The office of the Junior Undersecretary is located just beyond the Reception Area. He is readily accessible once you have spoken to the Receptionist. His office is always open to all, but be wary because he is a very busy man.

Once you enter the doors into the well-lit room, you will see a mahogany desk situated diagonally on the left side of the room. If you look closely, you will notice carvings on its front and side panels. It is a mixture of two cultures, Scottish and Australian. On top of the desk, you will see an antique Victorian lamp on the right side of the desk and a name stand bearing “Zacharias David McMillan” in bold letters and underneath it inscribed “Junior Undersecretary”. On the left side of the table is an always-filled pile of paperwork.

Behind the desk, are bookshelves from floor to ceiling spanning the whole of the wall half filled with Medical, Law and Research Books, Scottish and Australian ornaments and photos of Zach with his family and friends.

Opposite the desk, on the other corner of the room were two comfortable looking chairs with a small coffee table in between. There is a funky looking kettle, a few cups and a jar of cookies on top of the table that is always filled with freshly baked goodies from the Undersecretary’s kitchen. There are painting from Aboriginal Australia located on the walls behind the chairs.

You will also notice two other doors in the office, one leading to the Office of the Senior Undersecretary and another one to the Conference Room. You will have to ask Zach permission before going into the Office of the Senior Undersecretary.

Ok, so first day at work. Which made him VERY nervous. But that also meant he had to introduce himself to the people he was going to work with right? This was why Daichi had planned to go to meet both the junior and senior undersecretary the first day at work, make a good impression.

Standing in front of the door holding two boxes of wizochoc in his hands because everyone loved chocolate right?, Daichi closed his eyes, took a deep calming breath, and knocked on the door.

After knocking, he opened the door and walked inside the room. "Hello, i hope i'm not disturbing you? he asked.

Zach was thinking of ways on how to easily fill up the positions in the Minister's Office, especially the Liaisons to the different departments. Last year he had the goal of filling them up, or maybe just updating the employee's list. Because the last time he asked the Department Heads, they just told him that the position was already, which very quizzical for him because from his end, there are no Liaison officers.

He then grabbed his pen and scribbled something on a piece of paper when he heard a knock. Waiting for the person to enter, he snapped his finger and the list of employees can flying towards his desk.

The door opened and there stood a figure Zach is not familiar with. And then he spoke and Zach looked up and said, "Come in, come in".

He stood up, fixing up his trousers and extended his hand to the guy, "Hello, I'm Zach McMillan. How can I help you?" he asked with a smile.

The twenty two year old was relieved that he wasn't interrupting. He now stepped fully in to the office and closed the door behind him when the man told him to come in.

Standing in front of the desk now, Daichi watched as he stood up from his chair and then at the extended hand in front of him. He shifted the two boxes of wizochoc in one hand so that he could shake it with the other and smiled, although a bit nervously. First day and all you know?

Zach McMillan was the undersecretary's name. Okay, noted. "Nice to meet you..." wait, how was he supposed to call him?! "...Sir?" Sir was always good right? couldn't get wrong with that one. Yes, good job Daichi~

"I'm Daichi Katharos and i'm a new employee here. Not just in this department but the whole Ministry" could he tell he was a bit nervous? because he could. He couldn't wait to actually start working, then the nerves would go away. "I don't need help at the moment but i just wanted to introduce myself to you and the senior undersecretary, if ...if that's okay?" oh gosh, what if that was not okay?! He wasn't making a huge mistake now right?!

He extended his hand and held one of the boxes of wizochoc towards the man. "I uh, didn't want to come in here empty handed so i ....got some of these chocolates for you and the senior undersecretary" he smiled.

Zach looked at the man standing inside his office and he can sense a tense mood in the air. He was not that scary was he? He smiled and gestured for the man to smile.

He almost burst into a big laugh when the guy called him "sir". He cannot contain his laughter so he let out a manly chuckle. "You do not have to call me Sir or Mr. McMillan, cause I am not my father." he said with a small giggle. "Just call me Zach." he added.

Zach gestured for him to have a seat. Zach just hoped the guy would chill a bit. He may look very strict but he is a fun guy....

"It's really nice to meet you Daichi." he said with a smile. "And guessing from your name I am guessing you are a Greek Japanese heritage?" he said with an inquiring look.

Ahhh a meet and greet! That is totally fine with Zach! He wanted to be a part of the team and he wanted his team to feel like they are welcome anytime. "That is very much ok." he said and then added, "Where did you go to school, if you don't mind me asking?" he said making a gesture so the guy will feel better.

"Thank you!" he said when he got handed the chocolates. This was his favourite treat when he was younger.

Not sir? Wow. Did he feel stupid now…

A faint blush covered his cheeks as he laughed as well, trying to hide his embarrassment. “Sorry, I’m used to saying that whenever I meet someone i don't know, it’s a habit” He remembered how his old Astronomy Professor kept saying to stop with the sir calling. “Zach it is” he smiled now, normally.

He sat down on the seat the moment Zach gestured towards it and sat upright, hands in his lap and playing with his fingers out of nerves. He liked meeting people, but people with a higher status them him made him nervous.

“Greek? My name is Greek?” he asked, completely dumbfounded because he had NEVER thought about that. “I guess that can be true” he had never asked his father the meaning behind their name. “But I know that my father and his parents were born in England so I’m guessing our last name stretches far back” he laughed, getting a bit more relaxed the more he talked.


“And no, my mother really liked the name Daichi when she was on vacation in Japan and I was named that way, I’m actually half Korean, half English” shocker eh?

He was so relieved when the man accepted the chocolate though. He stopped with sitting upright and leaned back against the seat. Much more comfortable. “Hogwarts, sir” ugh he did it again. “sorry, Hogwarts, I was one of the Prefects in my last two years” because saying you were a Prefect felt good okay? “Did you go there as well?” how old was this man even? He didn’t seem that much older than him.

Lawrence could not help but wonder why Gavin left his position as Senior Undersecretary. Nice job, good salary, and he even had powerrr. Maybe he could not take any more of the nonsense going on in the Ministry like idk, the St Mungo's health check from a couple of years ago? Maybe he wanted something new for a change. Or hey, maybe he didn't like the new minister... no way, everybody loved Sherman Clark, that good ol' man.

Regardless of the reason, he had a new boss. Lawrence found a need to visit her. He made his way to the Junior Undersecretary's office. Not only did he have to pass by the office in order to see the Senior one, but Zach was a nice guy. They could have a chat for juuust a second because Lawrence was a very very busy man.

He knocked on the door lazily before pushing it open and peeking inside. "Hey, Zach sir," he said, looking around. Classic office, this one was. If and when he got promoted to a department head, he would design his office this way too. There was also another employee in the office, one Lawrence recognized as the new media liason. "Hello new guy, I'll join you guys and your little chat." he said, sitting down on a chair opposite the Junior undersecretary's desk, strategically positioning himself to face the box of chocolate.
