Even though it might hurt Jimbo emotionally... Because she didn't know if she'd actually do the thing that she'd say to try and get him down from where ever he's hiding.
"Leilani, look!" She whispered, looking at the top of a ginormous portrait. Now, she was pretty sure that Tate didn't choose to have stuffed, green budgies decorating the portrait frames. She looked to Leilani, deciding that it was worth a try. If it didn't get the bird down... then they'd have to Accio him down.
Taking a few steps towards the painting, looking up at Jimbo. She'd already gone a little pink around her cheeks. "Jiiiimbo... PLEASE just come down and stop being awkward. We need to take you to a professor so you can be changed back."
Iris eyed the bird pleadingly. Hmmm. Now, she couldn't JUST use that excuse... Even though it would work. No... Iris needed to use other things and make it seem more... surruptitious. "But okay. You stay there if you want to." She wasn't going to force him to come down. She was going to convince him.
"But just think. little birds can't eat candy, or sweets. Birds can't go and walk Pebbles the turtle. IF you chose to stay there being awkward, then you'd always be a bird," Okay... now Iris was blushing beautifully now, and she'd not even said it out loud, "And I'd never be able to kiss you if I wanted to."
Iris turned and glanced at Leilani and muttered, "Don't ask about the... uh. Yeah.... but feel free to add to this list. We need to convince him to come with us." Because she was facing away from the bird, and because she was talking quietly, Birdy!Jimbo shouldn't be able to hear her...
Looking back to Birdy!Jimbo, Iris smiled, still a little pink. She really couldn't believe that she'd said that out loud. It was really quite mean on Jimbo's part.... 'Specially with the stuff that went on in the Common Room the day before. But if it got him to come down, then it would be worth it... "You wouldn't be able to make and eat cupcakes, either." she added, just for good measure. Quote:

She followed Iris' finger and saw that he was up at the top of a portrait. Oh yeah, there was absolutely no way her height was going to be any help now. But then Monty started listing off things he wouldn't be able to do as a bird. Oh so this was her master plan. Hehe.
Wait, whaaaa?! Kiss Jimbo?! She had to stop her mouth from falling open while she thought. Ooooooh, was that why they'd been acting funny? Oh yeah, didn't she just feel special now?
Leilani attempted to ignore the comment and assisted Iris in naming things off. "And you can't ride a bike, or talk to people. You'll just have to make little chirping sounds to other birds who probobly won't underdstand you 'cuz you aren't a real bird." Oh yeah, how was that for reasoning? "And you'll never have a girlfriend or pull any more pranks, and I'll just have to go set off a box of firecrackers in the transfiguration classroom all by myself." She hadn't actually been planning on that, but it was starting to sound like a good idea.
Lani turned her back to Jimbo!birdy and walked around herself in circles. Hehe, wheeee!!! *serious face* Ooooh, what were they going to do if he didn't come doooooown?!?! GASP! They were coming after him! He could hear them. He hesitated, trying to figure out how far they were and whether he'd have time to find another hiding spot. But before he could do anything the giants were in front of him. O_o
Did they see him? He stayed still, trying to blend in, but then they spotted him!!!!

Changed back? What are they talking about? Changed back to what? He was a BIRD. And they were giants trying to hurt him. Bird!Jimbo didn't believe them one bit. They wanted to hurt him. He was going to stay put, yes. Besides, Bird!Jimbo wasn't interested in turtles and candy. Bird!Jimbo liked seeds and soaring, yes. Their tactics didn't work on the birdie, nope. Their threats were aimed toward the wrong audience. All they wanted to do was hurt him.

Kiss? See, if he was just JIMBO, he might've cared. But as BIRD!Jimbo, only cares for staying safe from giants and finding food. Worms and such.
Wait, did the tiny giant just say that he wasn't a real bird? No, no, no! That can't be! He IS a bird! They're trying to TRICK him! He didn't like tricks, no! Tricks came from giants that are trying to lure tiny birdies so they could hurt them before they get EATEN or..turned into...furniture. Or something. He didn't really know what they did to birds, but he knew it hurt. And he didn't want to get hurt.
Soaring down to the both of them, the green bird was quick in his attack. He pecked the tiny giant and then went over to the golden hair and picked some up in his beak before flying off and tearing the hair out.
How do you like THAT giants?
The tiny bird flew up to the ceiling, strands of hair still hanging from it's beak. They couldn't reach him up there.
