Feeling creative? The mixology station is the perfect place for you. Large glass containers filled with fruity juices and flavorful tonics are available for use. Not to mention butterbeer, moon milk, and vampire venom. The garnishes placed to the side range from fruit wedges and whipped cream to mint leaves and celery sticks. With so many things to choose from, you really can’t go wrong.
So grab a cup and get to mixing. Then do a bit of taste testing or offer your concoction to a friend. If you’re digging the taste, you’ll be able to mix your creation with some of the Leaky’s beverage choices like Elderflower wine and Red Current Rum.
OOC: Please remember that all SS rules apply when using this thread. Enjoy!
Jamie couldn't believe that he was doing this. Running for Minister of course. He really did need a campaign manager. Maybe one would be here? He really couldn't do all of this by himself. Even he knew that. He wondered if Athena was superb at politics. Jamie understood politics but there was some darkness to the political aspect. He knew that from watching the muggles back in America. Even though he didn't know much about American life he did always try to visit and get a taste for their unique culture. He sure did get a lot. Most of his family had southern roots and most of his family were partiers. Jamie wasn't pretty sure that the partying gene had skipped him but he knew that his brother loved to party. Maybe a little more than he though too. Jamie thought about his brother. He better not ruin this for him. He had just gotten over his issues with the events that his brother had unfolded upon him almost two years ago but enough of that! This is a wonderful event! A joyous event!
Jameson looked around at the many different areas that this place had. He wondered if it was like this for the last election of the Minister. Jamie didn't know all that much about the minister but after he, himself had resigned from his position as a healer for the Specialty Area due to different views on the matter of his former department Jamie thought it would be best to put the Ministry behind him until this election had happened. Jamie wants to make a difference in peoples lives. Both here in the Ministry and of course outside the Ministry. Jamie walked along until he had seen a lovely drink area. Fruity stuff, butter beer and other things were lined up. Were these alcoholic beverages? Jamie wasn't into those types of things. They gave him the burps and then he would have to join a burping contest.

To say that he was happy to be there was probably an understatement. Stifling a yawn Jorge made his entrance with his gorgeous wife on his arm. Now that he was the Daily Prophet's Ministry's Liaison he had to be at these things. Lucky he was informed about this event by a certain article that wasn't his own. He knew he had been out of the office on some vacation time with his three week old baby, but it was time to get back into the swing of things and get work done.
Looking around he listened to the podium speakers a bit, but saw Tori in there so he knew they were in good hands. So he moved on to the next room to mingle and see what was going on. Looking at his wife he smiled, "Don't worry she's in good hands." He knew she was feeling a bit uneasy being away from Regina so soon. "I'm going to go over to this Mixology thing, want something?"
As he made his way over he notice someone already there. "Anything good?" He motioned towards the area as he got closer to see what they were serving.. or well what he needed to do himself.

One hour. Mariel told herself she could do this for one hour and she walked into the Leaky Cauldron putting on an air of confidence, her hand on her husband's arm. Though she looked as confident as she ever was, she was nervous about leaving her newborn baby even for that amount of time and even if it was with her sister. It wasn't that she didn't trust her or think that she couldn't take care of her, it was just that this was the first time that she left Regina at all. But she wanted to be her to support her best friend's bid for Ministerial candidacy and to spend a little time out with her husband, though he would be working.
Walking through the establishment, she smiled at Jorge as he looked back at her. "I know she is," she replied to his reassurance. "It's just.. the first time.. and I'm going to be thinking about it the whole time," she added with a light chuckle. Would she really be ok though? What if she cried the whole time because she knew her momma and daddy were gone? Regina was so young, most parents didn't leave their babies at that age yet, did they? She bit her lip thinking about it then looked over to the area Jorge was referring. Mixology thing..? "It'd be alright to have a glass of wine, wouldn't it?" Just one and it wouldn't affect anything, she didn't think.
As they headed over there, Mariel slowed her steps hearing a magnified voice and she turned her head in that direction. Smiling, she listened a moment, squeezing Jorge's arm. "Listen.. it's Victoria." She as really proud of her and clapped for her as she ended, then walked over to where the drinks were. So they had to make their own drinks? Mariel grimaced slightly. "Certainly we can afford a bartender.." she mentioned lightly, glancing at the bottles. Sounded like one of those things that was really a way of being cheap but slap a cute name on it to disguise it as "fun."

She was here, for better or worse. And seeing the names and experience of some of her fellow candidates, it was for the better. Honestly, who thought that they were ready to be Minister after only a few years in the Ministry and no Department Head experience? Or when they could possibly die while in office? Or when they had been out of the game for a long time?
Anyway, Roxanne took a sweeping look around and decided to head to the bar. Which was blissfully not as pretentious as things normally were at Ministry events these days. In fact, nothing here was. It was a refreshing change that she attributed to this technically not being a Ministry event.
Grabbing a glass, she quickly mixed herself a rum and Coke before looking around for someone to talk to.

If there was anywhere Becca was going to find her Campaign Manager, it was going to be somewhere around the bar. Warren had never given up his love for the odd bottle or two of firewhiskey, and when faced with this many people, Becca couldn't say she blamed him. She didn't need it to face them, but she knew he needed it to not curse each and every one of them. A quick scan of the bar with her blue eyes told her that Warren hadn't turned up yet, so she whipped up a quick drink for herself and looked around the room. She was stood next to a woman who was obviously judging people with a quick look. "They might surprise you, you know." she told her while sipping on her drink.
Why was he here again? He was retired didn't that mean he got to lounge around and do absolutely nothing all day? That was the good part about having kids NOT at home anymore. If it hadn't been Becca he would have told anyone who approached him to sod off, as it were he told her that and she still didn't listen. Typical. His plan to stay at the bar.
As he approached the bar he saw right away that plan wasn't going to work when Becca was standing RIGHT THERE. She knew him way too well. "Alright before you get on about me being late, I don't particularly care." He said grouchily as he grabbed a glass and looked for a drink. He had to make his own? Really? What kind of shoddy place was this? Sighing he poured himself a glass of...well he wasn't sure what it was but he couldn't find his normal drink. He nearly spat it back out as he took a sip at how sweet the stuff was. "Who thinks this is fun?" Mixing drinks...ugh.

"Oh stop complaining." Becca rolled her eyes at Warren. "I like your suit!" He'd made an effort! Yay! She knew he cared. A smile appeared and it definitely reached all the way to her eyes. He'd turned up without being threatened much and he looked smart! "Now repeat after me, Warren. You both look very lovely." Mhmmm. She held a glass of amber liquid out to him without a word, because she knew he'd know what it was, as a sort of reward.

Him? Stop complaining? She didn't know him at all if she thought that was going to happen. He looked down at his suit and he laughed, "Well...I was tempted not to dress up but Alexa gave me a look and I decided that probably was not the best way to go. Besides...I look good in a suit." He said with a smirk. Seriously though...he could be home and instead he was here. Really it wasn't Becca's fault though it was Alexa's she talked him into it. Probably was getting tired of him at home.
"You both look lovely?" What....why did he need to say that? He didn't care she had what he really wanted. Taking the glass he smiled and kissed her cheek. "A woman after my own heart." Pfft not really but it was fun to mess with her. He set his other weird concoction down and looked around the room. "What is the general concept of this thing? Am I supposed to talk you up or just not scare anyone away?" He could attempt to do the latter but no promises.
Gid made his way through the crowd to where he was about 110% positive he'd find Becca and Warren. He had been pretty much chasing his tail all day and finally had gotten away. There was way too much to get ready for the negotiations! He finally spotted his wife and a smile appeared as he saw her pass a glass to Warren. Hmmm, a suit? Well, it was an improvement at least.
He approached the two of them "Hello. Sorry I'm late."
Liz's Bestie ● Helvetica ● ● Jigglypuff ● Jeff Vader
"Alexa probably would have knocked your head off if you left the house in anything BUT a suit." She smirked right back at him. "And if she didn't, I would have." Mhmmmm. Warren knew better than to mess with her when it was important.
"Well done." See? That hadn't been so hard. Becca offered her cheek to Warren when he kissed it and smirked again. Oh, he was such a show off when he wanted to be. "Well, both would be good, but if neither is really an option, I'll settle for not making me look bad." That would be good. Warren really did have issues with talking to people sometimes, but she knew he would tell her straight if she was doing something wrong, and that was what she needed. She didn't have him there for his bubbly personality after all.
Her attention was caught by her lovely, late husband. "Late? Warren got here before you did. Late is an understatement." See? Warren, 1. Gid, 0. She picked up the... substance Warren had been drinking before she handed him the glass and passed that to Gid. "How was your day, dear?" Yeeeep. He was in trouble.
Hmm...she was right Alexa would have. "Surprisingly her threats I'm scared of more than yours," so HA. Probably because he'd been actually cursed by Alexa multiple times and had a scar or two to prove it.
He chose to drink instead of growl at her. Well done? He wasn't a dog. "Well that I suppose I should be able to do." But something told him that came with the catch of not sitting here drinking all day.
His eyes caught the Gideon and his lips twitched at Becca's statment. Someone was in trouble. "You know you're in trouble when I'm here before you." Now this was fun. "I think he should make posters for your campaign." Yup! What a genius idea.
He tilted his head a little at Warren "Shouldn't he have been here first anyway? As campaign manager I'd think he'd be here scoping out the competition already." Heh, yep that was his thoughts. "Oh sorry love, I don't have the luxury to be retired as Warren, and had to get the negotiations sorted that are coming up. I didn't want to mess that one up, especially if it means a little less work for the 'minister'." Oh yeah, hint, her as minister? Helping her out for the future!
"Oh come now Warren, you wanted to make sure those posters were done properly didn't you? First hand like?" he asked smirking a little.
Liz's Bestie ● Helvetica ● ● Jigglypuff ● Jeff Vader
"Just remember that I can throw a hex or two too." She gave him a look that said she meant it. Her blue eyes took in him drinking instead of snapping, and a grin appeared. He might just be on her side! She had to hide her desire to laugh at Warren prodding with a pointy stick, but Gid's response had her eyes narrowing. "As my husband, I believe you were meant to be here as soon as I was." she answered, raising her eyebrows at him.
When he started being snarky, Becca moved to hug Gid and whispered "Stop it," into his ear as a warning. She wasn't going to have them two fighting like children. "Let me have something for a change." Sitting in the house was driving her CRAZY. She'd moved back to the UK for HIM and now she was finally getting something to do rather than running around after the kids. When they started bickering about posters, Becca's hand tightened on her glass. "I think Gid would be too heavy handed with the glitter, and I think the glass stains from Warren might not go over so well." Children. Both of them. "I'll do those myself, thank you." It wasn't like she had much else to do.
Well, well, well. If this wasn't a fancy shmancy cocktail party. But it didn't rise to Louisa's expectations. This was a ministry-funded party, the least they do was set up a pool dang it.
Anyway, being boring was obviously in the job description. Look at all the stiffs walking around exchanging pleasantries and nods and handshakes. She should've brought Paulie. They'd be kicked within an hour, yes, but at least they'd have fun. Also, she'd put him and Tori in a room and watch what happened. Ugh, THAT would've been the funnest. Regretting not bringing the dork by the minute, especially since Tori was snooping around and being all boring working. Ew, ugh.
Anyway x2, now she found a nice corner here with the possibility of having some mixed fun. Hah hah hah geddit? 'cause hot guys hung around here? And it was a 'mixology' corner? Okay, whatever. Louisa threw her short hair over her shoulder and rubbed her hands gently as her eyes took in the drinks.

Athena Grinned walking into the event. Usually she didn't come to these things because she was busy with other things but she cleared her schedule today just for this event. Just for Jamie. Her Jamie. Her eyes scanned the room as she heard someone speaking over at the podium. It clearly wasn't Jamie so she wasn't very into what they was saying. "Jamie." She approached him from behind and linked her arm in his. "hi." She honestly couldn't be prouder of him that was for sure. "you're looking rather cute today." he always did really but she liked to tell him that from time to time.

Oh, look! drinks!
He was getting nervous. Like really nervous. Jamie hadn't prepared, he didn't know what he was going to say. He just had to relax but as he looked around he saw a lot of wealthy looking people that he didn't know how to socialize with them, he wasn't one of them. Then again maybe he was just used to the muggle American aspect of government. The more money the more voters and backers you get. He didn't know that much about America anything. "Hey." He was slightly on track right now. "I'm suppose to look all rich and important not cute." It was true but even he knew that it wasn't working for him.

He honestly had no plan for his campaign he just wants to make a difference and not make a fuss about money or power because those things at the end of the day didn't matter. Money creates more problems when you don't put them something good like helping people in need. Jamie did his fair share of volunteering and still does. He wants to help people that want and need the help.
Jamie shrugged at the man. "I'm not really sure. I don't normally drink. I like water and tea." He chuckled nervously.

Penelope was very pleased to see all the variety of foods as soon as she'd walked in. Now THIS was a great party. Forget the Minister candidates for a moment and LOOK all this food. She thought it couldn't get much better than that until the mixology station caught her eye.
THAT looked awesome too.
Merlin. How was she supposed to decide where to go first?
It took a few seconds to decide, but finally she started heading toward the mixing station. That looked pretty fun, so it had to be first. Though it led to having to make another decision, because what was she going to try first?
She was considering this thought and eyeing all the available options when she noticed someone else who appeared to be doing the same. And she looked...kind of familiar? Did Penelope know her? She couldn't place who or from where though, so she wasn't sure.
"D'you know what you're gonna get?" she asked. Might as well talk to the woman to see if that'd help her recognize her. And to help decide on what Penelope was gonna try first. That was also important.

Jorge smiled at his wife, “I know you will, but try to have a good time. We haven’t been out in three weeks. We needed the little break.” Not that he was hurrying to get away from his daughter, but they had tension between each other recently that needed to fade and what better way than a night out. Though he was working, which he probably should be doing more of, but his eyes weren’t leaving his wife easily. “You look gorgeous tonight.” That dress complimented her perfectly. Glancing at her again before looking to the drinks.
“Yes, a glass of wine would be fine.” He wanted her to have fun and a drink wouldn’t do any damage at least that’s what the books had said. Moving closer to the area he poured her some wine, but looked at the mixes for himself.
Stopping and listening he grinned towards his wife, “It is. She sounded like she was very prepared.” Which was good, because by the way the article in the prophet read she had some tough competition. “If you want to head that way to see her we could.” Though more people were coming in, could they be candidates that he needed to mingle with?
Eyes back to the drinks he nodded, “You would think.” He picked up a few things to mix.

Seeing a woman step up he took notice. Not really knowing exactly who faces to names, he assumed he’d small talk to everyone until he got what he needed. There should have been an official greeting or something to put names with faces. “Rum, interesting choice. Relaxing some nerves?” Honest question, usually women picked the wine or tried to make the fruiter drinks.

It was the perfect set up standing where the drink were. People would be coming there all evening. “Good Evening.” He greeted the group, wondering if he should pull his parchment out, though there was not much to write about yet. Pulling it out anyway he jotted a few things Victoria had said down. He might talk to her later.

Though the one had hugged the man he had just spoke too and if his ears weren’t messing with him did he hear rich and important. Yes it seemed like this man was a winner to stand by for information. His focus went to the man. “Water and Tea. I’m more of a wine or Whiskey person.” Firewhiskey was something he did enjoy on occasion. “Jorge Cristo De La Garza, Daily Prophet. You might know my wife, Mariel De La Garza.” He put a hand out to gesture to the beautiful woman next to him. This could be the ice breaker he needed
Angelica Hapgood Kirby felt alive to be amongst so many people again. It had been a while, though Merlin knew how much she needed that time away from civilisation. Now was time to get back into the mix. The more the merrier; the more people she got to know, the less emotional attached she would have to be with them, and that was exactly what she wanted.
The woman arrived as if she owned the place, taking in her surroundings and the people that were there. She didn't know them, but that mattered not; a polite smile was given in their general direction as she walked towards the refreshments table. Hmm, where to start?

Warren stopped just short of snorting and shook his head, "She know's I'm never on time so that argument isn't valid." He took a sip of his drink and watched Becca simply pursing his lips in amusement. Warren's eyes narrowed at the snipe about him being retired and he simply clenched his teeth. He worked hard for that retirement. Not like he'd know. Ugh. He'd let Becca deal with that.
He smiled in amusement at Becca and nodded, "Yes you can throw hexes but I don't remember them being as violent as Alexa's...during training...in the office." Yup she had to remember that. He pretended not to be interested in the conversation the two were happening but imagined Becca would come out on top of whatever that argument was about. He should have brought Alexa...sigh. "More than happy to relinquish that job to you. Not very up on the artistic skills as it is." He cleared his throat as he saw someone approach that looked rather like a reporter. Play time was over.

Pulling it out anyway he jotted a few things Victoria had said down. He might talk to her later.
Smiling Warren held out his hand toward the gentleman, "Good evening. Enjoying the event?" See look he could play nice. He stopped short of smirking at Gideon and simply sent him a glance. "Have you met Rebecca Yenorin? She's one of the candidates and over this is her husband, Gidyun." Everyone liked happy couples. They better at least pretend to be.

"I promise you I tried to be." he assured her, but felt bad he hadn't been. Yep she was mad, and he knew that full well. He just tried to keep a neutral face and not let it show he was aware. He stared at her a little when she leaned close and whispered. "Bec, I'm behind you all the way in this. I think you'd be an amazing minister. You have the experience and the knowledge to be fantastic as the minister." Heck and the ability to protect herself if she ever needed to too! Body guard? PFFT she'd be her own body guard and protect whomever was there to protect her instead! He set his jaw as he looked back in the direction of Warren. He supposed he should play nice. After all the guy was getting up in age.
He flashed the reporter a smile when he noticed him turn towards the three of them and Warren step forward.
She didn’t know how it happened but it had. She had managed to slip away from her dad and brother and had some breathing room. Now, she needed to get past her inhibitions and look! It was that healer who had pretended to be dead. And there was a girl with him in a pretty blue dress.
“Hey Jamie” Kyleigh grinned at her healer friend and candidate right? “Good luck on this campaign of yours” she grinned at her friend before turning to look at the drinks. “Excuse me…Miss? Can I say I adore your dress?” She smiled to Athena before again looking at the drinks. Red Current Rum sounded like a good idea. She poured some of the red currant rum into a glass added some soda water and bit of sugar and stirred it together. Taking a sip she just grinned. “Perfect” she’d made herself a red currant punch thing right? Well that was what she was calling it.
“Stupid dress” she grumbled and took another sip of her drink.

Well, she hadn't really been judging people as much as rattling off facts in her head. But it had appeared to come off that way, though, considering what this woman was saying. The woman who, now that she was paying attention, looked a lot like Hogwarts' Headmistress. Which meant that this was Becca Yenorin. Yes, she'd done a bit of research on her fellow candidates. Now that she had the means and knew people, anyway. Always useful to know thy enemy, or competition in this case.
"People don't typically surprise me anymore, though." Nope, she'd made a point of that after her experiences here. "Roxanne Carter, " she introduced, holding a hand out for a shake.

Nerves, really? "Nope, just prefer this to the fruiter stuff." Unless, you know, it was an actual party. But this wasn't. And she needed to keep a clear head going into this, least she embarrass herself in front of the press, who was sure to be here, and the voters who were supposed to be getting to know her better.

"I know. You always try to be." At least he'd tried? Meh. Gid's whisper caused her irritation to turn to calm, relaxed happiness. He really did? She hoped so. If he didn't believe in her, how was anyone else meant to? Warren's words distracted her from her thoughts and an expression that clearly said she agreed crossed her face. That was true, Alexa could probably reduce Warren to dust if he annoyed her too much. Becca actually liked him too much to do that to him. "I noticed that," A small smirk played over her lips when Warren told her that he wasn't artistic.
"You must live such a boring life." Becca observed. "People always have a reason for doing things, and sometimes it's that reason that give them the strength to push harder than ever." If Roxanne Carter wasn't being surprised, it meant she had done all of her research too, and had made her mind up about the people in front of them. Becca had done research, but her experience in life had told her to meet a person and look into their eyes before making her mind up about them. "Becca Yenorin, not that you needed the introduction to know. Nice to meet you." She shook the woman's hand. Mhmm, she wanted the woman to know that she knew aaaaall about the research. The red-head was still hoping they could bond over something, maybe their time as department heads? It was nice to have a bond with someone. It created conversation and helped personal relationships flourish.
The man asking about people's drink choices had not escaped her attention at all, even if he wasn't ACTUALLY asking her. Her instant assessment of the man was that he was a journalist, so she flashed Warren and Gid a small smile that she knew they would know meant to stop arguing. Becca gave the man a polite bow of the head as an acknowledgement while trying to suppress a shudder from Warren using her full name. What in the world had she done to deserve that? Following on from Warren's introduction, she greeted the man properly "Good evening, I hope you're getting all of the information you need. You seem to have set up in the right place for all of the relaxed conversation," The candidates in other areas of the room did look somewhat stiff. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name?" She liked to put names to faces with journalists.
Her eyes travelled to Gid when Warren mentioned him, and a small smile appeared. He might have been late, and he might have argued with Warren, but it didn't mean she loved him any less. His cheeky 'reporter smile' appeared and she rolled her eyes playfully. He was at ease now, that was for sure.
