Hogwarts RPG Name: Jeremy Bradford Fifth Year | Not sure if we should show our character completing the final, so spoiler it is :D "It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not." SPOILER!!: Professor Kingsley Quote:

Flicking his wand at the board, the instructions wrote themselves: Using the spells we learned in class, protect yourself from the elements, create shelter, and generate heat. You may also use other spells you know, but remember that you are being graded on how well you demonstrate your ability to use the spells taught. The following can be found through the room for your use:
A cluster of potted trees, sturdy enough not the bend if needed for support. You may break off twigs from their branches. Worms can also be found in their soil.
A pile of knotty, gnarled tree branches: wet
Scraps of fabric about the size of a scarf
Shoelaces
Vines Another flick of his wand to activate charms that had been placed before class, Preston changed the room, significantly. The room has been charmed to resemble outdoors in early winter. The floor is muddy and some parts are covered with snow. The air is cold and moist, as if it might rain at any moment. For safety, the room has been charmed to prevent stray fire. "You may continue your practice with temran madera and palus, at your discretion given the change in conditions, before moving onto the final. There will also be a written assignment to complete after you build your shelter that you may owl to me. Once you begin working on your shelter, please, no collaborating with others. When you have completed your final, you may leave."
ooc: Take your time moving onto the final, but please do not post practicing AND your final in the same post. You can finish your final in one post if you'd like, or you can use several. This thread (and the final) will close at 9pm EST on Sunday, November 21st (one week and one hour from right now). This portion is worth 25 points and the written (posted on the Transfiguration notice board) is worth another 15.
Alice listened to Professor Kingsley as he discussed how the final was going to watch. With amazed eyes Alice observed as Professor Kingsley made the very indoor room look like the outdoors. She knew if she didn't start with the final now, she was probably just going to stress and do worse, so she decided to begin.
With a nervous glance at the potted trees, Alice began to approach them. She figured she would need to build polls using Palus, heat using incendio, the shoelaces to hold the poles together, and the bits of fabric to make a blanket for the top of the tent and for herself. Okay...this shouldn't be too bad! SPOILER!!: Alice's final
Alice took a couple of branches off of the planted trees, grabbed a bundle of the fabric, and laid the materials down in her own little area. First thing first she needed to build a floor for her tent. Grabbing two of the branches she laid them down. "Temran Madera," Alice said, moving her wand so that it branch became a rather long and wide board. She did the same thing to the other branch until it was the same side before lying them down side by side next to each other.
Alice grabbed the scraps on fabric and set them down on the wooden boards. She closed her eyes, visualizing the size she wanted the blanket to be. Once she was sure she had a good visual, she pointed her wand at the scarf. "Vestis Vellus," Alice said, smiling as the fabric became the size she wanted it to. She picked up the blanket and spread it out along the pieces of wood. She had made it a little more squishy to make up for the wooden floor beneath it. She wasn't sure she loved the red color she had chosen, but that she figured the color wasn't that important.
She took the other piece of fabric and made something similar, only slightly smaller so that she could use it as more of a blanket for herself than something soft the lie on. She folded it and set it down on top of the other blanket.
Now to make the poles for the tent. Picking up three of the branches she casted, Palus on them, making them large enough and the same height so that she didn't have a lopsided tent. She grabbed the piece of shoelaces and pointed her wand at it. "Cordage Creatus," Alice said, the shoelace becoming a tough rope. Using the rope she tied the three ends of the poles together, creating the base structure for her tent.
She spaced the bottoms out so that they were stable before taking the last piece of fabric and transforming it into a large blanket with a more weather proof texture than her blankets inside. The blanket also had a small little hole around the top where the poles met for smoke from the fire to go through. She threw the blanket over the tent structure and smiled to see that it was standing and stable when she applied some force to it.
The last step was to create a fire as well as some gloves and a hat for herself. Alice closed her eyes and visualized a nice, sturdy pile of wood. She opened her eyes and made an "x" motion in the air. "Focalia!" Alice said, happy when the pile of wood appeared in front of her. She bent down and picked up the wood, moving it just inside of the tent. "Incendio," Alice said, setting the wood on fire.
Alice took a seat in the tent and said, "Manus Vellus," and, "Escarpa Vellus," creating a nice little pair of gloves and a hat.
"Um Professor, would you mind looking at my tent? I think I am done with it."
