght on. Nodding his head at the lady that joined them he said, "Van sent you. Got it. Well as soon as we get in then I will escort you to Sakura's office. Wands out, be alert, and please do be quiet." Yep. Then as he turned to gaze toward where he was SURE there was a door he nearly smacked himself on the forehead in frustration. "Homenum Intendo Ren Sakura! " he exclaimed as he placed his wand in the palm of his hand... and watched as it began to hover above his palm and then pointed toward... a wall. HA! With his other wand he began casting Finite at the area and then called out, "Portus Revelio!" BAM. Say hello to the entrance, yo! |
Woah! Sudden entrance! Legend just blinked, completely surprised at what just happened. But....he could have done it himself. "Yeah. Yeah, that's exactly what I meant..with that spell and that way...and everything." Exactly. Legend took a deep breath, ready for whatever really. His grip on his wand tightened. |
Esme had had an inkling that the men would have brandished their wand at the sound of movement, and she showed no outward sign of surprise when one of them did so. As one of the men spoke up, offering to escort them to Sakura's office, she nodded in understanding, pulling her wand from her robes. "Not a problem." She watched (in fascination) as an entrance was suddenly revealed by a few choice spells. Pretty cool. Hiding a smile, she waited alertly for the next move. |
Patronus to MLE A slivery labrador dog bounded towards the watercooler and the people near it. It wagged its tail then opened its mouth to speak in a Welsh-accented woman's voice. "We're pretty sure Sakura, Wrekin and Provel are in the Department of Mysteries work room. Please come to the visitor's area - we've got a plan, but we need more people. Thanks." The dog barked, and then bounded off in search of more backup. |
A patronus... THAT loud. Damien listened and then shook his head. At the moment he had his own things to take care of. Placing his fingers to his lips he moved forward slightly, hand on the door. He could FEEL that the door was fortified and no telling what all the sick man had put in place to protect it. SIGHS. "It's heavily fortified... we will all have to cast Finite Incantatem and Finite and see what else we can cast to get it to lighten up some. Then we blast it down," he said with relish. |
Esme cringed as a Patronus appeared in their midst and announced the whereabouts of some of the cultists. She wished there was a quieter way to go about things. That was no surprise there. No doubt there would be protection spells of the sort. She just needed to get through that door and into Sakura's office to begin her search. She raised her wand in anticipation and waited for the command. |
So they weren't listening to the patronus? Legend wanted to turn around and go do what the patronus said, but then Damien would probably hex him into oblivion for not taking orders. And plus, he was suppose to be watching his back. Were they all suppose to cast it at the same time or what? Legend just made a face. They were going WAY to slow for his liking. He raised his wand and pointed it at the door."Finite Incantatem!" Eh, Damien had enough time to move out of the way. |
WHAAAAAA! Why was he casting before Damien gave the word?! BAH. Stepping out of the way Damien silently cursed the YATI and then raised both wands to silently cast his own Finite spells. The combined force of their spells should work... |
Well, she now knew at least one of them was impatient....though she had to admit that she was a bit impatient as well. As she watched, the other man raised his wand silently, no doubt casting the spell nonverbally. Following this, she immediately cast 'Finite!!!" She shrugged her shoulders to hitch the evidence bag higher, and gripped it more securely. Hopefully, the charms set it place were not highly advanced and they would be able to gain fairly easy access..... |
Now time for his FAVORITE part of the plan. "Let's commence with the blasting and such," he said in an excited whisper. Raising both wands he smirked as he cast a nonverbal Bombarda Maxima and waited on the others to follow suit. |
Blasting? If this wasn't such a serious situation, she would have laughed out loud at the obvious excitement in the man's voice. Alrighty then. She raised her wand yet again, a sudden chill running through her. Why did she feel as though something was off? She cast the needed spell seconds after Damien had done so, backing up a few steps as she did so. It seemed as though much time had already passed. Maybe she should send Elinor to one of the other offices to search for evidence, just to make sure they got everything. |
Did he really HAVE to blast it? Legend really just wanted to set it on fire. He wondered if he could get away with that. But it probably wouldn't be a good idea if they had to go through the entrance. "Confringo!" Legend said loudly. |
That was IT! It gave way. Damien smiled briefly at the others two with him and motioned with his head toward the entrance. "Hex to harm or worse. This is not the time to be timid. You stay with us Esme and then we can take you to the office," he said before ducking through to the corridor. He was not running per se... but he was definitely heading toward the work area with a purpose. |
"Yeah, wand out, be ready for anything." Legend said with a grin toward the woman-Esme. Turning back to Damien he followed him (cause he was watching his back like he said he would) into the work area. Now it was getting serious. |
Ooooh boy. This wasn't exactly what she had planned when she had first set out to do this, but if this was what was going to get the job done....A list of spells rapidly ran through her head as she followed the two men, holding her wand high. She glanced back at Eli as she did so, giving the woman an encouraging nod. Let's do this. |
Quietly, Dacs crept toward a a watercooler from the passage way until she came up on a hole in the wall. Shaking her head she said"That's not coming out of my paycheck.". She crept through the hole and went on as quietly as she could. She wasn't versed on the structure of Level 9 but she followed her instincts that didn't fail her so far. Dacs continued to calm her flared temper and channel it into complete focus as she went along. |
Posting here for good measure. RL is a little hectic ATM Quote:

POP! Hawk Ebony appeared in the Department of Mysteries. His wand was instantly at the ready, and he jerked sideways with his eyes piercing the room. He relaxed into a more casual stance, as there were no Cultists or people under their spell. All seemed silent in the next room, as he expected. Hawk silently entered the work area. |

New Timeline: First day of work back after the Ministry Ball.... The elevator doors opened, the pleasant voice welcoming Corin to Level 9. That felt odd to him initially, as he has been used to it ushering him towards Level 6. But there he was, Department of Mysteries. It was a bit like coming home… except his last home over the past decade was located across the pond. Curious he was at how different—or similar—this was from his own Dept of WIARD Stateside. Guess theres just one way to find out… He walked down the arched corridors, unable to keep his shoes from echoing across the tiled hallway. As far as he knew his access should be up and ready to go, so it was just a question of finding where the doors were right? Should be simple enough… But after several minutes of walking around he was starting to get the feeling that he was going in circles. For one thing he keeps seeing a Visitors Lounge. Just how many of these lounges are there anyway? Drawing a impatient sigh and letting it out slowwwwwly, he tapped his briefcase against his leg and wished the door would just pop up in front of him. Because seriously he was getting a little tired walking around looking for it like a new hire. Which technically he was… except he wasn’t that kinda NEW new…. He turned his heel thinking of going back to the Ministers office to have his security access checked when lo and behold—there it was, the arched entrance. And whats left of what looks to have been massive double doors. Hmmm…. Guess those battle rumors he’s been hearing about were looking to be quite factual. |
