As pleased with himself as he was, Fletcher certainly did not notice Neptune's sudden change in tone. "Oh yeah," he told her quite pleasantly, still rocking on his heels. "We had a little run-in on the seventh floor and I told him what you told me to tell him. Mostly. I don't remember it exactly....."
He trailed off and his grin slightly faded as he caught that Weird Woman Vibe emanating from Neptune now. "You know... it was just that stuff about paying more attention to you and not be such a dumbclaw and jerk....."

Fletcher's flattery? It was going to get him places. And his subtle reminder that he was a Champion did not get missed. So didn't. Neptune's head tilted to the side, sending her curls rushing avalanche-style off her shoulder.
She considered her flowers - HER FLOWERS - a few moments before, letting Fletcher get a good look at her lashes. He WAS looking, no doubt.
"Well... that IS what I said... and that IS true. He SHOULD!" Neptune stomped her foot, punctuating the thought and clearly making it more true. "Even you do a better job than him." Not ... exactly ... a compliment or cutdown. Simple fact.
