Gavin leaned back in his seat, indicating he was all ears to whatever explanation she had to offer in her defense. By now the memo had been written up, just a few little details to add depending on her next few words.

Ah. Creatures. Harmony's Department. That actually explained so much and for a moment he just sat there wondering why she had to come all the way up here to mess up his Break Room. Plenty Offices between this one and Creature Control. Shame too, he'd thought it might have been something a little more exciting for his time. Finally, he gave a slow nod.

"This is your idea of making people happy?" Back to scribbling on the memo. Quite a bit to add. He glanced across to the clock on the wall, it was just about his lunch hour now and he'd gotten nothing done. The Senior Undersecretary didn't know how to feel about this but he did know he wasn't about to let her off just because she was a lost worker from Level 4. Hardly. He might as well had gotten something out of this, and the frazzled look at the mention of jail was his hook line and sinker.

Gavin maintain a solemn, disciplinary expression, giving away nothing. "I think I've heard enough. You didn't in fact deny having an agenda and I can't have my employees at risk." He folded the memo then tapped it to send it flying from the room before looking to her again. "Can you tell me where I've sent that? What do you think will happen next?"

Ember nodded. Slowly. "Uh--" What did she SAY now? "Well--yeah--sparkles and flowers make people happy." Or most people happy. She had a feeling that this COLD-HEARTED FIEND was not made happy by flowers. Or sparkles. He probably was more into the 'darkness and souls' scene. Like a dementor.

Or something.

But Ember didn't want to pass judgment TOO quickly----

Once more, her lavender eyes WIDENED. "Sir--" she glanced down at her lap and then back up at him. "I assure you. I'm literally not a threat at all--" she was the LAST threatening human EVER. She didn't even KNOW that many hexes--or anything LIKE that. But his little--note was speeeeding away. And Ember honestly had NO idea where that was going--she merely leaned back in her chair and tucked her hair behind her ears. "Um." Um was her favorite word right now, wasn't it? "I'm not sure. Hopefully not to Harmony--" she winced just at the THOUGHT. Though she wasn't sure Harmony would ever be mad. Since technically--Ember hadn't done anything wrong, this man just clearly liked the abuse of puppies and kittens and Ember.

By now she knew the path to Gavin's office too well, so it took little time to reach his door - even if she had lagged behind on purpose. While she did not approve of flowers and hugging, and women touching her boyfriend, she could appreciate Gavin squirming... even if just a little.

There was no need for her to knock, as her presence was requested, nay, demanded and purchased with the promise of pastries. So here she was.

Hazel eyes surveyed the woman sitting opposite Gavin before turning to the man himself. It all looked civil from where she stood. Circe, she was tempted to take a seat and wait to see something happen, to determine what the emergency was... but alas, he did say make it convincing.

"A breach of security, Mr. Isaacs?" she mused as she stepped forward to level with the woman.

Was this necessary? Because it was likely going to cost him a double espresso too.

Flowers and sparkles most certainly did NOT make anyone happy, not by a long shot, not unless you were his 8 year old niece and if you were, you were a few screws short of the madhouse. It was acceptable on Avery, but not on her. It was time to grow up, non? He kept his expression to that of someone not amused even in the slightest and pretended not to hear her insist she wasn't a threat for a moment before responding. "I believe I'll be the judge of that."

His lips tugged up into the faintest of smirks. Harmony would have been enough to spook the young woman? That wouldn't have been any fun at all. "I'm afraid this matter far exceeds your own Department. Infiltrating another level, vandalizing as you did, all things get a person some one on one time with the workers in MLE."

Speaking of, Gavin looked to the door as it opened, positively pleased she'd gotten here so fast...even if that might have been down to the fact he offered sugar. He'd still take it.

"A serious breach." He confirmed with a solemn nod. "I get the feeling she's working with others but she won't turn them in. Real criminal level work here, sneaking by security, who knows what might have happened if I never found her." And a stern look to the obviously freaked young woman. "I think some time in one of your cells would be appropriate to ensuring this never happens again." She'd been meaning to take him down there anyway, right? Then lunch, and pastries then they could go back and release her.

Infiltrating?! Ember just stared at him like he was crazy. "I--I'm a ministry employee--I would never infiltrate somewhere--" she said quickly, her voice becoming very squeaky.

EMBER WAS TERRIFIED OF THE MLE. When she had visited Penelope--GOSH. She sure hoped that-----

DUN DUN DUUUUUUN.

The young woman jumped as someone suddenly came into the office--scooting around and STARING up at who she knew as EMILY BROWNE. Well crud. Ember normally would have smiled and waved and been VERY friendly with the woman--even considering all the things she'd heard about the scary Department Head--but now she was just IN SHOCK. She wasn't really afraid--JUST SHOCKED OKAY?

"I am NOT working with others--or even working--I was just--spreading joy and happiness--" she said quickly, whipping around to face Mr. Grumpy again. CELLS? THEY WANTED TO LOCK HER UP. Ember just stared at them both--SHE WOULD DIE. "Um--well--see--- don't think I've done anything wrong to deserve being LOCKED in a cell--plus Harmony would miss me--" she said in a veeeeery tiny voice.

Ooohhh, jumpy one now wasn't she? Emily noted, still observing the woman in her peripheral. She did very much like when they jumped, when you could feel their muscles tense, hear their breathing falter... and their hearts too. But what Gavin had in mind seemed a little extreme even to her, and that was saying something.

Needless to say, she didn't like having her time wasted, and this matter could easily be resolved without the use of he private parlours so lavishly embellished with bars, which were reserved only for those who truly deserved them. "We'll see about that," she replied to Gavin before shuffling in front of the woman and perching herself on Gavin's desk. The creatures worker was in for a treat, it wasn't everyday that a Ministry employee outside of her level received the honour of being 'interrogated' by her. Very special indeed.

"Miss.. sorry, what's your name?" Name, name, she needed a name, full name if possible, position too. Did people not have the decency to offer introductions these days?

At the rate this was going, he wouldn't even need her down in a cell to remember to keep her flowers, joy and happiness off his level next time. This was brilliant and would perhaps even save on some time that would have been otherwise wasted on this hoax. Her being locked up wasn't crucial to his charade, only the threat mattered. Most times, that was all people really needed--and the Head of MLE, just to make sure they don't call your bluff.

One day she'd look back at thank him. Certain other people might have been completely serious. Him? He was just in for lunch and a show with the girlfriend...who really liked her job....There was no hiding the look she'd gotten and it almost made him feel sorry for the woman--but then he remember she'd ruined his Break Room and tried to hug him and would you believe it? All the sympathy dried up.

Gavin was quite at his leisure, watching to see what would happen next. He'd asked her to be convincing and if she did it right, they could let her go and she could tell ALL her friends if she wanted to, in case they liked going around redecorating too. He was clearly doing good for the greater society and expected his medals and name on a plaque by end of the work hour.

"We'll let Harmony know where you've been when we're all squared away here." Since she was obviously so worried about her Head of Department.

Aaaaand the MLE head was now sitting to close to Ember. Or rather--closer than Ember would want someone who had SCARY eyes to sit. Normally she loved human contact--this woman might have less scary eyes if she was hugged more? Maybe--but Ember just REMAINED CALM.

She might need to use the bathroom after this--yes.

"Uh--Ember. Ember Brighten. Pest Controller." Junior one, at that, but Ember was working hard regardless. She took her job VERY seriously. VERY.

OOOOOHHH NOOOO.

Ember glanced up at the Undersecretary. "Um--could we NOT mention this to Harmony?" she asked, smiling slightly to try to..you know...let him see that she was just an INNOCENT nice little person here. "I'd rather not--you know--let her in-" she squeaked as she turned to look back at..Emily Browne. Ember felt...well...Emily had some positive energy. She could feel it--SHE COULD AND WAIT.

WAIT.

WAIT.

HOLD. THE. PATRONUS.

"Are you two....DATING?" she asked, eyes wide, SMILING so suddenly--DEAR MERLIN EMBER COULD TELL. "The vibe you two are giving off--just--yes--" She nearly bounced in her seat and had to control herself from...you know..whipping out her wand and making heart confetti go everywhere. "I have some pastries--" she pulled out her tin from Dmitry. "Um--I can't remember what kind--but you're welcome to have them--love birds--" Well. Her previous nervousness was FORGOTTEN because of LOOOOOVEEEE in the air and whatnot.

She started humming "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"....very loudly.

Yes, letting Harmony handle her employees sounded like a ... wait, no, not a good enough deal. The woman was all sorts of softer, all marshmallowy and oozing that hippy 'goodness'... like this one. My couldn't incessantly happy people stay out of her life? Why? "She'll be made aware," however this all went, it was the least they could do.

And as if on cue, the woman started driveling. Ember Brighten. Pest Controller. Merlin, fumes get to her head or something? "We can and we will," Emily chimed in, and it was HER that would be asking the questions thank you very much. "You said you were spreading joy and happiness... how exactly were you doing that?" Did it have anything to do with the petals she found strewn on her floors? The ones she'd SMUSHED into the carpet on the way here? The ones she would be BURNING to ashes the moment she got back?

This woman was going to find herself with an official ban from Level Two, and One by the sounds of things.

... And then there was that. Say what?

...

They were dating, yes, but WHAT? She opened her mouth to protest, not even thinking of consequently hurting Gavin's feelings, but she didn't get the chance. Ember started harping on about vibes and things. Turning slightly to look at Gavin over her shoulder, she gave him a look as if to say, quit vibing! And then there were pastries. It was like her worst nightmare seduced her best dream, and they had twisted babies together.

"No," she replied curtly. "And if you don't cooperate you will find yourself in a cel---"

She never got to finish her sentence when the woman broke out in song. IN SONG.

How was it that a bunch of nutbag healers came through and declared everyone insane or stressed or whatever... but let this one get away? She was the Queen of all nutjobs.

The singing, she would not tolerate though. It was difficult to explain how her wand got to her palm as quickly as it did, call it a new world record, but Emily performed a quick and targeted silencing charm on the intolerable Ember. "You'll keep quiet if you know what's good for you," she hissed to the woman, and as for Gavin....

"And you wonder why I prefer the company of criminals..." This was why.

That was...interesting. Anyone else get the feeling little Miss Sunshine was as squirmy about having her Head of Department know as being locked in a cell? He could hardly see why with the aura pulsating off that one but you never knew what happened behind Harmony's closed doors, and he didn't think he cared to find out either.

No comments on her working in Pest Control under the circumstances before them now. None. ~~Hah~~.

But then all of THAT happened. Gavin couldn't really find the words to describe it but it was one of those reasons why he stayed in his potions lab and ignored humanity. Before a protest could be made, Emily was giving him looks, as if this was his fault. All he did was sit at his desk and watch. No vibes here, not unless you counted the overly amused and somewhat sadistic ones. Hardly whatever this Ember woman was picking up.

Emily had given the standard answer, leaving him to simply blink and stare in utter disbelief at the woman that went from 0-10 in 2.5 seconds. She. Was. Vandalizing. His office.

The unamused look only seemed to worsen as heart shaped confetti sprouted from her wand and fell all over the place. Some daring to invade his space at his desk. His eyes glided back to Emily at her statement. Criminals. Right. "I told you to lock her up. Don't see why you felt you had to talk to her first." As if his assessment wasn't good enough. Gavin knew a whackjob when he saw one and this one right here was downright unstable.

His expression darkened some as he turned to face the woman. "You will not, under any circumstance on this earth, ever use your wand on this level again." And he MEANT it. One more drop of happiness and he'd recommend that Harmony shorten her tenure at this establishment.

Merlin he'd had enough with the frills and confetti and giggles and HER. Could they lock her up now? And forget they did after? Just for a few days is all.

They COULDN'T tell Harmony?! She would beg them on her KNEES if she had to. Letting go of ALL of her dignity--"Well--glitter--and flowers--make most people happy. I thought it's brighten up the dreary break room--" she said as she sunk into her chair--lower, that is.

But all of that was forgotten--when she figured out they were DATING and she was SINGING and HUMMING--and suddenly--HER VOICE WAS GONE.

Ember's eyes WIDENED and she just staaared at Ms. Browne--OH MY. She shut her mouth and crossed her arms over her chest, leaning back in her chair and noticing--oh my--she WAS creating confetti--on accident--oops--she waved her wand a bit and stopped THAT nonsense-it clearly would get her in MORE trouble, before shoving it back into her holster.

Couldn't he SEEEE that was an accident?! MERLIN. Ember just nodded though, and sighed. Not much she could do without a voice. Not much DEFENDING of herself. At the mention of being 'locked up,' Ember's ears perked and she shook her head--NO NO NO. She did NOT want to be locked up--she had things to do! Her break was almost over for Merlin's sake--but she didn't move. Not with so much authority here. She held up her hands as if surrendering, and shrugged up at Emily--as if to say, 'hello, I give up, please don't lock me up--just lecture me and send me on my way, yes yES?' but of course she wasn't sure the MLE head would get all of that from just one look.

Pity.

Glitter and flowers... that was all she needed to know. This woman deserved to be locked away. Deserved it. In fact, could Gavin not simply fire her and insist Harmony look for other candidates for the position? Clearly she wasn't the best suited for the role of Pest Controller. "From this day forward, you will not be spreading any joy or happiness anywhere but on your own level, do I make myself clear?" A simply nod of the head or something would suffice. "In addition to that, you are banned from level one and two... and three also..." because Merlin knew Aron didn't need the distractions either, he could thank her later.

But alas... what were they going to do with her? It seemed as though to woman did need a few moments of solitary confinement to consider her actions... but a cell might be too harsh a penalty - in the eyes of others.

Ignoring Creatures Girl for the moment, Emily turned her attention back to Gavin. "I want that food you promised me, but should we leave her locked in here to contemplate her actions? Or a broom cupboard?" Perfectly serious over here.

Contrary to what this woman kept insisting, the Break Room was not dreary, it was professional; something she clearly was not. This being the case, he hardly gave a reaction when Emily banned her from his level, in fact, he'd have done it himself if she hadn't beaten him to it and Level 3? No complaints here and he didn't think Aron would have any either, not when it was keeping the likes of this one out of his hair.

There was no denying the fact the woman was shaken but evidently not enough to prevent the use of her wand for the very reason she was in this position. This, of course, meant they couldn't be going easy on her, not if they wanted to make the point clear.

"I'm not leaving her in here, not even if you posted your best Aurors." No, absolutely not, he wanted her gone. "And a closet is far too scandalous. Give the Daily Prophet something like that to work with and they'll start questioning your holding cells and your methods." The cogs in his pretty little head began turning as he thought of a solution that would work.

Finally. "I say we lock her in Harmony's office. We'll need official notice of her ban anyway and it'll give them some time to bond and re-evaluate how she lets her employees loose." Yup. That was the game plan. Gavin launched off his desk ans gestured to the door. "Let's go." Then lunch. Yes.

Okay. Ember could have handled--mildly--the not spreading happiness thing. She would have taken that like a TOUGH INDEPENDENT WOMAN. But then--she was banned from LEVEL TWO. Oh dear. Level One she could deal with. WAIT. TWO AND THREE? She might cry...

She might.

MIGHT..........

And them the waterworks began. SHECOULDN'TBEBANNED. Penelope was on Level Two and DEREK on Three--NO. She buried her face in her hands and tried to hide it even thought it was FRUITLESS at this point because she had already started the tears--and--ugh. This was awful. But she had to...remain calm...so she SUCKED in her tears and wiped her eyes and took a few deep breaths and brushed her hair from her face-----and just nodded, looking down at her lap. But Ember had never wanted to melt into a puddle more than she did right now.

Sigh.

They wanted lock her somewhere? Didn't they KNOW this was punishment enough--Ember's heart was BREAKING right now. But she didn't have the will to argue. She just nodded some more and rubbed her eyes--which were all DRY now from that very quick cry-spell. Did they know Ember still couldn't talk? Oh my--the woman was going to just LOSE IT when she got to Harmony's office. Merlin. She had to hold it together--this was a PROFESSIONAL place and if she lost her job--Ember would just be the saddest person in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD.

She'd have to let Derek and Penelope know she wouldn't have able to visit their departments anymore...just the thought was making her VERY teary again.

Scandalous, her methods... there was nothing wrong with her methods, and were she allowed to do as she pleased then the world would be a better place for it this whole fiasco could have been avoided from the beginning. Alas, "Whatever you suggest, Senior Undersecretary..."

Taking the girl to Harmony seemed a decent enough solution, thought she still had a reception area that needed cleaning. She didn't care much for the joy and happiness she kicked through on her way here. Truthfully, she'd tried her best to ignore it and pretend it wasn't there. Girly Love Joy ought to clean it up, really, but that would mean having her on her level again.

It was only then that she noticed the girl/woman... so not a woman, had tears in her eyes. Oh Merlin. "Look what you did, you made her cry," Emily said a little exasperated. She didn't do tears very well. Locking the girl up seemed a better option now than it had already seemed before.

"Don't make things worse for yourself," she ate fear and despair for breakfast when it was available... and this was tempting. "Let's get this over with, we don't have time to waste."

Emily took the lead, pushing herself off from Gavin's desk and walking a straight line to the office door, holding it ajar for the others to pass through.

A cat shaped memo flew through the air and landed on the desk of Mr Gavin Isaacs, Senior Undersecretary. It was addressed to him.

Gavin had only just stepped back into his office when he saw a memo trailing in behind him. Not time for sitting around as he'd been experiencing lately. No doubt with the elections coming up he would find little in the way of rest so with little more than a sigh he took a seat and browsed the memo.

Ah yes, Ms. Stephens, how very prompt.

The Senior Underscretary glanced over at the wall before sending a reply memo giving notice of his vacancy in the next hour. She could come then. With a flick of his wand, the memo sailed from his office and to the desk of the Event Coordinator.

An hour had gone by since Tabitha had received the return memo so she was now at the door of Mr Isaacs. She carefully knocked and waited to be let in. Tabitha had with her a notebook and quill ready to take some notes.

Gavin had always been time conscious. It was one of his saving graces in his professionalism that was sometimes a bit skewed so one hour meant one hour. As a result, he was sure to dot the last of his 'I's and cross the last of his 'T's by the time the previous hour had gone over, making him perfectly available when the knock came at his door.

The elections, yes, the talk that was on everyone's lips. Gavin waved a hand toward the seat opposite his own at his desk. "Please, have a seat." There were a few events that he was aware of already being in the making but new ideas never hurt, in fact they left room for options.

He waited patiently for her to sit as he reached for a plain parchment and his quill. "Now about these plans." Go on, he was listening.

"Well, I was thinking the candidates need to involve themselves in the community. Anyway, I was thinking of a community fundraiser. Wizard families are invited to a Fun Day with money raised going to St Mungos. Show the candidates helping others and that way nobody gets tired of the politics."

She took a breath and then continued. "For my second suggestion, I was thinking of a sort of ball/dance. The candidates and any current Ministry workers can bring dates. It would be really fancy."

Tabitha nervously awaited Gavin's reply.

At the very end he'd need to run it over with those in charge of the budget as well as the Minister himself before any go aheads could happen but for now, he was being sure he didn't miss out on any of the ideas.

"I know a few who'd be particularly interested in a fundraiser going to the Hospital we all depend on." Though he wasn't a fan of the concept and the unnecessary interaction it would force on him nor was he a fan of funding a breeding ground for mad people who tried sticking you with needles every two seconds, the idea on a basic level was the type that fueled politics. "I'll have these reviewed then let you know."

Pause. "In the mean time, have you given thought to the little event you'd like us to host for the Minister at the end of his tenure?" There was no particular rush but this would be a busy year, and she may not find herself with as much time for planning later on.

"Well, I was thinking along the lines of a formal dinner. Black tie would be the dress code. There would be speeches and a three course meal but the menu suits both those who eat meat and those who don't."

Tabitha smiled and nodded when Gavin said he'll review her suggestions. When asked about the event being hosted for the Minister at the end of his tenure, she smiled.

"Well, I was thinking along the lines of a formal dinner. Black tie would be the dress code. There would be speeches and a three course meal but the menu suits both those who eat meat and those who don't."

A black tie event huh? Admittedly, they hadn't had one of those in a while. Not that he could remember making it safe to say it would be something new for the majority of them. "Any thoughts as to where this event would be held? Will we need to have one of the rooms cleared?" Naturally the Conference Room would be the easiest to work in and out of when talking space and decoration but Ms. Stephens might have had other plans. Did she?

"On the matter of the food to be served, you'll need to speak with those down in the food court, the Supervisor preferably but if you can get word to her from one of the other workers it would be sufficient." Under the assumption the woman was capable of getting back to those who tried to contact her.

"If there's anything you find you'll be needing help with, just let me know."
