"Really?" Nia questioned with a raised eyebrow. Since joining him she'd noticed several others nearby that he'd been talking to. That was quite apart from all the Slytherins and people from lessons. "I'd be tempted to disagree," she said with a definite nod and glance round the room. He probably knew it too. Ever the modest one. "I'm the unknown one around here." Except from her 'Claw teamies. Mayyybe she should have said something at breakfast to Ellie or JD, for a bit of moral support when she started doubting her spontaneity. She really needed to owl Becca with the latest updates too, as she'd promised.

She fiddled with a small stud earring in the shape of a spiral, turning it between her fingers. "It does, it does," she murmured, momentarily lost in thought about the type of magic involved. What would it decide about her? She watched the flames as others put their names in. "It weird that what one might think of as an inanimate object will seal our fate." Or in Nia's case, make the decision of whether her term would be as exciting as trying to win the Quidditch Cup.

"It was?" Nia said, tilting her head to the side and intrigued by his words and laugh. Her fringe fell across her face, and she neatly tucked it behind her ear as she finally stopping playing with her earring. It sounded like there was another meaning in those words, and she looked slightly puzzled. Was he testing her with a riddle? She was good with practical thinking and logic, but she wasn't exactly Sherlock Holmes.

"I'm guessing something medical?" she asked softly. It probably wasn't her place to ask, especially something personal like one's health. "It good you've had the choice. And even better you decided to grab it," she said with a grin. "The worse bit is just going to be in the waiting."
When the conversation went off about pompoms and the like, Raiden very quietly tuned out. It really wasn't his fault. He just... was not interested in pompoms, talking or not. They weren't that engaging and he wasn't considering shaking any around. Sorry Kellen Stern.

"You're being difficult," he chided playfully, crossing his arms. "People know who you are. I know who you are."

He said this like it really mattered, which... it did. At least to him.

His eyes turned to the Goblet again, and he bit the his lip again. The way she put it... Merlin, that sounded a bit terrifying. "Inanimate objects have done stranger things, I guess. I dunno. It's... weird and a bit scary, when you put it like that."

Mmmm. The adrenaline thing. Raiden nodded and tapped his chest, as if this was all that was needed to explain it. For a handful of people, it would have been, but... well. Not many people knew about it, did they. Especially since it wasn't a real problem anymore...

"My heart. When I was born, there were... a lot of problems with it. For a long time, I couldn't handle a lot of stuff... being surprised, being scared, stuff like that." Half-smiling, he shrugged and wrinkled his nose. "It was like, to the point where I could have died from it. But over the past few years, it's gotten a lot better. They told me it's not even a problem anymore."

He gestured to the Goblet.

"Obviously it's not, I mean I put my name in there didn't I. But my mum was even against me trying out Quidditch, because of it." He was probably oversharing, and there was a belated thought that she was probably going to look at him funny over it, but he hadn't thought about that. "I think I can handle waiting. As long as it's not for too long."

Pause.

He leaned closer to her.

"Don't tell anyone about that?" Not that it would be a bad thing for people to know, and Merlin knew it might be common knowledge for some. But he didn't need the whole 'Raiden could have died without being an idiot' thing going around.
