Hogwarts RPG Name:
Kai Daniels
Fifth Year
Default

Nervous, Kai began work on his first ever Transfiguration final.
He glanced around the room and shivered, he could see a lot of snow clumped up on the floor, and objects for use scattered around to.

How would I survive? What would I need?
A teepee, covered in linen, blankets…clothes and a fire. That's it, that's all it takes.

He set out to start work on his teepee style tent.
walking over to the trees, he took a couple of their leaves and lay them down, one by one on the floor.

"Temraaan Maderra!" he called out, swishing his wand.
The leaf twisted itself into a small wooden block, a few centimetres in length.
"Ohh…" Kai though to himself, "Reverto!" he called.
The block unravelled itself back into its leafy figure.

Come on Kai. You can do this.
"Temran Madera!" he shouted, and at once the leaf changed. In its place was a Wooden board, roughly six feet in length and a couple of feet wide, this would do!
He moved onto the next leaf, again called out "Temran Madera" and he had a pair of boards to use.

Next, Kai positioned them side by side on the floor, the total height and with was about 6ft by 6ft now, and if he hammered them together then they'd be a solid base for his teepee.

Suddenly he realised there was no need for a teepee at all. Build a proper roof, make a small hut.
He stumbled over to the far corner of the room, and picked up a few branches before taking them back to his boards.
They were damp, they left little pockets of wet dew and ivy on his hands as he put them down, which he quickly wiped on his robes. Great, now they needed cleaning.

"Palus" he called, flicking his wrist with his wand, and almost chopping his head off. He had aimed at the branch, but the spell just seemed to knock the branch upwards and towards him.

Great, now there's killer branches out there to get me.

Once again Kai tried, setting the branch down and calling "Palus" and again it flung at his face.

UGH. WHY AM I DOING THIS STUPID EXAM ANYWAYS!?
All I want is a fricken pole. ONE STUPID POLE.

A few minutes late, calm and collective, Kai was ready to try again. With his wand arm held aloft, and the other ready to protect his face - He flicked his wrist, and again uttered "Palus!". The branch diminished, in its place was a pole, only 3 foot tall, but a pole nevertheless.

This will do, it only needs to be tall enough to lie in, that's all.
Successfully he managed to transfigure another three poles, roughly the same length as each other, and all sturdy enough to hold extra boards on top of their own.

Cus he'd changed his mind on what he was making, he now needed another two boards to go on top of his poles. He set off and acquired a couple more leaves, before returning to his little pile of equipment. Almost naturally, he said "Temran Madera" and the leaf transfigured into another board, albeit a little wonky compared to his immaculate floor-boards.

This has to be perfect. no half-heartedness, he said as he called out "Reverto" and the board once again was a leaf.
"Temran Madera!", the small leaf became a heavy, strong, durable board - much alike the two he made earlier.

One last time Kai, come on! He said, turning to the final leaf… "Temran Medera". Again, the leaf became a broad, durable board with the same rough dimensions as the other he had made - clearly practice really does make perfect.

He still had a few leaves over, and knowing that he badly needed something insulate to keep in the heat, he set out in turning them into good use.
"Vestis Letrom!" He called, and the leaf shook, twisting itself outwards into a thick, blanket of leather.

Kai smiled, this was perfect, and it was his first try. Maybe he could be a greater wizard than Ryan ever was.
"Vestis Letrom!" he ordered again, and once more he was left with his blanket of leather.

He had all the basic 'ingredients' to make his little hideaway, now he just needed to put them all together.
He needed nails, and that meant having to get some worms from the soil of the potted plants.

Ugh. More dirt. Great.

An idea struck Kai like a Puking Pastille struck an off-guard stomach, and he rushed over to the plant to pick off another leaf. With a small circular flick, he ordered "Manus" and the leaf was replaced with a small set of green gloves - an equal shade of green to that which the leaf was.
Kai put them on, and began burrowing in the soil for worms.

After a few minutes, he had a small…rather disturbing pile of worms beside him. He picked them all up, and took them back over to his little segment of the room, careful not to slip on any of the ice patches along the way.

When he reached his little embankment of soon-to-be-survival-gear, he sat down and drew out his wand once more.
one by one, he picked up a worm, called "Tacque", and placed the nail down in the pile.
As soon as he'd ran out of worms, he stood up and admired his work. Kai beamed - he was so happy, and almost done. This would be perfect!

He set out his two 'floor-boards' side by side on the ground. "Malleus" he called with his wand, picked up a nail, and began hammering the two boards together. After there were four or five nails connecting the two - he bent the point ends of the nails backwards, back into the boards - wouldn't want anyone getting hurt of course.

Next, he turned the boards onto their side, so he could access the side which would inevitably be hidden on the ground, he picked up one of his poles, positioned it on the other side, and began hammering a nail through the bottom side of the board, and up into the pole, transfixing the pole to it.
He did the same with the other three poles, then put the boards back down, hammered a couple of extra nails into the poles to make sure they couldn't come lose from the boards - and then admired his sort of…upside down table?

Kai was almost done, and he knew this - as anyone could tell from the broad grin on his face.
He hammered his other two boards together, just as he had done with the first two, and placed them on top of the four pole legs, turning his upside down table into a box with no walls.
Hammering the top boards to the poles, he made sure everything was sturdy and ready.

Now he had the structure, he just needed to make it secure and warm. He threw the giant leather blanket over the top of his 'box', and began nailing it down to the wooden frame - this would keep the cold out and the heat in, he thought with a smile.
When it was done, he took the second leather blanket and did the same on the inside of the frame, making sure to nail it all in tight so it couldn't fall and…suffocate him?

Kai's hideaway was finished. Now it just needed a few home comforts…

He pulled his final leaf from his pocket, swished his wand, and uttered "Vestis Cotone", and caught the cotton blanket as it swished innocently to the ground.
He lifted the flap entrance to his hideaway up, and carefully placed the cotton blanket down on the inside.

He was almost done. He spotted another students shelter, now vacant, with some worms wriggling around outside. Walking over to them, he stood above them and quickly called out on each one, "Escarpa", "Caput", "Manus", and picked up his new conveniences.

He arrived back at his shelter, and placed the hat, scarf and gloves down on top of his small shelter. It was only a few foot high, but was still over six foot long - long enough to lie down and sleep in, which is what was needed after all.

"Focalia" he called as he pointed to a spot nearby his shelter, and the branches appeared. Unlike the ones professor had provided, these were straight and crisp dry - perfect for burning.
"Incendo" he ordered, and the branches flung alight.

Kai stepped back and looked at his creation from a distance. He smiled, it would definitely keep someone alive in style, he would quite like to stay in it himself actually.
He turned and left the classroom

One final done. Only another ten to go.
