ZOMG. CEDRIC. WHY.

Raiden stared at the Hufflepuff prefect, his eyes wide in surprise. Whyyyy would he ask such a question, or at least phrase it in such a way?! The Slytherin's face paled a shade, and it took him a moment to find his tongue to answer.

"You're-" His voice sounded funny; he coughed, clearing his throat before continuing. "You're looking at it all wrong. At least, that's not the way I see it. All the Champions are capable people... We're putting one foot forward, yeah, but into unfamiliar territory. Doesn't necessarily have to be a grave. There's gonna be challenges, but we knew that going in..."

He'd already had one foot in the grave. Didn't need to go back to that, thank you.

The first person to answer her question was the Slytherin from Hogwarts. She stepped down from her chair and walked over to him. She nodded at the little Asian boy. Well he was taller than her anyways. "Does it give you pause as you enter this tournament knowing that your parents might not be rooting for you?" she asked softly. She didn't want to embarrass the boy.
Ahhhhh. So that was why she'd been on the chair... the lady was small. Exceptionally small next to Raiden, who was rather tall. Heh. When she approached him, he turned his focus to her, listening intently to her question.

"'s not so much that he's not rooting for me, as he..." Hrrrrrm. "Well he wishes I wouldn't put myself in such situations. He thinks it's reckless self-endangerment. But I do think he supports me, now that I'm in it. He's just worried. I guess most every parent would be."

He didn't bother to mention his mum again. She didn't know, and if he had his way, she would continue to not know. It wasn't any of her business anyway.

"If he were here, he'd cheer for me. Probably between loudly swearing me out for being an idiot, but he'd cheer."

It was almost... funny? Cute? How Miles was reacting to Fletcher eyeing up Fia. Raiden grinned and put a hand on the guy's shoulder.

"Don't let him bug you, man. Fia is really pretty... so long as he doesn't try anything or look too hard, just ignore him." He glanced at Fia. "And she'd probably tell him off if he made a move anyway."

Speaking of Fia... Raiden turned his attention to her and immediately started feeling like the idiot his father currently thought he was.

"I... yeah. Kinda? It's a long story. I'm kinda making up for not having been able to do anything even remotely exciting as a kid." His ears turned red. "That, and I'm obviously not as intelligent as people think."

He'd put his name in a cup full of fire and gotten himself contracted into a Tournament that could potentially end with him dying.

"They've not really told us anything at all." Miles had told him 'dragons', but that didn't really count... seeing as it had been Miles, and not an official announcement for the tournament. "We're kinda going into this a bit blind right now... I dunno if they plan to tell us anything or not."
