Albert Kettleburn EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Albert Kettleburn [IC January 2081 - December 2086; OOC June 2013 - January 2015]
Chelsea was late, and it wasn't fashionably. Hurrying along as any young witch could in heels, the young brunette slowed as she walked through the entrance hall, currently alone. No bother, though.
Adjusting the feather in her hair, the nineteen-year-old's eyes wandered the hall, taking everything in. The people she may work closely with, the hall itself, even the small details. She was curious. Hands folded in front of her, Chelsea continued on slowly.

Far too many employees to possibly know everyone and, really, he only really needed to know those from his own department, the other Department Heads, and a few select employees from other departments who Aron saw fit to remember.
"Good to see you again, Mr. Erikson," he said with an inclination to the head towards his new employee.
"Alright, Derfael...daddy needs to get some food." So, where was the buffet table?
Simon spotted Aron with baby in tow being all cute about fatherhood and his thoughts wondered to whether a certain Slytherdor couple would be making an appearance. Possibly with their own children. He had to admit it was weird thinking of Josh and Ev that way but nice to know he actually had a unofficial niece and nephew out there. That made him smile.
Something to possibly look forward to for the evening.
SPOILER!!: Roxanne

One more little screw up, and she was out of here, just like Wes, Schultz, Isobel and Ella. Sigh. Why did Greingoth have to leave again? Things were much under him.
Anyway, she quickly made her way through the entrance hall without stopping to talk to anyone, not even those she knew. They would be able to tell by the look on her face that she wasn't in the greatest of moods.
Letting his observant gaze wander over the room some more, he saw Roxanne, another former colleague turned department head. Was the MLE slowly taking over the ministry? He made a mental note to maybe check in with her to see how things, leaving her be for now since the former prosecutor seemed bothered at the moment.
SPOILER!!: Tasha

Everything looked sparkly, pretty and just well magical and perfect in celebration of a new year.
Gazing around slightly caught off guard she walked around she only with a very thin margin managed to not bump into another woman looking just as mesmerized as Tasha felt. "It looks pretty amazing, doesn't it?" she commented as she eyed the two staircases leading inside.
Letting her eyes drift over the other employees assembled in the Entrance Hall she immediately spotted her boss, Aron with a child by his side. She’d seek him out later during the ball for a chat. Not far from Aron her eyes landed on Simon, one of Dorian’s colleagues from MLE. Simon had been one of the people in charge of guarding her older sister Isobel when she’d been in quarantine. She lifted a hand to wave at him friendlily.
Speaking of Isobel; her sister was not going be in attendance tonight. It would feel weird and wrong for a long time Tasha imagined to not have her sister within walking distance if something happened.
Pushing the sad thought’s aside she glanced behind her outside hoping for a sight of Dorian. Instead her eyes landed on the Environment Department Head Roxanne, a woman whom she hoped to avoid if possible during the festivities. Especially now that she had a ring on her finger and Roxanne had in the past showed interest in the man who had recently put that ring on her finger.
Ducking behind a man in a tuxedo who had just walked in she hoped that Roxanne wouldn't spot her or the ring. Peering around the taller man she realized who she was hiding behind. "Charles?" she murmured in surprise.
Further on, Simon noticed another familiar face in the form of Tasha from Level 3. Dorian's girlfriend. And the friendly wave of greeting sent his way meant the woman had noticed him as well. He decided to go visit, making his way over to the woman even as she appeared to try to hide from someone. Cue eyebrow raise as he drew closer.
"Good evening..." he greeted tentatively as she revealed herself again. The auror not using her name in case it drew whatever unknown trouble might be around.

Yeah so didn't help.
He decided to head over to the food table. Maybe some food would take his mind off being slowly choked to death. Halfway to the food table his attention was diverted to the Minister of Magic, also dressed in a tux.
Hehe. Great minds.
And then his gaze fell on the guy the Minister was talking to and Ollie's eyes widened with surprise and he almost tripped over his feet. He recovered quickly and redirected his feet to the direction of the Minister and his BFF.
"WILLIAM WILLIAMSON! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" The temptation to give his friend a wet willy was very strong but Oliver managed to refrain. That was the Minister standing there after all.
"Evening Sir." he said with a nod of his head. "You're looking pretty spiffy."
William shook the Minister's hand back just as enthusiastically, hopefully not gripping it too hard and whatnot in all his shaking. Merlin, his hand was pumping like his cruppy's tail during feeding time. BOUNCEBOUNCEBOUNCEBOUNCE.
"Well managed, sure sure, I bet the WHOLE MINISTRY is well-managed with YOU at the helm, sir." He grinned a little bit, but all in earnest. Wow, the Minister sure did know how to use long phrases. Willy almost got caught up in listening to him talk instead of paying attention to what the man was actually saying. Eat? Did he want to eat with WILLY?
"No...... there's FOOD here?!" Point him to the food and he just might let go of your hand!
...or he might let go of your hand if he was startled into dropping it. William did just that when he heard his name being shouted halfway across the hall.
"OLIVER JENKINS!!!!!!!!!" Upon seeing the slightly shorter man, he forgot all about impressing the Minister and instead dragged his BFF into a massive bro-hug. "LOOKITCHOO! I'm HERE for the PARTY. HEY. Why didn't you tell me to wear a tux?"
Did William even own a tux? That was beside the point.
Smoothing down the front of her long, blue dress, January stepped into the entrance of the orientation, which was apparently also a ball. She had never been to a ball before, or anything really quite as fancy as this. And she was quite looking forward to it. An occasion to dress up was a good one. Although, she noticed quite a lot of people who had come here with dates... and she had not. Was she supposed to have? Maybe she would find William or Kaden and stick with one of them. Probably not Kaden. Or she could make new friends, she supposed.
But not yet, she decided just as her eyes landed on William from a distance. He looked rather nice in a suit and tie... Just an observation. January was just walking over when she heard someone else shout his name rather loudly. And then she watched as the taller one disregarded the Minister and attacked the other with a hug. Welp... she would wait to say hello, then.
Instead, she turned to the Minister and extended her hand, smiling. "Mister Kettleburn, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm January Pennifold, from Magical Creatures." And she hadn't realized until then just how exciting this was, meeting him. Heh. Cool.
Chelsea was late, and it wasn't fashionably. Hurrying along as any young witch could in heels, the young brunette slowed as she walked through the entrance hall, currently alone. No bother, though.

João'd lifted his head to see whether she was here or it was time to move to somewhere else, when his eyes met a stranger's. And lingered on her more than a normal glance.
Clearly, it was time to move somewhere. But he didn't. Instead, he smiled at her after a while of staring, and wondered whether she would have the courage to come and talk.

He turned when he noticed that Reese was looking at someone who had just entered. Oh, it was Cale! "Wait, your BOSS? Did he even work in the Ministry before this?" Jack asked. Not that he questioned Cale's credentials or anything, but he never seemed to remember what the man was up to.
"We can head over to the buffet table first," Reese told her husband with a nod of her head. She was starting to get hungry as well because she had only had a few crackers before coming to this orientation. "Then maybe you can join me on the dance floor?" He was her date after all, so he owed her at least one dance -- and she might sweet talk him into a second one if she had to. At his statement about not having to work until Sunday, she squealed a little and exclaimed, "That's exciting! We should have a family picnic at the park on Saturday before you go back."
She opened her mouth to answer Jack's question, but she quickly closed it when she realized she had to actually think about this question. "Um... I -- I think so?" The tone of her voice made it clear that she was uncertain. Merlin, she was such a bad friend if she could not even remember if Cale had worked at the Ministry before this! "I want to say yes," she added with a nod, "because if he did not work here previous, I do not see why he would have gotten a job here, you know?" Yeah, it made sense. "I'm excited though, Jack... to work under him. My first job at the Ministry, and I get to work under Cale Newell? I think I am going to enjoy it here."
She would enjoy it and be leaving a legacy here all at the same time.

He nodded in understanding when she mentioned how she missed her family. "Yes, that is always been a hard one - when I was traveling, my mom just did not rest until I left anything and came back to her," he told her, smiling.
His life? It had been quite uneventful, really. "Me? Oh nothing, my life has been quite uneventful," he repeated his first thought. "I have enjoyed the transition from being a Charms major to a Dragons guy, I admit," he told her. "And I think the highlight of my life since school has been that,"
Yep. He had been quite involved with his work.
As they reached the seating area, Cole pulled out a chair for her to sit.
Of everything she had said about what life had brought her way so far, Cole picked up on the one word she hoped he hadn't. Alex swallowed and her cheeks grew more pink than they had after the word slipped out.
"Yes. Romance" She bit her lower lip, thinking how to tell him without telling too much, because did he really want to know? That was when she heard a loud exclamation of two names being shouted across the room. Oliver Jenkins and William Williamson, who if you didn't know before, all of the Ministry knew them now. Shaking her head at the two grown men exchanging a bro!hug, she turned back towards Cole. "I'd say they haven't seen each other in awhile. But really, don't they know to how to use quieter voices at a ball? Oooh... and the minister!" Cue more flushing and inner!flailing.
"And it was kind of serious, I mean, he asked me to marry him." So yes, did that count as serious?
Really? Mr Cole Knight has had such an uneventful life so far? "You always had a way with creatures though, and not all that different, you know. Charms and dragons. But traveling is always eventful. Where'd you go?"
She smiled appreciatively when he pulled out a chair for her, and sat down. "Thank you," she murmured.

Aspen had gotten Ferris this far. It was basically already a winning night. If she could ACTUALLY get him inside, fed, and sat? Merlin. Award worthy feat.
Carefully, as not to startle the creature in its new environment, Aspen touched Ferris's elbow. "Are you remembering to breathe?" If she'd come alone, Aspen might have scanned the room, slipped in alone, found someone important to stalk .... but tonight, she'd chosen Science. For Science, Aspen was taking the MOST socially inept human out to a black tie social event among peers.

What could possibly go wrong?
So many people. BLINK.
People socializing on every which side of him. He was very much, well, um, you see, surrounded and overwhelmed. Meep. Could he go now? Ms. Odessa had pleasantly offered to accompany him here...but............people frightened him. Perhaps this would not work out.
He really DID want that picture of her eyes for science reasons, but this was way too much for him. Gulp.
"N-n-no," he whispered with bug eyes. Breathing. He knew he had forgotten something. Such a silly little part of the human condition, breathing, but never-the-less necessary for living.

So they needed to go over the "If You Pass Out" Plan again. Aspen took a few steps FORWARD, little steps, tiny steps really - but maybe he could move his legs still. "Remember... if you pass out... You'll be on the floor, then everyone will not only look at you, but come over to check on you. You remembering to breathe is imperative to our remaining inconspicuous." She nodded at him slowly, not at all figuring that would help, work, or even be heard fully. Aspen was pretty sure Ferris heard words words words words words when she spoke.
She hadn't gotten all glamored up. Just enough to not stand out, one way or the other. So long as Ferris really didn't barf or pass out, they probably would mostly fly under the radar. Aspen would get to watch another human suffer through their worst fear while also getting a free supper. Aspen tried to beckon him forward a few more steps again.

If Aspen observed people, so could he.
At some point during her slow wander of the entrance, Chelsea had come to a stop, practically in the middle of the hall. A perfect place to stop, except.. not really, no. But the young woman clearly wasn't worried, green eyes gazed around - and then came to rest on the other set of eyes staring back at her, eyes that belonged to a man that didn't look too much older than her. Though, Chelsea was no age expert.
So, perhaps he was new as well and just being friendly with that smile, or he was wasn't new and he could see she was, and was merely trying to encourage and welcome her. Analyzing people, also, wasn't one of Chelsea's strong points. Regardless, the man received a smile in return after a moment - before she decided to walk closer, since.. it seemed a bit rude not to, after staring back and forth.. yes?
"Hello," Chelsea said, friendly smile still playing on her lips as she reached the man.
It was probably best she get out of the middle of the hall, anyway.

Cora was HERE. Finally. She'd spent a little extra time in deciding what dress she wanted to wear - this was like the third? fourth? one of these she'd been to and that narrowed down her choices on dresses she already had because she couldn't possibly wear one she'd already worn, could she? No, she couldn't. So she'd had to choose from the few she hadn't worn yet and it had been hard but finally she'd decided, obviously, because she was here.
And now that she was here...what should she do? She was dateless so she didn't have a person right with her yet whom she could talk to. Perhaps she'd find a coworker somewhere? Or someone new, she didn't especially mind. Especially if they were an attractive male. So she looked around. Hmmmm.

Being frozen meant that people would avoid him and not look at him. He found that with dinosaurs historically if one didn't move they were not pursued. And naturally, since he knew about as much about dinosaurs as he did about human interaction he felt the analogy was applicable. Meep.
Oh was Ms. Odessa telling him something? Yes, she was. Social conventions dictated that he had to listen and be attentive during conversation. Even in the depths of his anxiety, "I-I know..." BUG EYES. And he did not want people to look at him more. It was at times like these he wished he had a shell to retreat into. Skin was hardly serviceable.
Dragging his feet along the floor with squeaky shoes, he began to inch forward.
Kaden looked around, slipping his hands into the pockets of his trousers as he entered the Entrance Hall. A half-smile turned up the corner of his lips and he continued to walk slowly. He was excited for this. Work party. People. Colleagues. Women. He also planned on meeting his new boss sometime during this whole shindig, but that was lower on his priorities.
Right now, he was going to have some fun. But... where to first?
...or he might let go of your hand if he was startled into dropping it. William did just that when he heard his name being shouted halfway across the hall.

Oliver gave his friend a few slaps on the back before pulling back and grinning at Willy. "Dude! Aren't you old enough to dress yourself by now?" Or at the very least know what outfit is required for certain events. "But you look good."
Don't ever let it be said that he wasn't a very good friend.
Giving his friend a light punch in the arm, he then looked around the immediate vicinity of where they were standing. "Flying solo tonight mate?"
Or maybe not....

Though Charles didn't speak to many people as if they were good friends, he counted Natasha as one of those and he wanted to know what was going on in her life!
Jealous pets were hard enough to deal with, but when they were a phoenix it became that much more difficult. The only saving grace was that Lorelai had gotten upset over his mother’s owl, not the usual owl from Italy. Dorian had been oddly grateful that there hadn’t been a lot of correspondence from Italy lately, seeing as it had given him the time to decide that it was alright to move on from that whole situation. Gabriel would always be there in the background, but he was content in trusting that his former best friend wasn’t going to be leaving the prison there any time soon. However, the owl/phoenix situation had meant that he was going to be late to the Ministry orientation ball, especially as he hadn’t felt it safe to get dressed for it until the birds were appeased and the owl had been sent back with a brief reply to the letter it had been carrying. After that, he’d been free to finally get dressed and head to the event. At least he was far from a newcomer, so the function was merely there for him to mingle, if he ever really had been one to do so.
There had been one reason why he’d been more willing to suffer through it all, anyway, and he’d let his grey eyes scan the entrance hall for the familiar blonde head of the person he’d spent most of the holiday with. For once he’d decided that he wasn’t even going to worry about others causing issues, and he’d walked over calmly as he’d found Natasha speaking with a man he was fairly certain he remembered seeing at one point or another. It wasn’t Roxanne, and the department head seemed awfully inconspicuous anyhow. Therefore, he’d felt safe enough to slip an arm lightly around Natasha’s waist as he’d come up alongside her in time to hear a conversation about languages and Scotland. Hmm, he thought, before he spoke. “I apologize for being late. Lorelai sends her apologies as well, along with another gift,” he said, a slight smile on his face as he’d offered her another feather. It somewhat seemed appropriate anyhow, and he’d sent a nod toward her companion as well. More proper greetings could wait for a moment, as there were other answers that could be more interesting. They hadn’t told many people, after all, which reminded him that he’d meant to see if Wes had been around as well.

Alysson stopped once she'd stepped into the entrance hall to take everything in. There were quite a lot of new faces among the crowd. This was what she liked about these kinds of events. They could get to know their future co-workers beforehand.
Now where were the people she did know?
Hazel eyes briefly scanning the room they finally fell on a small group of people which not only included the Minster but also William. Smiiile. Alysson swiftly made her way over to where they were standing. "Hi." Touching William's back lightly to get his attention before moving to stand next to him, Aly first smiled at him before directing a polite one at the Minister. "Minister."Good to see you too.
Now, those other people. Where they just standing there or did they know each other? She offered them a small smile as well.
Further on, Simon noticed another familiar face in the form of Tasha from Level 3. Dorian's girlfriend. And the friendly wave of greeting sent his way meant the woman had noticed him as well. "Good evening..." he greeted tentatively as she revealed herself again. The auror not using her name in case it drew whatever unknown trouble might be around.
Simon. Turning slightly trying her best to not to stumble on the long hem of her dress she beamed brightly as the auror joined her and Charles. "Good evening Simon." She beamed brightly. "Did you have a good vacation?" And yes lovely another figure to hide her and her ringed finger from Roxanne’s view.

Fidgeting Tasha wondered if she should seek the other woman out during the ball and tell her the news woman to woman. But she was very reluctant. Roxanne scared her just a bit. Her thoughts were interrupted as a familiar arm slipped itself around her waist. Turning slightly Tasha beamed. "You’re finally here." She chirped happily as she leaned in to give Dorian a light kiss on the mouth as a way of greeting.
Taking the feather from Dorian’s hand some moments later she eyed it curiously. "Why did Lorelai drop another feather? Don’t tell me she got into a beak fight with another owl again?" Handling the feather with care she gently placed it into her handbag. She was not going to lose this precious gift. "I like the feather very much." She mumbled quietly before she gazed around the very crowded hall. Could they go and get something to eat?

Charles couldn't speak fairy because they spoke above the normal human range, but he was sure they weren't too upset about that. They weren't ones for visitors. When Tasha hesitated about her holiday, he straightened up a little bit. "If you don't want to tell me, I understand." He bowed his head gracefully again, not wanting her to be uncomfortable.

"Going to start working in transportation," Tasha repeated to herself. "That is a good department. I started out there when I first joined the ministry as well, in the apparition offices." She told Maya with a cheerful beam. After she had transferred out of there they’d had their share of department head switches but so had every department in the ministry. Lucky for her Aron was still around. She didn’t want to have to get used to yet another department head’s quirks.
Nodding she tried to count the years she'd worked at the ministry but quickly gave up. "I am a returning employee, yes. I've worked more years in this place than I can remember." Which was a little sad she contemplated. Shrugging Tasha asked "So where will you start working?"
"Oh, really?" Maya grinned. That made her feel more confident. Natasha seemed genuine when she said that. Like she wasn't just saying it to be polite. Which, of course, was great. She'd been looking forward to the new job but had been a bit nervous, but that was only to be expected. It was a big change and something completely new to her.
She nodded at the woman's words. Maya wasn't really sure what to say to that, so kept it to a smile and a nod. "I think I'm a...Floo Network Specialist," she said. Maybe she should know her exact job title. Was that all professional? At least she was pretty sure it was something like that.
Sooo... the girl returned the smile and greeted him. The people hadn't changed here, it seemed. They were still brave and outgoing. João didn't think he would ever be able get over it, but he wasn't going to misuse her trust either.
"Hello," he greeted her back with a handsome smile. "I am João Neves." He held out his hand to shake.
He should actually be smiling, or rather squinting, at someone else in the hall but he hadn't noticed her and her date yet. He was still too focused on this stranger.
Late late late, he was late. Vic was never late, but this time he allowed his sister to fuss over his suit before he went out the door. He should've gone out the back door or simply disapparated while he was in his room. No use thinking about it now, though, he was finally here and walking into the Hall with an easy grin on his face. This was fancy, fancier than last year, but again, it was not a black-tie last year. Spotting a few familiar faces, Vic nodded and smiled and waved but didn't stop to officially greet anyone, mainly because he was late and everyone seemed to be absorbed in their conversations already.
Instead, he walked on looking for one particular person he was willing to interrupt, and was eager to talk to.

"Chelsea Winnington-Mae," The nineteen-year-old replied and offered her hand in return, after he introduced himself. Her smile ever present, Chelsea glanced over as she heard yelling of names, one of which almost sounded familiar.. but no, that couldn't be. She was too new for familiarity.
"It's nice to meet you, João Neves." Chelsea added, once her attention shifted back to the seemingly charming man before her. "Is this your first Ministry Ball as well?" She asked, partly curious. "And if not, does it get any more interesting than this?" Because at the moment, she was wishing she had brought Topher along for company and to keep her entertained.

Ainsley walked into the hall and immediately had her breath taken away. This was absolutely magnificent. She knew that she had made the right choice in applying here, her parents would understand. Truthfully, she was really nervous about the meet and greet. She didn't know anybody and she definitely did not have a date. Maybe she should have forced somebody into coming with her just so she wouldn't feel so weird.
Deciding that it was best if she didn't look like she had never been anywhere nice, Ainsley moved along the hall in search for somewhere that she could blend and hopefully not stick out like a sore thumb. Surely she would look less awkward holding a drink or something.

"Giant.." she repeated slightly surprised. "Why did you take a course to learn giant? Do you need it your job?" Why else would you go to the trouble of learning a language that Tasha thought just sounded like someone had put all words in a mixer and then blurted them out in a jumble that nobody could understand very well. Scotland. Tasha wasn’t sure if she could tell Charles without Dorian there. "I, we----"she cut off not sure what to say or if she should say anything at all.
Simon smiled back at her greeting before nodding first at her question and then answering. "Actually yes. And it was relaxing for once." So maybe it had been so since he had been threatened to actually enjoy the time off by his brother. The older man reminding him that in their mutual profession slow times were rare and often regretted missing.
Didn't mean he had also been itching to get back to work.
Hearing talk of various languages the other gentleman was speaking with Tasha about, he waited to ask of her own time off when she wasn't busy. However it was at that time that her other half finally made his appearance in the mix. "Good evening Dorian," he greeted with a polite nod, briefly wondering if he best leave them alone or not.

Heh. Cool.

Giving his friend a light punch in the arm, he then looked around the immediate vicinity of where they were standing. "Flying solo tonight mate?"
Or maybe not....
A young woman approached their little circle and he raised his eyebrows as she introduced herself to the Minister. January? That was quite an unusual name.
Oliver glanced back at his friend. "Is she with you?" Had his friend finally found someone other than Cece Tillstorm?
Merlin, he hoped so.
Ha, tux or no tux, William knew he looked good anyway. He smoothed out his tie and gave his bro a grin. "Yeah, you're just overdressed anyway." Trying to show up the Minister, Oliver was. He was about to answer the question about flying solo when...
...along came a January. In a gorgeous gown. Wow. Hey, it matched his tie! William hoped he wasn't drooling staring too much... he blinked a few times when Oliver whispered to him and shook his head. No, uh, nope, he wasn't exactly with her... but he did know her!
"Hey January!" he gave the redhead a small wave so she could come talk to them when she was done with the Minister. To Oliver, he added in a lower voice, "She went to school with us, but I think she's going to be in the same department as me." Cuz spirits and dragons went together like peanut butter and jelly! Clearly!
Oliver was probably soon going to realize he was on the wrong floor, heh.

Oh! Hey there was another one of his..... friiiiiiiends........ hehe. "Hi!" William greeted Alysson quite happily, even if she too wanted to talk to the Minister. Why was he so popular, gooooosh, he was stealing all the girls away.
"Alysson, this is my oldest and best friend Oliver." Introductions for everyone! And yes, Olly was totally old. Heh heh.
Speaking of old though... was it just him, or was there some chick staring at them from across the hall who looked EXACTLY like his sister?! William paled for a moment at the sight of the woman. Um. Had Olly brought her as a date or what??
