Hogwarts RPG Name: Jeremy Bradford Fifth Year | Chapter Ten "It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."
It felt like Transfiguration class had gone by in a breeze, as did my own personal lesson with Professor McGonagall. I had been hoping that I could actually make my hand a color this time, but it merely went transparent, my hands starting to curve a little more into the shape of feathers.
Professor McGonagall was very impressed with how well as I was doing after only my first lesson, but I was impatient and wanted the ability to transform to come about sooner. Plus I had a nagging feeling about what color my feathers might be, and I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about it.
I had quickly thrown on a sweater, pair of jeans, and a pair of sneakers before heading down the steps into the common room. I supposed being as this was my first date I should have taken a bit more time preparing myself, but my oversleeping had halted that thought in its tracks.
I saw Seamus standing by one of the tables talking to Dean, who I noticed was sitting with Ginny. The vibe I was getting from them threw me...were they becoming an item?
"Abby," Seamus said with a smile when he noticed me. He waved for me to come over to them, so I did, bending down to give Ginny a little hug.
"Are you guys heading off already?" asked Dean.
"Yeah, we were going to grab some lunch and then wander around the shops a bit," said Seamus with a smile. I nodded my head. The meeting session wasn't until three so I figured this gave us an hour for lunch and two hours or so to shop. I didn't have a ton of money, but I couldn't pass up picking up some candy from Honeyduke's.
"When are you guys heading over?" I asked, looking at Ginny with a small smile. She blushed slightly at my comment, but Dean merely shrugged.
"Relatively soon," said Dean. "I am assuming we will be seeing you later?" Dean asked me, with his eyebrows raised.
"Of course," I said. "Well, let's get going," I said to Seamus, giving him a little nudge before waving goodbye to Ginny. You better not tell Dean! Ginny screamed in her thoughts at my back. I stifled a laugh...of course I wouldn't tell Dean because Dean already knew and was feeling just about the same way as her.
"So do you want to get some lunch at the Three Broomsticks? I could go for some butter beer," said Seamus, smiling contentedly.
"Yeah, that sounds great," I said with a smile.
The way to Hogsmeade went smoothly, Seamus and I have the usual small chat people usually have on their first date, when they are uncertain as to what conversation is okay and what conversation would be awkward. As we entered the main street I was glad that I had worn the sweater. It wasn't freezing cold, but it was definitely chilly, and in a tee-shirt I would have been an instant ice sickle.
"There's the Three Broomsticks and it doesn't look too crowded," said Seamus, pointing towards it, before taking my hand and guiding us over to the entrance. Again I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the feel of Seamus' hand. I guess it's funny how you don't realize an attraction towards a person until they point out their attraction towards you.
I was looking for a place to sit as Seamus went up to order us drinks and food, when I rammed straight into someone's back.
"Oh, I am so sorry!" I said to the person. I stopped and laughed when the person turned around and I saw it was Harry.
"It's okay," said Harry with a smile. "I thought you were eating with Seamus?" said Harry, looking around the area to try and spot him.
"Oh, I am. He is just getting food while I try and find a place to sit. Where are Ron and Hermione?"
"They went to the Hogs Head to set things up," said Harry with a shrug.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Four hours early?"
Harry gave me an eye roll. "I figured Ron was looking for some alone time with her, and he wasn't man enough to ask her on a date, so I just let them go with it, you know?"
I nodded in understanding. "He still isn't sure that the feelings he has for her mean what we know they mean."
"Yeah," said Harry shaking his head. "I don't think it could be more obvious."
"No, and I don't think it will actually happen until Hermione says it out loud for him to hear," I said, shaking my head as well.
We were silent for a couple of moments, my eyes wandering until I spotted Cho Chang sitting at a table by herself. She was eyeing Harry and I's conversation, wondering why he wasn't coming over to chat with her.
"Um...Cho looks kind of lonely," I said, discreetly cocking my head in her direction.
Harry subtly looked over and saw her there, before turning and looking back at me.
"I won't be mad, I mean, I am on a date with Seamus," I said with a small shrug.
Harry smiled nervously. "Yeah, I just wanted to make sure."
"Go," I said, giving him a sturdy shove in her direction. I watched Harry go over to her, their small chat as she insisted she didn't mind him joining her at all, and his body slinking into the chair across from her.
I felt the sting of jealousy creeping in, but I shoved it off. We were living our own lives now, remember?
"Hey, did you find somewhere to sit?" asked Seamus, as he walked towards me, skillfully juggling the drinks and baskets of food.
"I think there's a nice little booth in the corner," I said, pointing to the empty booth.
"Great," said Seamus with a smile, his eyes landing on Cho and Harry.
"It's alright," I said with a smile. "I'm not here with Harry, I'm here with you, so let's go sit down."
Seamus relaxed and lead the way over to the booth, setting the food down so we were next to each other. We ate our food and discussed school and the random gossip that was going around (me disproving some of it from the occasional thought that went through my head).
"Abby I want to do something and if you're not okay with it, you can stop me."
I looked at him, my heart rate picking up as the thought flashed through my mind. Seamus shifted himself so that I could only see him before leaning forward. I closed my eyes and felt my body relax as his lips made contact with mine. I was surprised to feel how smooth they were.
Seamus reached a hand up and placed it gently on the side of my face, before slightly opening my mouth with his lips. I reached up with my hand and held gently onto his wrist.
It was my first kiss and it was perfect.
