Ari gave a wide grin as he clapped, and bowed her head for just a moment, "Thank you very much. I, uh...I taught myself to play when I was nine." She then angled her head back towards him--the illusion of looking usually made people more comfortable. Oh. He'd seen her in the great hall. She blushed just a bit, "Yes. Yes I did. Even though I had spent the previous few days trying to talk myself down from it, I ended up putting my name in anyways."
Then, while still focused on the boy, someone else had joined them in the corridor. The girl probably didn't even notice them, but Ari could hear her singing and recognized the song she was singing.
She reached down into her lap, picked up the bow, and quietly played the same song--Loud enough for her to hear, but quiet enough for her to still be able to talk to the boy. To be honest, it sounded a bit spooky, played so clearly yet quietly. Ah, well. Ari liked the song, too.
"You taught yourself to play? At nine? Wow. Thats really.... wow!" Salander replied in awe. He leaned against the wall and chuckled
"My dad tried teaching me to play the piano when I was about that age. I never got beyond doing the scales and playing the Chopsticks."
Of course the one instrument Salander always wanted to learn to play were the drums. Which his classically trained father never approved of -- at any age. Boo.
Realizing that he was once again being the Great Interrupter, he pushed himself off the wall and introduce himself
"Sorry, didnt mean to crash into your private time here.... uhm, I'm Salander by the way. " he said as he began to hold out his hand, but then caught himself.
She's wearing shades dummy. he kicked himself silently. Instead he gave a small wave. Duh.
So it
was her at the Goblet.
"That's a really brave thing you did." he said barely concealing the admiration in his voice.
"I mean who cares if neither of us got chosen? You actually got up there despite your doubts and actually went ahead and put your name in. Truth to be told, you've got more guts than most people I know." And for a guy like Salander, that counts a lot on his book.
