A smile. Some reassuring words. Another smile. Pam passed Liz's test.
"Okay, if you're sure," she said, still watching for a reaction. None. Second test: passed.
She opened up her book and soaked in everything. Wow, it was all really interesting. The records broken, the smart hints, the cheaters, the... death. Yep, Liz was glad she had not given this one to Pam.
"Okay, so there is some death, but it is avoided at ALL costs. They design the trials so that people don't die," but come close to it,
"they all die out of their own stupidity," that and fire-breathing dragons,
"Nothing to worry about," Probably. Once again, Liz looked Pam over, ready to abandon her book and run to the dormitory as soon as half a tear sprung.
