Here's the new post, guys!

With May came a bit of drama, I guess you could say. Harry and Malfoy had a go at each other and Malfoy ended up almost dying. Dumbledore talked to Emily quite often about her mission. On one evening, he went as far as to give her a few gifts that she would need. He gave her one of his Putter-outers, also known as a Deluminator. He was leaving Ron the other one. He told her of how it works and how to use it. He gave her a few books on different spells and Transfiguration for her to read and keep. He also gave her a book about different wounds and how to treat them, including curses.

Emily felt like she was ready in one sense, but in another, she had no idea what she was getting into. She was scared, worried, and lonely. Scared because she didn’t know what the outcome of it all would be. She’s worried because she isn’t sure if she can really make a difference in this war. And she’s lonely because she can’t tell a soul, not even her husband. George picked up on her gloomy mood sometimes, but she always put it off as a reaction to school work and stress.

After Gryffindor won the Quidditch Cup and Harry kissed Ginny, Emily started feeling less worried. She was happy that Harry and Ginny were happy too, and together. Emily always believed that a little more love was needed in the world, so for them to be experiencing it together was all the better.

June arrived with more devastations than ever. Emily had been with George and Fred when it happened. They were talking, laughing, joking—just having a good time. The trio was home, in their living room with a round of Butterbeers. They had a game of Exploding Snap going on in the wee hours of the morning. It was around six o’clock when they got a visit from Lupin and Tonks. Emily opened the door for them with a big grin plastered on her face, looking from one to the other.

she asked as she studied their expressions, her smile faltering. George and Fred appeared behind her as they all looked towards the two with anxious expressions.

“Let’s sit in the living room,” Remus murmured quietly as he led them all to the living room. Remus and Tonks sat on the couch as Emily sat in George’s lap in one of the armchairs. Fred took the other chair.

“Remus, Tonks, you both look horrible. What’s happened?” Emily asked again. George squeezed her hand.

“Death Eaters,” Tonks said quietly as she looked at a spot on her knee. Emily gasped and Fred and George both took in a deep breath.

“Was anybody hurt badly?” Fred asked quietly.

Neither Tonks nor Remus answered right away. Remus nodded slightly as a tear escaped Tonks’ eye. “Bill…” Remus started. Fred and George’s eyes snapped up as Emily’s hand went to her mouth. “He’s fine,” Remus rushed on. “He’s in bad shape after Greyback, but he’ll be fine. He wasn’t bitten so he won’t be a full werewolf. But there’s no telling what kind of characteristics he’ll have.” Fred and George nodded gravely. Emily squeezed George’s fingertips.

“Anybody else?” Emily asked quietly.

“Er,” Remus hesitated.

“What else, Remus?” Emily asked as she watched him bury his face in his hands. She knew that she was about to hear the news.

“Dumbledore…” Remus choked out.

“Dumbl… Is he going to be okay?” Fred asked.

Tonks’ tears came more frequently now. “He’s dead,” Remus whispered as his own tear made its way down his cheek.

Emily shook her head quickly. “No, there’s been a mistake—He couldn’t have—He’s not…”

Emily’ tears flooded down her pale cheeks, dropping on top of her and George’s intertwined fingers. She knew that it was coming. It had been partly planned after all. She didn’t need to ask who had done it; she already knew. Yet, even with all of the preparations and the good-byes she had already said, it still hurt the same. Emily turned her head into George’s chest as he held her tightly, his face buried in her hair. Tonks did the same with Remus, crying into his shoulder. Fred’s head was buried in his hands. They all sat in silence as they remembered the brilliant man with the bespectacled glasses.

The funeral was held on all too beautiful day. Emily felt like it should be raining a terrible storm for what they had lost. She thought about her mission and her promise as she, George, and Fred took their seats next to Remus and Tonks. She smiled slightly as she looked at their intertwined fingers in his lap. She sat next to him and grabbed his other hand. George occupied her other hand with his.

Emily recognized a lot of the Order members—Mad-Eye Moody, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. Bill and Fleur sat behind them as others filled in around them. She wasn’t too keen when Umbridge walked past her to take a seat, her ugly, black bow in her hair.

They sat quietly as the Minister, in his plain black robes, came to the front, by Dumbledore’s white tomb, and started to speak. She got lost in the moment, barely listening to what the Minister was saying. She stared at the white tomb with teary eyes. She promised to keep many people safe. She promised she would help Snape. She promised him, and, no matter what, she was keeping that promise.
