Jermaine wasn't expecting to get hit with the object from under the plant. He had only put his shield up to protect himself from flying spikes. Good thing he did put it up though.
After lowering his shield he bends over to pick up the key. Noting that it is rusted though he tears a piece of his shirt off and picks the key up with that. He is not about to get rust in any of his open wounds... not that he hasn't gotten plenty of dirt and yuck in them already. But why intentionally get rust in them right.
With key in hand he goes back to the door, puts the key in the padlock and prays it will open. "S'il vous plaƮt ouverte." (Please open)
The key clicks in the lock, removing the last obstacle in your path.
Behind the door is a steep, empty corridor, well lit from light streaming in from an opening at the end.
If you take a deep breath, you'll smell something you haven't since you entered the cave. Fresh air.
