Transportation: Transportation Waiting Area [Entrance of Boat House]
Abandoned Boatyard at Lot's AitThe Department of Magical Transportation needs lots of space for all their many projects. Hopefully these old buildings are safe from prying Muggle eyes.

Welcome to the Level 6
Waiting Area!
Welcome to the Lot's Ait, an abandoned boat yard on the River Thames where the Department of Magical Transportation is currently conducting business. Whether you need to meet with someone about a Porkey, take exams for your Apparation license, report a broom malfunction or need a Floo connection approved or repaired you are in the right place. Please have a seat, enjoy the magazines and Daily Prophets and someone will be with you shortly.
Be sure to sign the visitor's log! Have a great day!
OCC: Any visitors or even employees please just post in here and someone from the Department will be with you to help shortly. In your post just post entering, signing the visitor's log (in you rpost just do a short little quote or signing in with Name, Department/position in MoM, place of work if applicable, and reason for visit)

Jory stepped confidently into Transportation's waiting area. He didn't mind that he'd been assigned here. Except for Transportation being located at a boathouse. Heh. He'd have to get used to the smell. Good thing the volunteers for Security would be rotated.
He noticed the visitor's log and stepped up to sign it:

Hopefully, someone would be here soon. In the meanwhile, why not flick through some of those magazines?

Cale had set up a nifty little jinx that alerted him in his office whenever someone was in the entrance area. And ding ding ding! It had gone off, meaning their first visitor was here! WOOOOOT!
Cale hurried from his office and found a young man signing in. He grinned and extended a hand for a shake as he approached. "Hi! Cale Newell, Department head. How can I help you?" he asked.

Jory had just finished signing in when he turned and found someone already there. Woah. That was fast. But that was good. At least he could get a move on with things.
He held out his hand and shook the man's hand firmly. "Hello, Mr. Newell.'' Who better to meet first than the Head of Department? "Jory Stonewall, YATI. I just wanted to inform you that I have been temporarily assigned here to provide security for your Department.'' Temporarily because the security volunteers would be rotated. "Is there anywhere in particular that should patrol regularly?'' Best get all those details out of the way.

"Nice to meet you, lad," Cale said with a smile. Yes, this boy was DEFINITELY a lad. Much younger than Cale. But he could tell by his firm handshake that the guy would be a good security dude - not that Cale thought they needed a WHOLE lot out here at the abandoned boat yard, but you could never be too careful!
"Well, I think the best place for you to patrol would be the work areas," he explained with a nod. "That's where people will be the most, and if anyone were to break in, that's probably where they'd head first due to all the people," he explained. That's what he would do if he were a curious Muggle - head to the place with all the noise and talkative folks. "Also feel free to sit in on any meetings or anything like that, it would probably help if you were aware of what was going on so you can report back to Miss Browne," he added. That made sense, right?

"Nice to meet you too, Sir,'' Jory responded and returning the smile. He now listened intently as the Head of Department spoke. Patrol the work areas. Yes. He could do that. It would be a good opportunity to get to know people too. He had not done much of that in his first year here and was hoping to change that.
As for meeting..."Yes, I will do that, '' the YATI said with a nod. Now that they had this out of the way, could he go check out this smelly, old boathouse and it's current inhabitants? He was eager to do that. ''Would there be anything else?'' he added politely.

"Nope, nothing right now. If I think of anything, I'll let you know," Cale said with a smile. "I apologize, because I would show you around, but we have a meeting about setting up safe apparition zones that I have to get to," he explained, checking his watch. Yeah, that was like NUMBER ONE thing they had to get started on right now.
"You, of course, are welcome to come there as well," he added. Yeah, the offer still stood if he wanted to sit in on meetings and stuff!

Jory grinned at Cale. "Don't worry about it. I'll find my way around.'' A good opportunity to explore, yes? Though exploration at the Ministry would have been a whole lot better.
Oh meeting! The YATI had set his mind on mingling with employees. A meeting wasn't exactly what he had thought of but it was a good place to start. "I'll join you then,'' he said to Cale. Yes. To the meeting!
Derry had arrived in London earlier that morning, and had been putting off going for her apparition test for about an hour and a half out of sheer nerves. But her dad had finally dragged her over here and pushed her towards the entrance before disappearing with a crack... Right. She had to do this.
Although, the ministry was looking odd lately. Derry could have sworn they were usually under ground somewhere, not in boats. But that wasn't the point. The point was, she needed to be able to apparate before she went away otherwise she'd never be allowed. So she walked into the ministry and up to the desk, signing in.

Then she sat down and waited, chewing her sleeve nervously.
