Griiiiiiiin. Raiden did his best to not look amused when Nia's face flooded with colour. She really was very cute when she did that.
"Loads of pretty girls, yes. But there's always one that outdoes the rest." He leaned toward her. "There's always a 'prettiest' girl."
Whether she had been the prettiest to everyone was unknown. But she was definitely right up top on Raiden's list, especially considering Emmalee hadn't been at the ball. And people would have been really silly to look at Nia and not think her pretty.
"Well... definitely not stupid, I can say that much," he murmured without hesitation. "Confident. Strong, you do play quidditch after all... Terribly distracting. Bit stubborn, it seems, too."
Her touching her hair made him pay attention to it again; it had been a vast change from last term. He'd actually had to take a minute, the first time he saw her, to make sure it was her. But it was, and no matter the reason for her chopping it off, it looked nice. A bit more grown up.
"For me, it was more a case of going against it," he said, smiling. "Much as I wanted to do things, it didn't want me to. Got over that though, at least." He looked at her, one eyebrow raised. "Would you go easy on me?"
Would he even let her if she did say yes? Heh.
It wasn't difficult to imagine Nia being hard on Vindictus at all. Were he one whose life was heavily influenced by the Quidditch schedule, he'd probably be more than upset at its cancellation. Especially with it being Nia's last year; the pro leagues liked to look at Hogwarts kids, didn't they?
"Just try to leave his hut standing, and I'm sure it'll be fine," he joked lightly. "Tate is... a good Headmaster. He'd hear you out."
And then probably give her a reason for saying no, but that was just how Tate was.
Heh. Raiden's lips twitched as a grin triiiiiied to rise to them, but he managed to keep it down.
"Different looks, different meanings." He got pity, she got pretty, basically. |
