Heather gulped. Her name was called out and she knew she had to go up there, sit on the stool and put the hat on, simple as that. But it wasn't the fact that she'd get sorted that drove her crazily nervous. It was the hundred pairs of eyes staring and watching her every step, every move, also anticipating which house she would be sorted in.
the girl managed to not trip on her way to the stool, and though shaking, she sighed in relief and sat down. the hat was plopped down on her head, which slid down so that it covered her eyes. she didn't mind how small she was and how awkward it may have been, but she was glad she wasn't seeing the crowd staring back at her and she felt relieved.
then a voice spoke in her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
"hmmm...interesting...a very nervous one, i daresay, and neither fearful or brave...a really shy one...but you posses loyalty, humility and politeness. admirable, traits..admirable traits..." the hat said and heather shut her eyes tight, wishing the hat would get this over with and tell her which house she is in. anything would be nice, just pick up the pace, please...
the hat spoke again. "oh, but you posses as well, a yearning to prove yourself...i expect you'd do well in this house and learn much from it...well then..."
'what? is the hat going to wrap things up and tell me now?' heather thought, clenching her fists in anticipation to hear which house she was destined for. the same as her parents? or not?
......"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted and heather snapped out of her thoughts and almost stumbled off the stool. if tha hat on her head had not been covering half her face, everyone in the hall would see her complete face which had a huge smile plastered all over it.
'All right!' she was screaming in her head. 'mom and dad'll be so proud!!' she thought as she headed for the gryffindor table.
