AWESOMEEEEEEEE.

"I'll buy you a case of firewhiskey, all right, when I win. Somebody's gotta cheer me on, I mean, I'm probably the biggest unknown in this tournament." Fletcher took another big bite of sandwich and looked thoughtful as he chewed. The other Hogwarts champions were all Prefects and Seventh Years, so they probably knew a ton of people. And the foreigners... well there were only a few of them, so obviously they stood out.

And then there was Fletcher, just Fletcher. There were certain advantages to being the dark horse, he supposed.

"O'course I'm confident." He puffed out his chest a bit and winked at the 'Claw girl. You know, as Champions and Famous People do. "Fear not, m'lady. I'm certain I won't allow myself to die. I got too much to live for."

He shook Salander's shoulder as an example. "After all, wouldn't want this guy to not get his firewhiskey. Or his galleons he's going to wager on me." Cuz duh, who wouldn't bet for Fletcher?

She caught herself speaking out of context and drew in a long breath looking upways to gather her thoughts before again directing her attention to the girl called Grayson. "Weeell, what I mean is, it's a family name." There. Now we're makin' sense.
"What about your name? I've never heard it before now and not to offend you, but if I had heard the name Grayson being called out in the corridors I would think that it might be a boy student. Maybe that's a good thing, though. You won't have people thinking you're too girly for anything." She stopped herself when she realized she was babbling and froze at the mention of what must've been the boys name. Salander. Haughtine wondered what possible meaning his name could have and was starting to worry that if she didn't meet some Sams, or Sarahs, or Micheals soon, she was going to forget who everyone was by the end of the week.
A slight grin crossed Grayson's face as she figured Duncan Fletcher had somewhat misunderstood what she'd said. Entirely. But the wink was funny, and oddly intriguing, and a whole lot of other things that she was still getting used to. "Obviously you're confident. I mean, I can't see how anyone could think anything else," she said with a little laugh. "And I never said I would fear any of it. I just said that I thought Headmaster Tate wouldn't let anyone die. You wouldn't have been chosen if you couldn't handle it." Anyone who knew anything about the tournament knew that. Beyond the whole incident with Harry, but even then he'd managed to get through everything. Even though he'd been not much older than her. Actually, a bit younger. And she turned a bemused gaze onto Salander as the firewhiskey was brought up again. "No, wouldn't want that."

Oh, and little Haughtine was speaking to her again. Grayson returned her attention to the little firstie (little being relative, as there can't have been a lot of height difference) and smiled. "Sure. Family name," she said vaguely, with a little nod. She wasn't exactly sure where Northumberland fit into any of it, and she still just thought it was a pretty name. Unique. And then her little annoyance decided to pop up again, but she let Haughtine go on it as she'd at least sort of apologized. "I know. I get that all the time, and trust me, it's annoying. But I think my name fits me. Sorta. I just see it as different. Special, y'know?" She stopped her discussion as a weird look crossed the younger girl's face, and started wondering what exactly was going on. That looked worried. Maybe she'd caught the conversation about Fletcher dying in the tournament or something. She didn't know what, but now the other girl was talking to Fletcher, so she lapsed into silence. She still didn't know why everyone was getting all worried about dragons. And getting maimed, everything else that had been tossed around. Nobody had any faith that they'd survive, apparently, and Grayson wondered if somehow she was more equipped than any of the chosen champions.
