And it was sort of work-related. Sort of.
He spotted the wizard who must've been the man in charge of these flying carpet rides and approached. "Which would you say is your fastest carpet?" So long as his wife wasn't around, Jasper was going to go all in. Though, she may not try to stop him. He actually had no idea how Heather felt about flying carpets, but being a former player for Holyhead she might have had a broom bias. New person. New person. Achilles gave the man a smile as he came up to him, and a short, quick nod. Fastest carpet. Thrill seeker do we have here?
"For flying as of today, I'd say they're all relatively the same speed in terms of flying. That also depends on how well, or bad you use it. Relatively safe, there should be no problems in pickings, so any would just do."
Now, if he was asking in general for product reasons, that was a different story. "Buying purposes, the newer models, are of course, the fastest, prepared to fly at maximum speeds. I'd choose any of the Africa manufactured carpets." Wink. Well, Achilles had to help out the carpets that he worked on. "If you're a first time buyer, they should all work well, especially if they've been overlooked by the company that makes them. Generally all carpets should be fast in their own way, for their own purposes, and work accordingly to their rider." Was that good enough of an answer?
"Need more specific details, sir? Anything else you wish to know?"

The way the man was talking, Jasper started getting ideas. As if a Flying Carpet were an attainable purchase for him right there, right now. He wanted a Flying Carpet. He'd always wanted one. He could do it. He could rent out a garage space, perhaps inexpensively in Cape Town (where he'd always fancied owning summer property anyway!), and store the carpet in there whilst he was home and working.
He could do this.
This was feasible.
The man had sold him.
"No, sir, I think that'll just about answer my questions on the speed of the carpets. You certainly know your stuff!" That was about when Jasper began to feel the weight of a stare. Like two eyes boring into the back of his salt 'n pepper head. "Excuse me for just a moment?" He asked the gentleman manning the carpets for permission to return later, essentially. Quote:

She saw how his eyes would light up at just the mere mention of them.
She walked around and spotted Jasper catching the end of his question. Fastest?? Oh, dear. If only it were a broom. She wasn't sure how she felt about a flying carpet. Sure there was history behind them but that was all that would hold her attention. She sighed but couldn't bring herself to stop it, after all if she decided to become a Holyhead once more she was certain he would support her in that.
She kept her distance hoping her wouldn't spot her, but she stared at him. Did he feel her stare? Did he feel it in the back of his head? The stare of a supportive, but slightly concerned for his safety wife?
He gave a glance over to the right at first, then to the left. And there they were. Two little emerald burrs. "Heather." He smiled and came over. "What are you doing here, dove? Where is your mother?" He asked looking around for the older witch not assuming this to be a fib. Older witch. Ha! He and she were just about the same age, which always made him feel oddly about being married to Heather.
When he was close enough to do so, he bent over to give her a warm and enveloping hug.

Heather couldn't exactly hear what the man was saying to Jasper, but the look that crossed her husbands face made her a little more nervous than it probably should have. It was the look of a man plotting. Scheming. Dreaming.
It never failed. Heather should have known better than to try from her husband. She pushed herself into the hug and nuzzled her head into his chest for a moment. "Can't I just be the supportive wife that every man wants?" She pulled away and crossed her arms trying to look cross but failing. She smiled but behind it was a little bite of worry. Did Jasper not want her there? Oh...that never crossed her mind till then. "My mother? Home, I would hope." A shudder fell down her spine and she cringed mentally at the tea they all had a couple weeks ago. Grandchildren. Only her mother could be so blunt and honest about such matters. "I wanted to surprise you....support you." She mumbled the words and looked down at her intertwined arms. "Is that okay?"

Finn had hobbled his way over to the testing area. This was really his reason for coming to the symposium. He had really wanted to try out his form of magical transportation. It looked like it was a bit sketchy. How did one not fall off during turns? However, it was magical and it was transportation and he really wanted to try.
