Fletcher was still craning his neck against the edge of the hut, trying with all his might to listen in on the conversation there. A seance? he thought he heard. BRILLIANT, Salander, you start that and then I can just pop up all miraculously healed and ----
Fail.
Fletcher knew it had been too good of an idea to work, and now Salander was in there squeaking like one of Masterson's dog's chew toys. What was going on?! Were they going to look for him or feed his friend to the dog or what? Or should he just.... disappear now?! Start walking off and whistling? He needed to know what they were planning on doing so that he could plan out the best escape route to avoid them.
Turning around, Fletcher peeked up to try to see through one of the windows of the hut. Hmm. At this level all he could see was the bottom ledge of the window pane, and that would not do even for a tall manly man like himself. Grunting, Fletcher got a hold around the window pane and half-pulled himself up so that his feet were dangling and he could now see. He peered in through the pane and saw an angry Masterson, a mournful-looking Melanie, and worst of all, a slack-jawed, paralyzed-looking Salander. OH NO! He'd been petrified!
Fletcher let out a loud gasp and accidentally let go of the windowsill in surprise. He fell right into the flowerbed below the window, and while it wasn't much of a drop for a tall boy like Fletcher, it was still an unwelcome (and half-painful) fall.
"BLAST!" the boy shouted, waaaaaay too loudly to remain inconspicuous any longer. That was the second time he'd fallen today. AND IT HURT.
