Melanie really wished Materson would move. She looked up at him, but didn't quite meet his gaze as he moved to stand between Fletcher and her. Normally she would have backed off, maybe taken some deep breaths... Melanie was too angry. Instead of moving, she stood there and stared at Fletcher from behind Materson, like a cat waiting to pounce, her fists clenched involuntarily.

She may have stood there like that for a few more minutes, and eventually managed to calm herself had Fletcher not opened his mouth.

He had nerve! Melanie couldn't believe he dared to thank the groundskeeper for the cushioning charm, right then, in that moment with her standing right there. Or that he DARED to blame it on his friend. When he mentioned the other boy, Melanie gazed back at him thoughtfully.

Yeah.

She wanted to get pay back on him too, now that she realized he was involved.

Melanie glared daggers at the Slytherin. She'd thought he was nice. Pffffffft. He was never getting his handkerchief back. Nope. Melanie would transfigure it into something useful like a dartboard. Somehow. And then she would hang their pictures on it and throw sharp things! Melanie was really mad.

She knew what would make her feel better, though. "Sir," Melanie began, addressing Mr. Materson. "I feel that if I don't express my anger now, I may not get another chance. And then it will become pent up anger... Pent up anger isn't good, as I'm sure you know. Therefore, I'm sure... you will uhhhh... understand...when uhhh..."

Hopefully he would understand.

Melanie ducked swiftly around the groundskeeper to get to Fletcher. She made to tackle the boy letting out a noise that faintly resembled a warrior's battle cry.

It also could have been a very distorted "LIAR!", but you never know.
