"I was thinking of holding the event outside the Ministry. I know of a couple of venues in London that allow you to hire their halls for functions. One hall seats about 350." Tabitha thought about the catering and then continued. "I can contact these venues in London and show them these set menus that I created and see what they can do." She clicked her fingers and two pieces of paper appeared on the desk. SPOILER!!: Set Menu SPOILER!!: Set Menu: Vegetarian "I don't really wish for the staff at the Food Court to be working during this black tie event. They should be guests. Let this event be a day of us Ministry workers just enjoying themselves." |
Zach knocked on the door of the Senior Undersecretary's office. One of the privileges that he have being his Junior. He is hoping to quickly meet with the big guy then see the Tabitha to discuss the events to come. He patiently wait at the door for an answer hoping that this is not a bad time. |
I'm gonna assume diff TLs...? Yes Quote:
When the papers arrived, Gavin took them and gave them a brief once over. This was her territory and he had full confidence in her organizational skills. From what he'd glimpsed the options were good enough and he gave his silent nod of approval. Oh? Wait, they were inviting those outside of Level 1?...He must have missed that. "I wasn't aware this would extend beyond our Level?" The expression he held said it all. He was confused, and perhaps even less comfortable now. More people? Merlin. Quote:
"Enter." He supposed he had the time. |

She cringed in embarrassment when she realised that she had made an error about who was coming to the event. "I didn't know that only Level One employees were attending this event. If that's the case, it should help the budget because not too many seats are needing to be reserved." |
Quote:
"Was there anything else, while you're here?" Or were they done? |
Tabitha nodded. "I will get onto contacting the venues as soon as possible, sir." She got up and with a "Thank you," proceeded to exit Mr Isaacs office. She headed in the direction of her work cubicle. |
Two coffees in hand Victoria made her way towards the office of Gavin Isaac. She had been to the office before and knew the man very well. They had been friends for almost six years now. He was one of her closer friends, but his was no personal drop by to chat times. No, if there was one thing that Vic felt she did well that was keeping her personal and work separate. Three of her closest friends had become department heads while she had been at this ministry, one her boss, but yet she kept working with them just as well and stayed friends with them. To her that was something not everyone could do. Finally getting to Gavin's door she adjusted the cups to one hand and knocked on the door. Pulling the strap on her bag up her shoulder again she took the one cup of coffee back to her empty hand. Hoping that he had a few moments to chat, she would of course find another time if he was too busy. |
He'd only just returned to his office after another meeting with the Ministry advisors--maybe only 15 minutes ago--and his desk was already swamped with more papers than he knew what to do with. Some were legislation that had been looked over with nothing concrete and others were related to the elections themselves. Believe it or not, they took a lot to get done. Gavin scowled down at a particular document he'd managed to fish from the pile. Right. This. He would...have one of his media liaisons look into this. Better them than him, Merlin knew the man had no patience for the lot down at the Daily Prophet. The scowl only deepened at the knock on the door. Had his PA forgotten to inform him of a meeting? You'd think with the way she was SO on top of things and always breathing down his neck she'd remember something like this. Circe. With a lazy flick of his wand the door slowly swung open. Whoever it was, they could come in. |
SPOILER!!: Gavin Seeing the door open slowly, she put a huge smile on her face and lifted the two coffees. "Office service" She beamed at her friend and walked in placing one on his desk in front of him. "I was hoping we could talk about a few things. I've been going around speaking to all the department heads and hoped to find out your thoughts and opinions as well." Even though they were friends she still wanted to know his thoughts and opinions as well as make sure he knew her views and ideas. "If you don't have time now I can always come back later." Though later might not get another coffee. |
In truth, Gavin caught a whiff of the coffee even before the visitor entered the room. Forgive him, it got him hoping it was Emily and the somewhat disappointed look he masked quickly was a direct result of that. Then again, she had mentioned her own meeting around this time of the morning. You think he'd have remembered. "Vic." Nothing to scowl about as it turned out and look, she'd brought coffee. "Of course not, come in." He began arranging the documents on his desk, giving them some organization (while making it less likely for coffee to spill on them because Merlin, there was no coming back from that). Gavin gestured to the seat across from his own as he listened. It wasn't til she'd said the last of it that he realized his PA hadn't in fact been slacking, there was simply no meeting set. Interesting. "I don't suppose I mind so long as you don't mind my continued work?" If the break wasn't scheduled, he could hardly afford to take it but he was all ears and such. |
SPOILER!!: Gavin She was glad he didn't mind her stopping by, she knew how incredibly busy he was. So she wouldn't keep him too long. Just long enough for social and catch up and a few business items. She had saved her closest friends for last in the department head meetings. They had known her thoughts and views for years, so there wasn't too much she had to tell them that they didn't already know about her. "How are the nieces, well I hope?" She had come to know his nieces pretty well from conversations and running into them a few times. "How old are they now?" She was horrible at ages, Merlin knew she felt like her own three shouldn't be as old as they were. "I won't keep you long and of course I don't mind if you keep working. Goodness, I know what a busy man you are." Her own work was getting piled a little higher then she liked these days. "I've been going around speaking to department heads to see what they want to see in the new minister. I think we as a ministry run very nicely for the most part, so instead of coming in changing everything or anything, if I'm elected of course, I'd rather see what they feel is needed. So I'd like to ask you the same question." He was the ministers right hand man, so she knew he knew the most about the ministry so his views and thoughts were important to her. |
Where...where had he put that...--oh! Here we go. With her having said it was no problem to continue working, the only thing left to do was get back to what would no doubt have him leaving the office a little later today. Joy. "They're as good as they'll ever be I suppose. Ashley sulked all the way to Beauxbaton I'm sure, whining to anyone who'll listen about what an incredibly horrible uncle I am for not sending her to school with her 'brother'." Nothing to be done about what the children referred to each other as and even less to be done about her schooling. Ashley was French by birth and received her letter from Beauxbaton. Given that, WHY would he send her to Hogwarts of all places? "And Avery, I think misses her sister a little too much but is enjoying the perks of being an only child." Least he wasn't the bad guy for her as well. "9...and 11, last I checked." Ages that is. Merlin they grew fast. Seemed like only yesterday he arrived at their door and had a 3 year old clinging to him. "And yours? How are they doing?" Gavin stopped scanning the paper set before him as she finished her explanation. Someone must have had a lot of time on their hands and it was always odd to be reminded of the fact that unlike himself, some put themselves in the path of others, freely accepting interaction. The thought nearly had him cringing. Visiting people; ew. "I'm afraid I'm of the same view as you. I can't think of anything on this Level that needs changing and I haven't stuck my nose far enough into the other Levels to take note of what they might need." Unhelpful but the truth. He liked thinking his Level ran efficiently enough. It wasn't the Ministry that needed changing. That wasn't for the Minister to do. |
Good as they could be? With anyone else she would have raised a brow and took this to be bad, but with Gavin she assumed it was his antisocial type of thing and that really did mean they were doing well. "Well I'm glad. " They were cute girls from what she remembered, so good that they were well. She chuckled at the older one though, "Sounds like when Bart had to go to Hogwarts, but now look at him. He can't wait to get back every term." Well she at least thought he liked to be there. "That happens, the girls go around the house asking about Bart all the time, but they at least have each other." She found it adorable when they went looking for Cossy. "Those are sweet ages." Moving from the kiddy things though, so that was usually sad for the adults to see them move into the maturer things. "Oh mine? They are doing great. Bart's headed to his fifth year now, Merlin help us I just hope he gets through OWLs and passes." She hoped he took the time to try and study. "He had made the U17 league this summer so he was pretty busy with that." Proud mommy moment getting to brag about him doing something good. "The girls turned three and our doing the preschool thing now. I can't believe how big they've gotten." How were they three already goodness, time was moving too quickly, she was getting old. She wasn't surprised he had the same view as she did. It's why they were friends really, they were different in many ways, but similar in ways as well. "Well that's very good to know and something very positive to hear. I like the thought of a minister, me or whomever, having ideas coming in but not trying to fully take control and change things making a tense or stressful workplace and knowing these things is a great place to start." She pulled out her notebook, "I've been keeping all the ideas, opinions, views, and changes from all the department heads, community, and shops in here. I figured if I do get elected I can look back on it to see where to start and what to help with. If I don't maybe the minister that does get elected would like to have it. As long as the people get heard and positives happen that's what matters in the end." As much as she did want to win, the peoples voice and success for the ministery and community was the priority. Putting her notebook back she checked her watch, "I've probably kept you long enough, I know you are very busy and with working all my usual hours at the office and doing the campaign before and after work, plus my lunch breaks I have plenty to get to as well." She knew she could admit that in front of him it certainly wouldn't surprise him she didn't think. |
That was all kinds of reassuring. Ashley was hardly anything like Vic's son but he was more looking into the principle, that being that Ashley would soon be looking forward to school. With any luck she'd make friends that weren't trying to make a Gryffindor out of her then when she got home she would stop falling headlong into every proposition the nutter kid had. Merlin. "True, they have each other. Avery has her mother I suppose. They're one and the same." And Ari had been making positive steps in her condition so things were looking hopeful. "That's amazing." That the boy hadn't been expelled and actually made it to his fifth year. Oh, but the U-17 was amazing too, naturally. "He'll need to keep a level head. OWLs this year if I'm correct." The first major milestone in one's schooling. It was kind of a big deal. The fact that she'd been all over the ministry, the 'community' and even the shops had his brows raising. What he do if he had as much time on his hands as she did--granted none of it would be spent with people but the idea stood. It would have been lovely. "Quite the proactive approach. I'm sure whoever wins the seat will benefit." Being in the Minister's Office itself, Gavin tried for an impartial stance on the matter. He found it helped him maintain a certain level of professionalism. Then just like that, she was packing up and heading out? Blink. Right then...nice talk? "Just don't overdo it, Victoria. We've talked about that." But did anyone ever listen? It didn't seem like it. Sigh. |
Different timeline (ooc: Using a fake restaurant) Tabitha had been busying making contact with various dining halls and now she had finally managed to find a venue that would be suitable. Tabitha had in her hand a folder full of information about the venue. SPOILER!!: Venue Information Tabitha gently knocked on Mr Isaacs' office. |
It wasn't actually til he heard the knock at the door that Gavin Isaacs remembered he had a scheduled meeting with one of his employees. That might have been right now...and might have been what his PA had walked in to remind him about 5 minutes ago. Yeah, it was all starting to make sense now. With a flick of his wand the door swung open. "Come in." While Ms. Stephens did so, he began making his desk look a little neater. It had become a mess these days. |

"It is, I'm so proud of him. He works really hard and has been going to camps since he was five." Not aware that the amazing might have been just him surviving this long she smiled as a proud mother. "Yes I kept reminding him of that this summer, but he wasn't listening much. Teenagers." She rolled her eyes a bit chuckling. "I think he'll do alright as long as nothing crazy happens this term that could distract him other wise." She tried to stay oblivious to the boys dislike of studying and school. She knew he was bright as long as he put his mind to things. She hadn't fully gotten up yet, but she was chuckling and shaking her head. "Now Gavin, I am raising three kids, working fully hours for Games and Sports, and taking personal time for this Campaign, if I haven't over done it yet, I won't." She had been working very early to very late hours on both her regular job and the campaign, plus the kids. Thankfully Charely was supportive and so were her parents. She knew the two jobs wasn't going to last forever so she kept at it. "Don't worry though, I still love what I'm doing so it's not that hard." She was truly loving the campaign stuff and of course she still loved her manager position. |

As she spoke, Tabitha held up the folder that had the information. |
SPOILER!!: Vic "Have you considered informing him there won't be a camp this coming summer if he doesn't get his act together enough?" Just a thought as he listened to her go on about camps and his reluctance to listen to her. It might have been a 'teenager' thing but that shouldn't have made it anymore acceptable than it already wasn't. "I'm sure he'll be fine in his OWLs." Actually he wasn't but Gavin was nothing if not polite when he needed to be. "But I do suggest you make him settle, instead of hoping he does." And on the off chance the kid got more rebellious as a result? Well tough, he'd have lost Quidditch Camp, made himself look stupid and damaged his first step toward a proper future. He'd be the only one to suffer, unless Vic was the type to let a dead beat son sleep on the cough in her basement. Funny how she said she wasn't overdoing it but right there when she added everything together it very much sounded like she was overdoing it. Seemed like his words would continue to fall on deaf ears for now, at least til this campaigning nonsense was over and done with. "All I'm saying is that you should take it a little easier but if you're sure you can handle it then you'll do it anyway." Did anyone ever really listen to him? Emily hadn't, he simply started boring holes through her schedule and inserting himself, forcing her to change course. The same couldn't be done with Vic so he hoped she knew what she was doing. Quote:
Hmmm..."I like what I'm seeing but, tell me, what's your personal take on the venue?" He expected she'd already gone to have a look for herself so it must have left some kind of impression, non? |
Quote:
After she spoke, Tabitha sat back slightly and awaited Mr Isaacs' reply. |
SPOILER!!: Gavin She eyed him a bit as he mentioned no camps, of course she had, it was her son. Everyone always wanting to tell her how to raise her child, when some didn't even have children at all. "Well of course I have. I know my son, he's a bright boy, he just gets distracted a little easier then the rest." Though his potions had helped that last term. Hopefully he would continue to take them. ' "It's a little more difficult when he is at school then at home. I can't watch his every move, so I have to trust the professors are doing their job." Which she doubt to be honest, but Cossy was there, it was the only reason he was still allowed to attend. As she finally stood from her chair she chuckled and shook her head, "You know I always wonder how I came to be so lucky to find some of the best people to be friends with here." He always had looked out for her well being since they met and it was truly sweet of him. "If I do end up winning this election at least I can truly say I'll have some working with me that won't be fake or tell me lies." Politics could get so ugly, she was well aware, but she didn't see Gavin ever changing just because she would became the Minister, so that was a nice thought for if she did win. "I will see you soon Gavin, maybe lunch sometime soon again." Giving her final wave of good bye she headed out of his office. |
