COFFEE? Cale could ALWAYS use some coffee. "Thanks Reese!" he said with a smile as he took a coffee out of the tray. Now that the work area was starting to fill up a bit more, Cale was in better spirits. Finally, people were DOING something around here and he had people to talk to! It was so boring sitting in his office doing NOTHING. He was in such a good mood that he wasn't even going to comment on Reese's tiara OR her nameplate. Normally he'd chuckle and roll his eyes, telling her to knock it off, but as long as she got to work, who was he to judge right? "Everyone, Reese brought coffee!" he called out, even though he only saw TWO people there. |
What a strange day. All those portkeys that need to be handled and deactivated? It seems that none of them are working anymore. In fact, none of the portkeys around the office work. Not even a little bit. Not even at all. |
"Oh. Yeah. Thanks." Jayden said tossing up the can and catching it again in his hand. He then looked over his shoulder. Oh hey. New boss. Yup. He was doing excellent work. Thanks for noticing. "Why were these laying about anyway?" Maybe someone's desk fell over. That happened to him once. And there was that one incident where some other department's ball or something bounced around and knocked everything over. Something like that could have happened. And coffee. Brilliant. "Thanks." he said taking one of the cups. Hm. She did not look familiar. But he was a fan of shiny. And unfamiliar girl had a shiny tiara. |

He waved his wand and went to check that the spell had worked, waving it again to see if the enchantment had worked, but...nothing. No indication that it had worked. He blinked. Slowly, he reached out, prepared to jet off to Berlin if it HAD worked...but his skin made contact with the tin can and nothing. Not a thing. "Weird. Someone try and charm this portkey. I don't think it's working anymore," he said. What did you DO Jayden?? |

"Wrong places too? We've had a lot of luck with that lately." Did he know about the recent floo issues? If not, well, Jayden just spilled that bit of information. Jayden blinked several times. What? He just disabled it. That was all. He took off his glove and took the portkey. "That's really weird." He took out his wand and attempted to activate it again. ... nothing. He blinked a few times before setting the can on the table and watching it. "Haven't seen a portkey do that before..." |

"Someone else try and activate this..." he muttered to the general area. They all knew how to do that, right? |
Vincent walked in, he was running late, wonderful way to spend making an impression. He came in quickly and sat down at his desk. He smiled at his desk with the newly placed picture of him and his fiance. He turned back pausing for a moment to remember what he had left off with things the day before... Looking over his few papers he nodded remembering. He'd left off trying to come up with ideas for the flying carpet. He had always wanted to fly on a magic carpet when he was younger. He shook his head and focused again. Come on Vincent think... He knew he was probably the youngest of the department and he didn't want anyone to think just because of his age he was a lesser work companion. He wanted to prove he deserved to work there and hopefully be seen as one of the hardest workers... but for now he couldn't come up with any ideas... He wasn't on a very good start of making that great first impression he'd been hoping for. |
Reese nodded towards Cale and the young man (Jayden) when they thanked her for the coffee she had brought the gang in Level Six. She went to put her purse into her lower desk drawer and locked it before looking over at the two men as they tried figuring out why the port key had stopped working -- and yes, that did make the woman nervous. Portkeys in general made her nervous, especially when she was not planning on traveling at this very moment; she did not want to get transported somewhere. … unless it was Disneyland. She was absolutely okay being transported to the place where dreams come true. "Here, let me look at it," she stated as she walked over to the can after taking her wand out. She picked it up off the desk and tried activating it again. And still nothing. "These are faulty portkeys." That was the only explanation. Was this a prank? Her attention was caught by this young boy (Vincent) that walked into the work area…. and awwwww! look how young he was! Such a cutie patootie! "Do you think you can activate this?" She addressed that question to the boy. |
Hmm, that might have made sense...a faulty portkey? It was worth a shot. Cale walked over to the filing cabinet and looked around for some of the extra portkeys the office had. He picked up an old mocassin, waved his wand, and cautiously touched it to make sure it had worked. If it did, it would just transfer him to the Atrium... But nothing either. "None of them are working. I KNOW I'm doing the spell right," he added. He was Department Head. He KNEW these things. |
Vincent looked up and over to the older woman and the portkey in front of him, "Um..." He gave a weak smile. He was having trouble with his own little part, and portkeys weren't his strong suit. "I... I'm honestly not sure." And now he really was going to just seem stupid probably. He glanced back at his own work and then back again. "I mean... I'm in the brooms part of this and portkeys just..." He paused, "I've just never cared for them." He didn't even know the spell that made a simple item a portkey exactly... Then again, he barely knew anything about flying and he was there too. He looked to her and then to his head and sighed, not sure what to say aside from that. Once again he was kind of embarrassed by his lack of knowledge, but he was new and he'd learn... Hopefully. |

Cale looked at the new kid sympathetically. He didn't expect him to know a whole bunch of stuff right off the bat...he would in time though. He looked back at the portkey that wasn't working and sighed. "This is really weird. I wonder if any of the ones we were sent out to deactivate are working, or if those just magically shut off too," he told the employees. So yes, they should go check that out. |
...... merlin, Reese did not feel well. Not at all. And to think, she was feeling fine and dandy just two seconds ago before she had to run off to the washroom. She entered the work area once more, drinking on a glass of ginger ale she had gotten, as she headed towards her desk. Surely, she was not coming down with the stomach flu; however, that was generally unlikely since she tended to always get a low-grade fever if she came down with that illness...... Maybe it was something she ate. |

Taking it easy these last few work days, Cale was just patrolling the work areas to make sure people were on task. When he passed Reese, however, he noticed she was definitely not looking like herself, even without the shoes that he had supposedly ruined in the flooded break room. "Whoa Reese - not trying to be rude but you look terrible," he said. "You feel alright?" he asked. |

She was quick to look over at her friend when he entered the work area -- not only did he enter the work area but he just told her she looked TERRIBLE. "I don't think you are suppose to tell a woman that," she pointed out. "But no, I don't feel good. I got sick as soon as I left the break room." She had been quick to leave to deal with her shoes. "I was sick this morning before I came to work, but it went away. I assume that I ate something during lunch that upset it again." Meh. An upset stomach was the worst. |
Quote:
"That's it? Just your stomach? Perhaps that's it then," he said with a shrug. He didn't know how the human body really worked but if it was just her stomach, food probably had something to do with it. |
