It would mess up his pretty face. He turned his head slightly and followed when the quaffle was spotted. Not too close but definitely keeping his eyes peeled. He flexed his arm. It felt kinda good to be hefting a bat.
"Hmmh." Jim watched. Kinda impressed. Pretty. Kinda cute. And pretty gutsy to throw herself at the quaffle like that. Cool.
"Lets try and score against Mr. Headboy eh?" Because, he was supposed to be the man to beat and all right? Epic former Quidditch Captain no? And.... dating a certain gorgeous redhead.
Woah. Big. Holy.... Jimmy wasn't gonna get the brunt of the sudden onslaught of KILLER BOULDERS but one or two did swerve off in the direction of himself and those who happened to be playing with him. He hefted his bat and gripped his broom and SWUNG. The bat connected with one of the almost-boulders and an almighty crack resounded. The juddering up his arm wasn't entirely fun but it was also kinda.... kinda awesome. RAWR. ADRENALINE.
The next one clipped his broom and hurtled past, heading for the chaser/catchers he was supposed to be defending. Eh. Well. At least he got one.
"Watch it!" Maybe someone else would get it? Jimmy was too busy trying to right himself, broom trying to spin after that hit, and arm still aching a little from contact with that first one. Eye on the quaffle, Ivory watched it soar, hoping the Slytherin boy had heard her heads up. But if it made it or not, she didn't find out because there was the small issue of speeding rocks just itching to bludgeon her to hopelessness.
Like the one coming quickly on her right, for example. Jerking the handle up on her broom, caused her flight to become diagonal for all of two split seconds. Enough time to escape a rock to the hip it seemed.
Coasting forward, she caught the tail end of the Ravenclaw guy's suggestion. Score against the headboy?...Eh, why not? Mentally shrugging her shoulders, she quickly u-turned to give him a grin, a nod, and a salute. Just to let him know she was all for that plan.
Whoever he was, he seemed to give a aura of casual confidence and that was enough for her to deem him captain of the moment. Just not verbally, the salute was enough. Words usually inflated egos.
An ego that seemed to be there for good reason, if the way he swung at a ferocious incoming killer rock was any indication. If it hadn't been for a second rock beelining towards her like a little boy to cake, she might've even given an appreciative nod. But no, she was busy acting like a deer caught in headlights at the rock speeding her way.
Snapping out of her moment of indecision, she jerked to her right. Or so she thought.... that darn indecision had her hips angling one way and her upper body another so instead of smoothly swerving to avoid the rock, she ended up grasping at the handle of her broom as the opposing movements send her in a haphazard roll that ended with her upside down and crossing her ankles around the broom for dear life. An action that could've even looked cool had that been her intention.
Which it wasn't-which was probably why she taking quick little breaths and digging her gloved fingers into the wood as a life line. The blood rushing to her face more from being upside down then embarrassment, it took a few tries of strenuous scary swinging of her body to right herself again. When she was finally back to sitting down, she couldn't help the smile of exhilaration that was creeping up on her face. Even if she'd almost fallen off, that had still been cool.
