Rolling off, he grabs his knee, and kicks Jacob's legs over "WHAT'S YER PROBLEM!" he shouts. All he'd hoped for is to just talk to Ellie and now he'd been attacked. What the heck! Ready to pounce again if the kid did anything else, he moves his leg wincing as he did so he couldn't bend his knee.
His fists balling up, he was ready if the kid tried anything again. It took a few seconds for what happened next to register in Vashti's mind. Jacob had NOT just tackled JD out of nowhere, had he? Surely she was imagining this. But after a few seconds had passed and it was still happening, she realized that this really was happening. Boys! They were nuts!
Acting on the first thing that came to mind, Vashti drew her wand and yelled, "Protego!" She wasn't extremely skilled with Shield Charms yet, but she could sometimes cast a competent one, and she really, really hoped tonight was one of those times.
