Here you will find the extensive library containing all of the information and research gathered from the work that the Department of Mysteries has uncovered since it's inception. Photos, actual artifacts, a warded bell jar containing a broken timeturner, and countless tomes, grimoires and records fill the space. Including, a certain book of fairytales which made everyone at Hogwarts believe that they were characters from fictional children's stories during 2084.

As an Unspeakable, you may use the archives to further your research or even document the discoveries you've made or update existing files. Visitors to the Department of Mysteries will need to be granted permission either by their Department Head or another higher-up.

If you aren't at all sure where to start, you can pull up to the main desk and tell the archivists what you're looking. She'd probably be happy to help you out. If you're more of a self-starter, however you can check the bureau drawers for any specific information you might need. It will tell you where certain bits of information are kept.

Elizabeth smiled and took a deep breath! This was it, she finally felt like she was a home!! She was in her element and was so excited to be starting this journey. Being in the department of mysteries had always been a dream of hers and now she was here. Wearing a black maxi skirt and just a simple white top, Beth finally felt like she had already been here for years. She was loving it already.

No need to delay her work any further. With a stack of papers in her hands Beth was ready to file away and do a little research of her own.

"Ms. Greene?", Jasper's voice called to the Archivist a bit louder than before but far from shouting in the vast space of the record hall. He did not immediately see her, but presumed she might have been working somewhere in the back, or perhaps even sitting down. In his hands was a sheeted object or perhaps several objects that he gripped securely, almost white-knuckling them. A post-traumatic reaction, maybe, but Jasper Mitterbill was also prone to nervous disposition.

Beth was absorbed in her work. She had been filing away reports from Hogwarts. Something about the spirits of Pirates invading the bodies of some of the students? Scary business, Beth was really glad that she was still in the muggle word for that one! Sounds crazy! Hearing a voice Beth smiled. She had company! Standing up form her squatting position in the rows of files. She turned toward the voice.

Hello! Just Beth will do" She said wiping some of the dust off of her black maxi skirt. It made Beth feel slightly old with the Ms. Greene business."You must Mr. Mitterbill." Elizabeth told her the man in front of her. Which had to be her boss. "I apologize for not getting a chance to stop by your office before. But there was already a stack of work for me, and it did not feel right leaving it unattended." There, that explained why she didn't go introduce herself right? Now that Beth thought about it, she really should have stopped by. "But none the less, what can I do for you Sir?

Alana Ritter was lost. Completely and utterly lost. She was exploring at first but now she was most definitely lost. She had finally come into this room where it was almost like a library with stacks of photos and artifacts galore. It is basically like heaven to her and she knew she'd be in this room a lot...that is if this room was even a part of the department of mysteries.

She saw some people at the main desk but decided that she'd just continue exploring this fantasy room on her own while she was at it. No use in abandoning the fun of being lost, right? She walked along the edge of the room, looking at all of the photos when she heard someone call out a 'Ms. Greene'. She recognized that name because she remembered someone mentioning that a Ms. Greene would be working in the same department, but she had yet to really meet anyone with the extent of her research that she was doing.

Alana watched as a man walk over to the woman and she asked if he was a 'Mr. Mitterbill'. Wait a second. That was the department head. Right. Maybe she should introduce herself seeming as she hadn't even met the person who had hired her. So rude, very rude, indeed.

Alana walked over to the two with a small smile on her face and gave a slight wave. "I hope m'not intruding, I couldn't help but hear; Ms. Greene and Mr. Mitterbill, yes? I'm Alana Ritter and I thought I vould introduce myself." She said, in her German accent. "I'm also in ze department ov mysteries." She nodded towards the woman.

So these were the Archives that Mr. Mitterbill was going to show him. He wanted to know everything. Nathan supposed this was his curse. The constant struggle to know everything.

And here were lots of things that TONS of people didn't know. Secrets. The life-blood of what he used to do. Merlin. Tempting but glorious.

But he was going to be a good boy...Man...person. Right. The point was, he was going straight here, doing the right thing. Right.

Out of the corner of his eye, Jasper spotted the newest member to the Charmist team as she wandered into the archives. Though she seemed a bit hesitant, he wrote it off as her being nothing more than garden variety new employee jitters. Inwardly, he experienced a fleeting moment of pride at the new hire. She was already getting right into work.

She then approached.

Whoops.

A certain Department Head, and we aren't going to say who, had forgotten to send all of the new hires their orientation packets. His mind immediately vacated toward remedy and did not stop to consider the cause of such a mishap. Which was very foolish of a wizard prone to strange and unconscious action. Nonetheless, ...

"Miss Ritter! The new Charmist. The pleasure is all mine." He would've extended a hand were they not occupied with a sheeted object or objects. "How clever of you to meet us down here. I was just showing Mr. Prince...Nathan around the Department. Giving him a tour. Answering his questions and all that. You're welcome to join if you like, Miss Ritter."

Everyone and first names here! In his years of life, Jasper had learned nothing of getting too friendly too fast and so this suited him well. He took it as a sign that they were at ease the new Unspeakables were. "Alright, Beth." He said with a smile. "That's me, yes." His smile maintained as he realized this one was no mucking about. "I've come to make a deposit. This just arrived in my office." He said holding up the thin and sheeted object.

"So the Archives, as I'm sure you may have pieced together are where we store the artifacts and documentation for some of the things we're studying in the Department of Mysteries. You'll find a number of strange things and also documentation detailing any magical abilities they can be said to have. You'll also find a number of dangerous things down here as well. That is why, for your own safety, I recommend researching any artifact or objects before trying to handle them." As he spoke, the older wizard moved over to a blank wall and mounted the sheeted object securely before pulling away the sheet. A branching set of individually framed mirrors seemed to be nothing at all out of the ordinary before Mr. Mitterbill stepped before them and each manifested it's own personal eye. "Please take care of this Looking Glass for us, won't you, Beth?".

Jasper stepped away from the mirror and in due time the eyes shut and vanished.

"If you have plenty of questions, then you're on the right track. Our goal here as Unspeakables is to find answers to some of the most damning and unfathomable questions known to Wizardkind. The Archives is a great place to start for the simple fact that every question that has ever passed through the Department of Mysteries has been saved and recorded here. The bureau stores topics and information on index cards which also tell you where in the room you'll find any related lab results or objects. It works much like a library in that way. Does that make sense, everyone?" Hopefully, they were still with him. He'd said more than he'd meant to. "Just about the only thing you won't find stored away in here are prophecies. They are all, of course, stored in the Hall of Prophecies. That is because only trained orb specialists may handle the prophecies themselves."

Beth noticed another woman out of the corner of her eye had appeared by her precious jewels....okay so there was only some jewels down here, but it felt like that to Beth. Turning her attention toward the woman who appeared to be snooping....SNOOPING, well not that wasn't going to fly on Beth's watch!!! Beth took a breath, it's okay, it's okay, she was just going to have to inform the woman the rules of HER archives...okay, again, they weren't really 'hers' per say just hers for the preservation and restoring and safe keeping. Beth was about to say something when the woman introduced herself as a member of the Department of Mysteries. Beth let the air out of her lungs like a balloon deflating! Okay, crisis averted.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Elizabeth Greene" She added toward her new co-worker.

Watching her boss place the Looking glass up Beth walked over to examine it very carefully. "Any hidden qualities you've discovered about the looking glass?" There were rather rare and unusual as it was, but if it was every more dangerous it would depend on where she stored this wondrous item. "Does it appear to be overly dangerous?" Beth was smiling from ear to ear, she was in her element right here.

Nathan eyed the mirror distractedly as Mitterbill spoke, because the mirror had an eye in it and then it was gone, the place was filled with interesting and dangerous things? This would be quite exciting. "I'm sure i'll find some questions. Lots of questions." Because with all that knowledge on hand how could one not?

The younger man seemed to be looking all over the place.

Then this Beth was there to deal with the Mirror, he should introduce himself? He assumed so. "Hello, i'm Nathan Prince, i'm new here.. the Time Specialist." He might have laid the charm on a bit thick, but this was his previous job, charming people, anyone he'd met because who knew when that would seem useful and it was usually very good at it. It didn't hurt that he was handsome. "What do you do around here?" He asked and smiled. Eyeing the mirror..

Beth smiled at the man, depsite the excess use of charm in his voice he seemed nice enough. And after all Elizabeth really should get to know her co-workers. You needed friends right? And beside yet again, she would need something or someone as a distraction for her ill mother every now and then.

"Nice to meet you, Elizabeth Greene." She said sticking her hand out for a shake. "I take care of the archives. So everything you see before is in my realm." Beth gestured toward to whole room. She was madly in love with it already! "I look after many things! Top secret things." Beth added, just a slight reminder that there would be NO snooping under her watch. You came in to look at the things you needed to research and no more! "What exactly does a Time specialist do?" She asked Nathan still while examining the Looking glass. She loved the thing! It was fascinating to her.

That's when Beth noticed yet another man appear. Jeez what's with all the company!! One minuet it was peaceful morning a filing and the next, every person in the world was down her to see her! Oh well, it was nice to see people every now and then. But no SNOOPING! So again, Beth was ready to pounce like a cat on it's prey, but that's when Mr. Mitterbill seemed to know the man, must be another co-worker, Beth thought.

Turning her attention right back to Mr. Mitterbill. "Well what do we have here!" Beth exclaimed, her eyes instantly lighting up at the newest object to join her ranks.

While Alana was walking over she noticed the other woman giving her a look and she raised an eyebrow at her. Was she doing something wrong? Either way it seemed to disappear from the lady's mind and Alana nodded towards her. "Nice to meet you too." She said.

Alana smiled at Mr. Mitterbill as he said the pleasure was all his. It made her feel pretty important and she was loving it. Mr. Prince...Nathan? She smiled at Nathan and turned back to Mr. Mitterbill. She noticed that everyone was going on a first name basis and she decided that she would join in on it as well. It'd be weird if she was the only stuck-up one here who wanted to be called by her last name. "Call me Alana and I vould lov to join, zank you." She nodded towards him and then the others. She listened to him as he explained what the archives are for and her mind filled with all of the things she could possibly be doing in here. It was exciting. Wait, a looking glass? She watched as Beth asked question after question and she could tell that Beth was definitely going to be a good caretaker of that. She'd have to remember to ask Beth later about it. But wait...did she say overly dangerous? Alana's eyes widened a bit. If it's overly dangerous, she's not going anywhere near it, so she avoided eye contact with the looking glass and decided to look at one of the walls of archives. She nodded as he asked if everyone understood what he was saying and she let him continue. Oooh, the hall of prophecies. She wondered if Nathan was an orb specialist. He seemed pretty mysterious to her and seemed like a person who would take care of...orbs.

Alana watched as Nathan approached Beth and she couldn't help but smile as he tried to put the charm on her. In reality, Alana should be putting the charm on him since she was a charmist. Heh. She shook her head at the two and decided that she wouldn't intervene especially if he was trying to impress Beth, so she put her attention back to the looking glass, no matter how overly dangerous it was. She wouldn't ruin it for them, but she couldn't help but overhear that Nathan was actually a time specialist. So not an orb specialist. Either way it seemed mysterious. And she heard that Beth took care of the archives. Made sense and that's probably why she gave her that look earlier. Alana would have to remember to also tell Beth that she wouldn't mess up her archives that way Beth wouldn't think she was suspicious or that she couldn't trust her.

"So Mr. Mitterbill...vat is your favorite part of ze department ov mysteries?" Alana turned to him. Might as well make conversation with him, right?

Nathan grinned at Beth as they shook hands. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Elizabeth." Okay, he was laying it on too thick. Time to dial it back. He was a normal, not TOO mysterious guy. "Sounds like you have the most interesting job around here." Cause all of the information.

Now the old Nate would have been interesting in gaining her trust so that he could have all this info at his fingertips, surely some of it had to be lucrative. But not the new Nate, nope. He was just trying to have an honest job and pay his bills. That's it. Right? Right. Good..right.

"That's the mystery isn't it?" He joked and smiled, taking the charm back a little, but it was still there just a tad. He was just a bit naturally charming. "Mainly conducting expariments on time but also studying how it flows and fixing any events that have been tampered with or changed in the past." Which was incredibly interesting to him already, time was his playground in a sense.

Then there was another woman. Nate turned to her. Hmm, she was pretty wasn't she? But he was already taken. Though they weren't supposed to know that. "Alana? Pleasure to meet you." He offered her his hand as well, keeping the charm moderate as he just had with Beth.

Beth had all she could do not to roll her eyes at Nathan. Was he trying to flirt with her? Or just make good use of his face? Either way Elizabeth was not interested. She had just met the man for Merlin's Sake! But anyway moving on from that. "I find my job very interesting." Beth was a little over zealous about her position. She was loving every second of it! Every single second!

So Alana, another co-worker. And Beth needed to list of who she all worked with so she wasn't worried about snoopers in her area. She probably should lighten up a bit, but her treasures were not to be taken lightly.

"Nathan was there anything you needed?" She added toward the gentle who was a obsessive flirter. "Or you Alana?" Beth didn't want to keep them waiting of either of them were here for a propose. Of course they were welcome to stay and talk! She just didn't want to leave work unattended to.

Jasper waited, patiently for Nathan to complete his flirting. He was not the sort that would intercede without clear protest from the recipient, though in the case of Beth, it seemed that Nathan might have preferred he did. Jasper hadn't realized Ms. Greene's streak of ferocity before this impromptu gathering. It was something he could appreciate, though. And he directly translated it as a layer of added security for the artifacts and objects.

"No hidden qualities to speak of. It was sent to us by the Estate of Mrs. Philbius Earle. Apparently, they couldn't sell it at an auction on account of a non-existent half. From what I can tell, it seems to be just an ordinary looking glass." He'd be bringing the certifications down at a later time as well to file away for the object. Her large grin did not go unnoticed and it reflected upon his own face. Not as large, of course. He might have been a more introverted type.

"I think you'll find that breaches are quite rare." He went on to assure Beth. "Though, they do happen from time to time. So I think it might be a good idea that we take some time to go over how to distinguish true forms of clearance from the false ones. If you wouldn't mind reporting to my office at the end of the day, Beth. I'd be happy to show you."

Jasper held a friendly, even if not very large smile as Alana cared to join them. It was not for lack of being pleased, though. He was somewhat of a more reserved wizard. The Department Head gave a side glance toward the Time Specialist as he offered his slightly less flirtatious greeting toward Miss Ritter. Or maybe it wasn't flirtatious at all and he was just seeing it because he thought he'd seen it moments ago with Miss Greene. Anyway, so long as it wasn't hurting anyone, Jasper preferred to use a non-judgey method of interacting with people. And especially those that he worked with. What personal habits or practices they partook in weren't things he'd say he had a well-sharpened call on.

"My favourite part of the department." He said addressing Alana's question. "Well, I got my start as a Prophecy collator in the Hall of Prophecies. I used to work there with an older gentleman whom you might know as our new minister for magic. His name is Sherman Clark." He fell asleep at meetings sometimes, but it was cool.

"I think we're about done distracting Beth from her work. If you would follow me back to the office I have some things for you to sign." He told them

Nathan saw the look on Beth's face, she seemed annoyed with him. Maybe he was coming on too strong? He hadn't tried a Honeypot in a while, he hadn't even run a Con in months. Maybe he was losing the gift. Hmm.. Wasn't the worst thing that could happen. It's not like that was a life he was returning to.

But maybe this woman didn't like being flirted with? Maybe she disliked such advances as some women do? So perhaps he still had it completely. But who knew.. "No, thank you though, Beth." He didn't need anything at the moment. But he knew where to go if he did, he just had to remember to keep that flirting to a minimum.

Right, the Minister guy. Maybe it was cause Nathan was an American but he didn't see all the fuss over the old dude. He was like the wizard president? Yeah? Nate wasn't super impressed but that.

"All right, lead the way, Bossman." He said in a friendly way, Never hurt to make friends with your boss, or at least attempt to make friends?

Alana turned to Nathan with a smile. "Yes zat is me. Nice to meet you as vell." She said, shaking his hand in return. She watched as Beth asked them if they needed anything and Alana got a feeling that she was very protective over the archives. Like seriously protective. "Er...no. Nothing really. Just looking around, but I vill get out ov your hair iv you need me to." She nodded, feeling a bit uneasy. "I don't vant to be in your vay."

She turned back towards Mr. Mitterbill and listened intently as he described his start as a prophecy collator. "Vat is a prophecy collator? Vat do you do in zere?" She asked, very curious as to what exactly that position did. Did they just stock the prophecies or look at them? "Is he that nice? I've only heard nice zings about him." She asked. Hopefully that wasn't too straight-forward but she was curious. She had always wanted to meet the new minister of magic, but still hadn't gotten the chance too. She nodded once he said that he things for them to sign. She didn't want to bother Beth anymore or get on her bad side by being there.

Alana inwardly laughed as Nathan said 'bossman' to Mr. Mitterbill. Nathan definitely reminded her of the boys that she went to university with and in a way that was good but in a way it wasn't. She made sure to take note of Nathan as they worked together because she was indifferent to him right now. "Like Nathan said. Lead the way, er...sir." She said, giving an amused smile.

Beth was smiling at everyone. She forgot what it was like to have a conversation with someone who wasn't really 'present' all the time. And since she knew that everyone she present was someone she worked with and not snooping it made it much easier for her to relax.

"Sounds good Mr. Mitterball" She was trying to figure out for sure where she was going to place the looking glass. She had some space back in corner A-4. A nice spot for it. And then her boss wanted her to report to his office. Oh Dear Merlin, not already. She couldn't be in trouble already could she? Nope, they wanted to discuss security measures. Whew, bullet dodged!

"Sure thing Sir, just let me put this little beauty away and I'll be right there." Beth added smiling grabbing the Looking Glass and moving toward the back of the archives.

Jasper turned his attention over to Miss Ritter when she asked what a Prophecy Collator was. He had forgotten for the moment that not everyone was equally acquainted with the terms and jobs that went into the business of seeing. If one could really call it that. He was never able to make a profit from it himself. The time he did try this venture resulted in him being taken for a ride by a conartist.

"A prophecy collator. Right. Whilst I held the position I would collect, listen to and record different prophecies made by Seers all over the United Kingdom and sometimes out side of that. I would then have to compare them. See if one thing led to another or see if perhaps they were two or more prophecies made about the same event or the same person. It would be the prophecy collators job to report any findings to the department head especially if there were things that could be harmful to wizarding society." And in a way, you could sort of look at all the jobs that they did there as having a large impact on their society. It was just that no one really knew that.

Jasper gave a small nod in response to her comments about Minister Clark. "Yes, Minister Clark is a very nice man. Though, it may take a little time to truly get to know him." He was afterall an Unspeakable and not everything was so upfront. Also, how long were Miss Ritter's nails...?

"Very good. We'll start heading toward the office now and meet up with her." Jasper began by taking the first steps out of the archives.
