SPOILER!!: Vic If she didn't have the ability to mask her emotions, she'd have laughed too hard at Vic's response, but as it was she simply smiled and nodded. It really was funny. Oh so funny... truly hilarious indeed. "You said it, not me," she mused, one hand up in mock defense while the other clung to her plate for dear life. She had a sufficient amount of food on it now, almost a bit of everything and so she was happy enough to take up a fork and start eating it. Right here. Right now. Why Vic was so delighted to hear about that, she didn't know. It wasn't a good thing. It was, and it wasn't, but go figure she'd somehow developed a desire to be close to the boy, and not be separated from him for such a length of time. Goodness knew what trouble he was getting himself into. And what of his studies? He'd best be applying himself, or there will be words exchanged come Christmas. "I have, he writes frequently... seems to be settling in well enough, has friends, likes most of his classes - though he has reservations regarding a couple of his professors." Nothing particularly outrageous, seemed to be the usual for Hogwarts. "Apparently he's been practicing blowing things up, says he's willing to offer his services the next time we're locked out." To which she still hasn't replied. There was no need to give him hope where these things were concerned. He would be doing no such thing. Of course, when Vic asked about a personal question, she had figured he was simply seeking an opinion or second opinion about something, and she figured that something would have to do with the man himself. How wrong she was. She took the opportunity to assess why he was asking such things as she chewed a bite from her plate... but in the end, could think of little reason why her personal life would matter to him. On such a level as this. "We're well enough," she replied a moment after swallowing. "Unless you know something I don't?" Did he know something she didn't? Her relationship with Gavin was what it was. She wouldn't say it was a seamless relationship, they did have their bumps from time to time, but it hadn't derailed them in any way. |

He carefully dodged her glare by taking a step to the side, so the brunette he was talking to would block the Indian woman from view. Though, now he was caught between a rock and a hard place because this lady looked like she was about to throw up. What? Had it been something he'd said?! "Ohhhhh," realization dawned on him with her words, "you're allergic. I am SO SORRY." He hastily swallowed and wiped his mouth clean of any traces of the food. Uhhhh uhhhhh, "well, luckily this isn't an Italian buffet! So you have plenty of tomato-free options. Haha!" He tried to give her a cheery grin but now she looked like she was going to pass out. Water! Yes! "HERE!" William dashed down the line and then back to her with a small paper cup of CLEAN water in hand. His plate, which still had some bruschetta on it, he stuck on the buffet table in a semi-clear spot. There. Out of sight and out of mind, ma'am. |

Oh, no crazy middle name. That was alright. "Yeah, Rachel's good. Still sounds good together and stuff." So it was okay. Probably better that it wasn't too over the top anyway probably. She wrinkled her nose a little at that though. "No, I don't go by Penny. Just Penelope." She did have nicknames of course, but Penny wasn't one of them. And then Ember was waving at some guy - who...looked somewhat familiar? An old Hogwarts professor a few terms ago or something? Seemed like there'd been lots of different professors during her seven terms there though, so Penelope couldn't quite remember. Ah well. Anyway. "M'gonna try them out later probably. Is it a lot different from riding a broom?" There were the obvious differences, of course, since a broom and a carpet were physically different, so y'know, besides those. |

Text Cut: Emily oops :D Heh, yes, he had a knack to say the right thing at the exactly right time. One of his skills in social interaction, he supposed. But hear hear, Zeke was getting along with Hogwarts and its dwellers quite well, that made his smile look even more genuine. "Wonderful news, right? Though he didn't hit me like the boy to have social problems." Aside from being too curious for his own good. And too energetic. And too naive. Okay, the boy was NOT to be trusted in social life, he had a loooong way to go before he could avoid the baddies Oh oops, he MAY have been giving her the wrong impression, oops, it was the most dangerous territory to mess with your boss' love life. "Uh no, no, not at all. I'm glad to hear it." He busied himself with some more food, chewing and gulping down some water. "Well.. let's pretend that Gavin is a normal guy with best friends and such." Pretend being the keyword here, Emily wasn't going to get offended by that, was she? She KNEW what she was getting herself into. "And that one of his best friends is a girl. A real one, not one of those muggle robot crap." Just saying. "And that he... well, he spends quite some time with her... maybe sometimes he'll cancel on you even! Huh? How would that make you feel? What would you say to that?" Hmm? Tooooootally a hypothetical situation, totally. Now spill, Boss Lady. |
SPOILER!!: So sorry >_< Ember was delighted with this girl. Really. She was a delightful little person. Very smart--Ember could just TELL--and also very friendly. HEH. "I know! Oh, cultures! All coming together at this WONDERFUL event! I do hope the carpets became legal--don't you?! They're so lovely!" And if people used them CORRECTLY there'd be NO problems! She NOMMMMed on some more of the food and eventually--her plate was clean. Or dirty, depending on how you looked at it. "Ember Rachel Brighten...yeah, it sounds good. What's your middle name, then? AND surname?" She giggled. She didn't know that, either, so it would be interesting to see if HER name flowed. A flow-y name was the best. "Penelope reminds me of a book I read back at Hogwarts--when I was still young and naive--" she siiiighed, you know, as if she were no longer either(she was totally both still). OH SNAP. It seemed Penelope did NOT like that nickname-it made Ember positively GIGGLE. "Yikes! SO sorry, love! I won't EVER call you Penny--ever--" NOPE. "I get called Em--Brighten--a friend of mine even calls me AMBER." HA? Had she mentioned that earlier? She might have. Her memory was going to the pits right now! "Poor bloke--I don't have the heart to correct him!" She said. "OH IT'S SOO WONDERFUL!" she cried, BOUNCING and stuff. HEH. "It was smooooth and so steady! And comfortable--MUCH more comfortable--than a broom!" she nodded a lot and sipped her drink and twirled around--TWIRLING! Her eyes lit up and she was so HAPPPPPYYY. She wanted to dance. Was there music somewhere?!?!?!? DANCING MUST HAPPEN SOON. |

She glanced back at the man in front of her again as he was being very understanding now that she had attempted to explain and she spared him a small smile as he become more accommodating. Allergic.. that was one way to put it. "Well.. not so much allergic. More like pregnant and for whatever reason, tomatoes seem to trigger my morning sickness," she tried chuckling a bit through the mild nausea, her free hand resting on her little bump. At four months, she seemed to be in that awkward stage of not being able to tell if she was pregnant or just putting on a few pounds around the middle. Smiling a little bigger as he was trying to be so pleasant, even if she still didn't feel well, Mariel glanced at the rest of the food and nodded. "Yes.. luckily.." Shame, though.. because normally she loved Italian food. Just couldn't stomach it lately. She was slightly surprised to see the man dash off and she watched him curiously a moment, smiling bigger as she saw him return. "Oh, thank you so much," she said, taking the cup of water and taking a few smaller sips. "That was really sweet of you. That's much better." Not completely, but at least she didn't feel like she was going to pass out and throw up at the same time. Maybe she could actually eat now. |
SPOILER!!: SO much lulz Wonderful news, yeah, sure. "Well I prefer it to any news I might receive from his Head of House or the Deputy. So I won't complain." She could live with his weekly owls, at least they were consistent, she wasn't forgotten. "He'll have friends wherever he goes I'm sure, interestingly enough though, most of them seem to be of the female persuasion." Should she be worried about this? Shouldn't he be roughing it up with the boys instead? It wasn't to say girls couldn't be roughed with. But knowing he was friends with the Skeeter girl didn't give him any hope where that matter was concerned. As for demolishing his heroic intentions... it was in his best interest to let go of the idea of being heroic. As Gavin had said so many times, heroes died, and that was a fate she didn't wish for the boy. He would die, over HER dead body. "I don't make promises I can't keep, Vic. You know that." Cue smirk. Emily continued eating, forking in mouthfuls of food at intervals as Vic clarified the point he had tried to make regarding her relationship with Gavin. An interesting topic of conversation if ever she heard one. She was about to take another bite when Vic suggested she play make believe. Gavin, with friends... Hahaaahaahaaaa! A silvery chuckle escaped her. Oh Vic, you're far too funny. Far TOOOO funny. "Uh huh, go on," she nodded, taking a moment to wipe a tear from the corner of her eye. Of course, the whole... make beleive/hypothetical scenario was an interesting one. Was this figure with the best friend him? Or January? ... Is this what it was about? Relationships were complicated. ... After considering the scenario a moment, she came a convoluted conclusion. "It would depend on the relationship," she started. "I trust Gavin, so if he was a normal person, had a female best friend and wanted to spend time with her over me... I can't say I'd be happy about it. But as long as it didn't interfere in our own plans or day to day routine, I'd be fine with it." But, on the other hand... "However, if trust wasn't there... then I would question if the relationship was worth having. Trust is necessary, as is companionship.. and if neither exist then it's time to call it quits." Too honest an assessment? Maybe. A part of her hoped that wasn't the case for Vic - the man deserved to be happy and generally did seem so. "But everyone is different, it's hard to say..." In other words, ignore everything and anything she had just said. "I'm the worst person to come to regarding relationship advice, did you know that?" |
Text Cut: they're such good friends xD OooOOh little Zeke was already popular among the ladies, that made Vic grin despite the confused mood he'd been in a moment ago. Not that Zeke's friends were considered ladies yet but that just proved the boy got game. "Niiiice." He was sure Emily was being a perfect guardian for the little boy, but he sure would love to give him some tips about the ladies when he was ready for it. About time someone benefited from his experiences, anyway. Ahem. That smirk, yeah, he knew. It took a considerably big amount of self-restraint not to roll his eyes at her. At least the kid would be getting used to her nature of demolishing unreasonable but heroic intentions soon. Besides, no need to comment further when she was going through his hypothetical idea. Well, she was laughing and wiping tears from her eyes at the idea of Gavin and friends first. Vic watched her with nervous uncertainty. Was she amused or... ? Anyway. He paid extra attention to her answer once she recovered, trying to assess it and apply it on SIGH. Trust it was then. He had no reason not to trust January or... her best friend, but it was hard to summon when your head roared with potential scenarios and when you're left to assumptions and ignorance. |

"Penelope Reyna Greenwell. That's my full name." She nodded. She'd almost just said Penelope Greenwell, because sometimes she almost forgot she even had a middle name since she so rarely used it or thought about it. Arithmancy usually had been the only time it came up, and she'd quit that subject in her fifth year. Which felt like AGES ago, Merlin. And apparently Ember had gone there too. "You went to Hogwarts? What house were you?" And good, she wasn't gonna try to call her Penny or anything. And apparently Ember knew what it was like to be called by the wrong name, though Penelope wasn't sure whether being called Penny or Amber was worse. "If he's your friend, you should be able to correct him, yeah? At least if it bothers you." Maybe it didn't bother Ember that much though. She seemed like an easy-going sort of person...sorta. ...Merlin. She REALLY liked that flying carpet then, considering she was twirling and stuff now. Though Penelope thought brooms were pretty comfy. Cushioning Charm and all that. "Definitely gonna try it then." And see if it really was more comfortable than a broom. |
SPOILER!!: Penelope Reyna. Ember thought it was a lovely name. A different, unique, lovely name. "Oh wow..it has such a great vibe--very tropical to me." She said with a grin. It probably wasn't tropical at all. but. Whatever. That's what Ember just THOUGHT, okay? She giggled a little... "I was a Hufflepuff. Can't ya' tell?" she asked, and she did a little twirly dance thing again...because DANCE MOOOOOD. "everyone always says it's soooo obvious that I'm a badger--" she grinned. "What about you-WAIT LET ME GUESS!" She stood up, stopped dancing, and SQUINTED at Penelope. "OKAY. You' seem smart, like a Ravenclaw--but--" Hmm. "You definitely strike me as a....GRYFFFFFFINDOR!" She pumped her fist into the air and said it all DRAMATIC like the Hat liked to doooo. Ember was not crazy. Nope. "See..I would..but...it's just so ENDEARING!" she said and she laughed a bit about it and clapped her hands together. THe shindig was in full swing, it seemed, as she glanced around. |

Penelope laughed. "Well now that you mention it, it does seem obvious." She hadn't met any Hufflepuffs that were exactly like Ember so it hadn't occurred to her before now, but it seemed pretty fitting. Very Hufflepuff-y. Whatever that meant. And the mention of her seeming like a Ravenclaw amused her a little, but she didn't mind it either. Better than someone thinking she was stupid, yeah? She laughed again. "Yep, you're right. Gryffindor." And she was glad Ember had gotten it right too. Nice to know her Gryffindor-ness wasn't hidden or something. "Oh, you like it then?" That was different then, she supposed, so there wasn't a need to tell him. She took a couple more bites of food and...that was it? She'd finished her plate already? Merlin. She needed more. |
