Any redness where Ember was concerned went unnoticed as Harmony encouraged cooperation between departments and as Bryce didn't seem terribly bothered by her employee's presence here, Harmony saw no reason to be upset. She also nodded along as the newest member to her team explained that animals often fled when they sense danger in the form of a great storm or something else. Animals were wonderful in that they were a great precursor to such events. Be mindful of the animals and you might just get the warning you're looking for.
As for that Max character calling her silly, Harmony simply raised her eyebrows. She was well aware of the location of such species but she was also aware that beings similar had been spotted near Hogwarts before and had been documented. It seemed the man even had said documentation with him so the Department Head said nothing on the matter, merely listening.
"I agree that we should be consulting with the MLE and Transportation offices. Could it be that whoever made the threat about Quidditch had this planned all along? Perhaps whatever is causing the cold had help getting to Hogwarts." Harmony's tone was ominous but her expression was calm. She felt it best to keep a clear head in these type of situations. "As for something being taken away from the creatures, perhaps we need to know more about what they value in order to figure out what that might be." If, in fact, they were to blame.
Jasmine was hearing everyone's opinion on the problem. They all seemed clear to her. She never heard of these Cold Ones before. She was listening intently, she wasn't much for popping into conversations. She hoped her head of department understood. She was more of the observer and listener. She was hearing what Harmony was saying. She agreed with her. They needed to know what they value or what they want in order to know what they might be. Apparently they can't go into Hogwarts because it is frozen. It was strange and peculiar. She wondered what it could be. It seemed like her head of department was handling the task very well.
She wanted to pipe in though, "Jasmine Lenkim." Incase people needed to be reminded. "I agree with Max over here. We need to get the Headmistress of Hogwarts involved in this situation. But as to what is causing this intense coldness....do you think someone put a charm over the castle? Maybe put a snow cloud over the castle to continue snowing and having intense cold." I mean it was just a suggestion Jazz had. "I mean if the owls are fleeing from the castle, I think we are dealing with a creature that is intense. I know back then the spiders fled because of a basilisk..." She said just thinking out loud.
Ember nodded at Bryce. "Owls have fled the castle AND odd behavior from other creatures before all of this happened, don't forget. Two unicorns--UNICORNS--were spotted in Hogsmeade a few months ago. Unicorns don't just leave their quiet habitats for the company of humans--a mother unicorn is much too protective--" she said and sighed. Trying to make connections with what seemed like little to NO information was driving her nuts. She needed to do some yoga with Harmony, it seemed, to focus and clear her head!
Ember took the copied article from Max and eyed it...Quibbler, eh? She wouldn't refute it outright, no, but as she read through...she didn't know if this was pish posh or not. SHe cleared her throat. "I didn't even know these creatures were real, to be frank, but if they are--" because hey, Ember thought being open-minded was the best way to beeee--"We probably need to act fast. And another question, how could they have changed the weather around Hogwarts, or are you suggesting that something else changed the weather and is now attracting these...things?" she asked, her lavender eyes on Max, now. It was an interesting article, and she wished it would have been longer, or more pictures had been taken of the so-called spottings. BUt they had to make do..
Taken from the creatures...oh...from those zombie-like beings? And that's why they were there? Ugh, now she felt like when she went home she would just be doing all sorts of research on stygges. Skygges. Whatever. She nodded at Max's bit about head-flooing. "Someone who knows what they're talking about, at that--" she added, because ding dong, Ember herself knew sometimes people in the upper echelons were as knowledgable as they claimed to be. Some serious co-horting with have to be done to make sure all information was correct and calculated and WHAT NOT.
She glanced at this woman who just spoke up, Jasmine. "yes, the spiders...I agree, the owls fleeing is probably important." Very important. The threat about the Quidditch thing..well hmm...it seemed likely that all of this had SOMETHING to do with that, in Ember's humble opinion. "Can a charm that powerful be done? " she asked the room. She wasn't sure, charms were her strong point. "It's obvious it's something magic, of course--but the nature of the source point is unknown thus far. " The meetings seemed to be going nowhere and Ember was CONFUSED. She wanted to know what the heck was going on and help those poor dears at Hogwarts.

Winking wasn't exactly professional behaviour, Bryce reminded himself as he nodded in return to Ronnie. Not that he could wink but it was the thought that counted.
Thank Merlin that there were people here who knew a lot about animals. Two unicorns being spotted in Hogsmeade was........ interesting, for lack of a better word. Especially since, as Ember mentioned, they don't usually leave their habitats or mothers. "It sounds like they did know and were aware beforehand. Maybe they were scared off in the first place?" Something to do with the weird creatures.
Migration month? Was Max really asking Bryce this? Because the thirty year old knew nothing about creatures; hence why he was glad that Miss Harmony and Ember were here. "Unless they're looking for fresh victims." It was certainly plausible; how many people can say that they've been to the south? "Motives........ I like it," he said, nodding his head slowly, "Miss Harmony's right, we need more info on what they value. And that raises the question whether that something's at Hogwarts, no?" Motived. He loved this. This was linked to deep psychology and who could say that that wasn't interesting? "I thiiiiink, maybe that has something to do with the charms around the school? What do you think, Miss Alexandria? Do charms and enchantments keep magical weather temperatures in one area?" Climate Control, after all.
The appearance of another article distracted Bryce somewhat and he............ raised an eyebrow at the source. Not the most reliable source was right; the Quibbler was known for publishing nonsense. A similar type to the Cold Ones? "Are they related?" he asked, looking up and over at the people who knew a lot about creatures briefly. The Skygge. Why had he never heard of these funny named creatures before? As for the case of the Dementors and Max's nephew, Bryce heaved a sigh of relief before saying, "I think we can rule out Dementors, then." And a huge snow cloud? Hazel eyes lingered on Jasmine and then Ember. "Possibly. But that would be an incredibly large charm to produce such a large snow storm. Very advanced magic, I'd imagine." It sounded impossible to him but not something to be ruled out.
The thing about being in Costa Rica was that Bryce had missed all things to do with the threat to Quidditch. He looked up and between Max and Harmony, his eyebrows furrowed. "So are we saying that the threat to Quidditch and the snowstorm could be linked? They're trying to show just how unfit things are at Hogwarts by using freak weather conditions that hardly anyone has any clue about?" Because let's face it: they had two articles to go off of, one of which included weird, unknown creatures. "We can hardly disturb the Minister himself but maybe we could get a higher up power in on this. Or someone who knows a lot about this, like Ember said." Suggestions? Who was the perfect candidate?

He had set this crazy muggle alarm clock this morning he knew of it.. but it must have not worked at all. He knew that there was a meeting and he felt really bad for coming late but he opened the shared conference room door to see them all in conversation.. Moving closer to the walls to not bring the attention to him he quickly sat down and looked over at Harmony.. "I'm sorry" he whispered over to her as he saw people he's seen around on level four.
He pulled out his quill and started to make notes of what he's heard so far..

Well doh! Of course it was a plausible suggestion about the creatures causing the cold spell at Hogwarts. SHE suggested it. Alexandria just listened to the discussions going around about the coldness and the brainstorming about ideas, noting the entrance from the Creatures Head with a curt nod. If it wasn't for her own head addressing her by name, she probably would have stayed quiet for the remainder of the meeting as she hadn't really anything more to add. She'd said her piece.
Looking up though at Bryce when he addressed her - which she had to double-take since he used her full name - she pursed her lips thoughtfully, thinking.
"The charms around Hogwarts are extraordinary, so yes I definitely think those enchantments play a strong role in keeping Hogwarts isolated with the coldness." she paused, reflecting on other stuff that had been said. "As far as communicating with Hogwarts, I do believe the floo might be our only hope. Portkey would be too risky, even if its hooked up to direct one to the quidditch pitch... I'm not even sure if the floo network would suffice."But goodness, if they couldn't get home! What then?! Alex didn't even want to begin to think of it.

Max closed his eyes as he massaged the bridge of his nose with is thumb and index finger. Back when he was in Hogwarts, the weird events in that school wasn’t as extreme as the one today. It was one issue after another. Sighing, he nodded as he heard voices agreeing to his suggestion. Hogwarts need to know what is going on OUTSIDE of its boundaries. Max allowed the voices around the room swim inside his head, but looked up when he thought a question was being asked. Oh it was for him? “I’m not sure, but those creatures need the cold to survive. They could have brought the extreme cold weather with them.” He answered with a tired tone. She’s from the Creatures Department, yeah? She ought to know these things.
Max continued to look on as more people spoke up, and gave their two knuts. Well. It’s all confusing all right, but at least they have something. And was the secretary taking down the minutes of the meeting? Because she would need to organize it and send it to…the Minister’s Office, yes? As for the Quidditch Threat and the Snow Cloud being linked; “There is a possibility. What else do we know about the threat?” Anyone? They needed clues. As for the candidate to bring forth the bad news, Max sat back and watched the group. He was clueless too. Maybe he ought to get out of his cocoon from time to time and mingle, no?

Ember nodded. "Yes. I think they WERE forewarned." Uh huh. She agreed with...Bryce? for sure. "And whatever it is, I'm pretty sure the owls were scared. Because since when have the owls left the school?" she asked, her eyes wide. She couldn't remember ever even READING about that happening...not that it would be important information to list sometimes, but...hmm. She just had never heard of it happening.
More nods from the young woman. They were connected. She had decided, the threat and the snow storm were all connected, yep. Then, Jose walked in, and Ember BEAAAMED and waved obnoxiously and was so HAPPY TO SEE HIM HI HI JOSE. She chuckled into her hand and was glad she wasn't the only creatures person here because WHOOH NO TROUBLE YAY. Heheheh. And he was taking notes?! Brilliant, dude! He was awesome! Ember hadn't thought of that, but she shot him a thumbs up, and would have clapped had she not deemed that obnoxious.
She then looked at the other intruder outsider and just sighed. "I..I don't remember that article in the Prophet well at all..about the threat..I wonder if the MLE might know more about the threat?" she asked, to the group as a whole? Should they get the MLE involved? It might be best...just to be...safe and all..

Willy was heeeere! And excited to work with all the wild totally tame, but crazy and fun animals they had up for adoption today. Hopefully some employees would come in and at least check them out, right?
He, for one, was going to give the baby kneazles a good workout first. Sitting crosslegged in one of their makeshift, cardboard-cordoned off playareas, he had some purple yarn out and was dragging it around for the little kneazle litter to chase. Hehe. One of the them was sleeeeepy, and was yawning as it tripped over its paws. Two others were busy nipping at each other instead of at the yarn, and the fourth one was curled up just by his feet, watching the others and waiting to pounce. William was definitely beaming as he tugged the yarn around anyway.

Carol entered the room and was immediately drawn towards the kneazles. She spotted Williamson and walked over to him. Carol had not had experience with a magical creature so she wanted to ask him before considering adoption.

William could tell the conference room door had opened because all the animals in the room started getting LOUDER as soon as the woman entered.
"Hello!" he called out cheerfully, looking up from his playing with the kneazle babies. "Here to adopt a pet? Do you like kneazles?!!" He held up one of the little kittens, the one sleeping by his foot, in case she was one of those non-knowledgeable-about-animals wizards.

Carol nodded. "Those kneazles look rather cute. My knowledge of kneazles is very basic. What are the basic needs of looking after a kneazle? Is it similar to looking after a cat?"

Ah, great question. And one right up his alley. William didn't wait before handing this kneazle baby over to the woman. She needed to pet the kitten to see if she could handle one when it grew up, okay?
"Yes, they're very similar. Kneazles are typically a little bit brighter than your average housecat though, and more independent too. They also have a magical, wizard-bred ability to detect shifty people." Was she still interested in one? "So, most wizards consider their kneazle a good judge of character, though at the same time, these kneazles can get quite aggressive and protective of their owners. For that reason, you DO need a special license to own one, but we can easily hook you up with that today."

Carol carefully held the baby kneazle in her arms, making sure that it was properly supported underneath. She gave the creature a little scratch behind the ears. She listened carefully to what Williamson had to say.
"I'd love to adopt this one. Just take me to the necessary paperwork," Carol said as the kneazle snuggled in her arms.

"I brought us some tea, Will-Oh!" Oh my! Someone had already arrived to adopt a creature? Harmony Skylark's face lit right up because this was amazing news! Setting the two teas on the table, she hurried over to the woman and simply melted at how adorable the kneazle baby was.
"Awww, how precious!" Big eyes and a big smile were then directed to the woman snuggling the kneazle because helloooo! "Great pets, kneazles are! I've got one myself." And she had absolutely no complaints.
Realizing she was probably interrupting, the red head took a seat at the table and took a sip of her tea. Hopefully she'd have the pleasure of matching someone up with a pet real soon!
When the notice came up on the announcement board on level 3 Sophie had immediatly gotten interested and excited. She had been meaning to a get herself a pet to share her lonely flat with for years but work had always gotten in the way. Now the pet adoption conveniently had come to the ministry so it couldn't hurt to go down and look at the creatures available.
Taking the lift down a level, her brown hair tied back with a blue ribbon, Sophie soon stepped out on level 4 and headed into the shared conference room. Letting her eyes wander over the creatures she wondered silenly which one of them, if anyone she'd go home with.

Pet adoption here came Jory. Granted adoption was not on his mind since he already had an owl, miniature puffskein and a crup. Ronnie would most likely eat his head off if he got another animal. But that didn't stop him from wanting to see what were up for adoption today.
At the Conference room, he surveyed all of them. Crups, keazles, jarveys, nifflers and so on. Jory's attention was particularly on the mutants. Interesting. Should get get one of those?
He shook his head at the thought. No. No more animals for him.

He shook his head at the thought. No. No more animals for him.
And just as she was wishing she could partake in the joy that was matching up someone with their ideal creature, two more people showed up to browse their selection of pets. How lovely!
The red head wasted no time rising from her seat and meandering over to them, a serene smile in place. "Welcome, welcome, thank you both for coming!" Could they feel all the good vibes radiating off of her because she was in a wonderful mood. "Interested in adopting today?" Might have seemed like a silly question but some people were more into window shopping than actually taking things home.
Ember, accompanied by Paolo, who was chirping away on her shoulder happily, walked slow enough so that her parents following behind her could keep up. Things were so EXCITING today, and after telling her parents about the adoption, they had finally caved, giving into Ember’s request that they find a pet for the house. George and Delilah Brighten might live on a farm, but it was mostly agriculture, and not animals, that thrived there. Ember was HOPING her mother would take one of the MUTANTS.
“Okay so THIS is Level Four--my level--” she told them cheerfully. Paolo squawked excitedly, just to match his owner’s tone, as he hopped on one foot, but remained firmly planted on Ember’s shoulder.
They had had a talk this morning. He could NOT fly around the level freely like he did at home. And he hopefully UNDERSTOOD this…..RIGHT PAOLO?
“And look--there’s Harmony--my BO-”
And before Ember could finish, Danda, arms hooked with her husband’s, chimed in--”Oh. The boss we hear so MUCH about--” she said, eyeing the woman closely...and so far, Danda was feeling such positivity in the area. It was no wonder Ember felt so at HOME here. And, looking at Harmony, Danda could also tell this boss was juuuuust the woman to handle her daughter on a daily basis.
Hmph.
“Very nice, Ember--” she kissed her daughter’s cheek, careful not to touch Paolo. She wasn’t that fond of the bird. Protective little bugger, he was. “Is this where you leave us?” she asked softly, serenely. George Brighten usually didn’t talk much. He was just smiley and quiet. He was probably mulling a LOT of thoughts around in his head, though, that Danda would hear later. For now, though, he was content to smile at everyone happily and wave. He was such a precious soul.
Ember nodded. “Yes! I have to goooo and do things--but--but--” and they stopped in front of Harmony. Ember smiled at her boss--”Harmony--this is mum and dad--” she introduced. “Mum, dad, this is Harmony.” Whee, awkward boss meeting the parent thing happening. Ember blushed a little...and the feeling of...well, “please don’t embarrass me, parents” was definitely happening right now.
She kissed her dad’s cheek and patted Danda’s head before rushing off.

Matthew Whittebrook didn't visit the Ministry often but when he heard (from a friend of a friend) that they were holding a pet adoption, he thought he might take his nine year old son, Henry, down there. Henry's turtle had died a little while ago and the boy had been bugging him ever since to get another pet. But something furry this time. Wouldn't hurt to at least see what they had and spend the day with his kid at the same time.
Once he was pointed in the right direction to go, he kept close to Henry as they walked through the first floor. Apparently nine was too old to hold your father's hand.. "So what kind of pet do you think you want?" he glanced down at his son as they headed into the conference room. Looked like quite a few animals.. and quite a few people. Who was in charge?
Wow, this Ministry place was so cool! Henry's eyes took in everything as they walked through, from the wand weigher to the lifts and all the people bustling by until they got to the floor where they were supposed to be. And that was to get a new pet! Henry still wasn't sure what he wanted. Dad thought maybe a crup wasn't a good idea for a reason he currently couldn't remember but there might be lots of other choices too.
He looked up at his father as they walked into the room that had all the creatures for sale. "Umm... I don't know." He shrugged a little but he was still really excited, he just didn't know what to choose yet. Could they look at them now? He glanced up at his dad before looking back at the room, tempted to walk away towards the creatures himself.

Sophie didn't know where to go looking first. Everywhere there were creatures to take a second look at. If her half-brother had been with her he would have advised her to adopt a kneazle since it was an easy and safe option and very similar to muggle cats. Maybe that was why Sophie wasn't keen at looking at those first? A small voice in her head wanted her to give all the available pets a fair chance before she chose.
Her thoughts were interrupted however as she was greeted by a red headed woman with a welcoming smile. Nodding Sophie replied enthusiastically. "Yes, I want to adopt a pet. I have no idea what kind though. I've only ever owned muggle pets." She confided without hesitation.
Turning to the man at her side Sophie beamed "Oh, hi Jory!" It was good to have a friend by her side for this pet adoption.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jory was going to resist temptation to adopt another pet. Yes, he was. The tough Auror could do this. But before he knew it, he was being addressed by someone (Harmony).
"Hello,'' Jory replied with a smile. "You're welcome. I couldn't resist coming here when I found out about the adoption.'' He seemed to have a great weakness for these kinds of things. "Uh, actually, yes, I mean no.'' Goodness, Mr Stonewall. Make up your mind already. "I think I may have too many pets already.''
Hearing the familiar voice close by, Jory turned. "Hi, Sophie.'' He had a suggestion for her too. "A crup is always great to have around.'' He was speaking from experience.

Oh look, there was Ember! And how nice that she brought guests with her. Harmony was pleased! The more people that showed up here today, the more adorable creatures were getting good homes. It was a win-win. A win-win and apparently Ember was leaving her parents in the very capable hands of her boss which Harmony couldn't help but smile about. She'd simply love to help them out with getting a new pet!
Holding out a hand to Ember's mum, the red head smiled serenely. "It's a pleasure to meet you both! Are you looking to adopt today?"

Aww, look at that adorable child! Harmony couldn't help but beam at him. Little creature lover here to adopt a pet. At least that's what she was assuming as she watched the interaction between him and an older man, presumably his father.
"Hello! Welcome to our adoption booth. Please feel free to take a look around at our selection and Willam (BanaBatGirl) and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have!" The red head glanced over at her employee and then back at the two with a big smile. This was an exciting day for her! Seeing animals go to good homes was ever so important. Brought good vibes and positive feelings to all involved!
SPOILER!!: Sophie and Jory

Maybe that was why Sophie wasn't keen at looking at those first? A small voice in her head wanted her to give all the available pets a fair chance before she chose.
Her thoughts were interrupted however as she was greeted by a red headed woman with a welcoming smile. Nodding Sophie replied enthusiastically. "Yes, I want to adopt a pet. I have no idea what kind though. I've only ever owned muggle pets." She confided without hesitation.
Turning to the man at her side Sophie beamed "Oh, hi Jory!" It was good to have a friend by her side for this pet adoption.

These two seemed to know each other, yes? That was nice! Perhaps they could work together to find their perfect creature matches. Well, with Harmon's help, of course! Heh. The red head let out a little giggle at the man's comment about having too many pets. "I know exactly what you mean!" It was just so hard saying no to those adorable faces and Harmony would no doubt be taking something home at the end of the day. It was a given.
"Crups do make wonderful pets, yes. Though they're not ideal if you live in a muggle neighborhood. I've always found jarveys to be interesting! They use such colorful language." Bit mean at times but always amusing!
Danda nodded, smiiiiiling away and feeling at peace in the environment. "Yes! Yes. Ember convinced us to finally bring a pet into our home--we live out in the middle of nowhere, really-" she glanced at her husband, who just nodded in his usual smiley fashion.
"And...well...she told us to look into adopting one of the mutants?" she let her voice inflect at he end, because....she didn't exactly KNOW what adopting one of the mutants would ENTAIL. "But--they're completely safe, right?" SHe TRUSTED Ember's opinion, of course, but sometimes.....well, she had grown used to the little girl who'd try to bring home stray, UNHAPPY cats and squirrels and all sorts of critters back in the day. Ember's idea of dangerous was just a bit different than Danda's.
She glanced over Harmony's shoulder at the animals, though...they all seemed perfectly fine and happy and stuff.

Varek was not one to move around the ministry, no anytime he ever had come in it was just straight to level seven and then leave, but when he was in the Gobstone offices today he had heard about an adoption even. This sparked his interest, because he had gotten to a point of loneliness that he decided a pet might be something he needed.
Heading to level four he went into the conference room and looked around. Really he didn't even know what he wanted to get. Did they have a quiz for the best match or something?
Maybe this was a bad idea....
He looked around seeing all the people and thought it would be best to just walk slowly backwards out of the room, but a few of the creatures caught his eye. He decided that he'd try and find someone to help him. Anyone really...
