Because nobody ever mentioned that. And if he got in trouble, so what? The curiousity really was eating him up. Though he only stared now, eventually if he stood here long enough the curiousity would be too much to bear and he'd walk right into the forbidden area.
Then he started thinking about whether he would put his name in if he were actually eligible. Well, he is crazy, isn't he? There was no doubt about it, were he of age he would put his name in there happily. After all, it's a load of fun with lots of risk and a great prize. Win/win situation, no? Well, to Jimbo it is. Sounds like fun.
Okay, he'd stood watching long enough. Looking around to see if there were any teachers - not that it would stop him - he walked right up to the age line and crossed the thing.

GAH. Jimbo was SO stupid. It was his fault she was in this dialemma. Had it been any other student, Iris wouldn't have had any trouble going and getting that teacher.
Maybe if she could just ... kinda catch the teachers attention without making Jimbo realise. Yeah... that would probably work.
OOH. Oooor, "Hello Professor!" Iris called. Hehehe. She looked to Jimbo, with a look that was half apologetic, half 'well it's your own fault.' The silly boy shouldn't have crossed the Age Line.

Maya's eyes landed on the girl who was calling for a Professor. She knew there were none here besides her -- so, off she went. Pushing herself off the wall she was leaning against, she spotted the boy who had crossed the Age Line, guessing that was why she was called.
Ay. Didn't they
understand...?
With narrowed eyes, she stormed right past the Slytherin Prefect, over to the boy and reached out a hand and grabbed him by the back of his robes.
With a strong pull, she forced him to move away from the goblet.
"Do you want to die?!" She was not happy. Not happy at all.
