Although it would have been better to have the actual person, the imagination of her voice would have to do.
Finishing, she blinked to rid herself of the tears falling, and moved over to where Lori was sitting. Throwing her arms around her, Sarah sobbed too and nodded when her friend spoke. "Me too." Wiping her nose on her tissue again, she studied the last line of the letter, her mind racing.... "Yes. I hope the house elves haven't moved them...Wesley has to be told, she has one too, she needs to see it. We should...go now? Lessons don't start yet, we can put them away, and come back in our break to open them?" It seemed like a good idea. But how she would concentrate in class when all she wanted to do was be in that very room, opening her gift, she didn't know.
Standing up, Sarah folded the letter and placed it back in the envelope. Stretching out a hand for Lori to take, she smiled gently. "Come on, lets go search. We can come back. Later." This letter wasn't fun. It was lovely, lovely to hear Miranda's words, and know how things were for her. But it wasn't fun. No. It was sad, and depressing. And Lorelai wanted nothing more than to just get up and go, before Sarah had even finished reading the first paragraph. Why? She had no idea, but she wasn't good with this emotional stuff, she figured.
But she stayed. Stayed put in her seat, and closed her eyes tight, clinging tighter around her teddy bear, digging her nails into it, possibly breaking through into the stuffing. Oh.
As Sarah came and sat next to her, Lori cried some more, turning to her side so she could lean on Sarah instead of hug her. She couldn't do to Sarah what she was doing to the poor teddy bear, and therefore thought it better to squish!squish him. "Y... Break. Sure.... After the... thing..?" The thing? Oh. Lorelai. Biting at her inner lip, Lori rubbed at her eyes. She didn't know what the 'thing' was, but she was sure there was something they had to do before, anyway. Preparation, Lori would use it as. Preparation for looking at this present.
Mmm. Fine. Erk. Slowly releasing her teddy bear with one hand, Lori took Sarah's hand, and pushed herself up, so she stood properly. She didn't want her shoes anymore. They could stay here. They were broken anyway. She didn't mind excessively. She had enough matching pairs of them. "Okay...." Yes. Let's go. On some sort of bloody treasure hunt.
