She was as much in the dark as everyone else, until she had a chance to go and see her head of house.
She twiddled her thumbs until the table, before looking back up at Ellie.
"Rubbish, isn't it?" she said, glancing out from under the fringe that had fallen across her eyes.
"And no, I didn't know..." she answered, before Ellie had the chance to question that. She did glance down at her Prefect badge once more though.
...and then she felt a tap on her shoulder.
Looking up, Nia couldn't help but grin, despite the Quidditch news. "Yayness...awesome job!" Even if Nia had totally expected him to be a 'Claw. He just had that aura about him in the bookshop.
"May I offer you a proper and warm welcome to the bestest house," Nia said with a wink. "With an awesome Common Room." She gave a little nod. "Aaand, a pretty nice Prefect." And with that, she chuckled.

Okay, so Max still hadn't even been entirely sure that he would try out for the team, but the sudden news that there would be zero Quidditch at all brought his spirits down. The tournament was cool and all, surely, but... it wasn't the same. Bummer.
As he glanced around to see how everyone else was taking the news, Max noticed Ellie walk by and arrive near Nia. Since they were the only people he knew and he was currently surrounded by strangers, Max stood up and headed down to the older girls. "Hey," he began, tapping Nia's shoulder to get her attention. He stood there with an awkward, shy grin before continuing. "Guess what! I'm a Ravenclaw!"
He was pumped.
Wibble! Ellie wibbled and sniffled. This was very unchararistic of her, but this was BIG. And... she didn't know?
Ellie glanced up at Max for a second, flashed him a smile of a non-verbal congratulations and hello, and turned her attention back to Nia.
"You must have known something! Didn't they tell you you couldn't-" Captain. She was going to say 'captain', but this was the point the badge had finally caught her eye.
Her jaw dropped. Literally, she was speechless. For a whole 5 seconds, maybe.
"They gave you THAT?!" She lifted a finger up to point at the badge.
"You must have known then! Didn't they tell you why you weren't captaining?" She glanced up at Vindictus, then the headmaster, then their head of house agian. It just alllll made no sense. Of course, she was verryyyy happy for Nia being a prefect and all. And she'd let her know. Once she got over this initial shock.
