What was it with extraordinarily YOUNG girls... like pre-teens and wanting makeup?! It wouldn't help them. They were too young for it to have any effect. And too young for them to even KNOW what to do with it.

"Hair growing product, yes. Top shelf. With the rest of the hair products over toward the second aisle," David pointed casually, debating on what to say on the other product she requested. "Makeup... I'm afraid you'll have to wait a few years, though." Truth. There was no way he would be caught selling makeup to an ELEVEN year old and getting into trouble with the kids' parents.

And he just had to be a really cute guy for her to look an utter mess. And she sneezed in his face. She smiled sheepishly at him as he poured her a glass of water and handed it to her. "Thank you," she accepted the glass and downed it one gulp. "I was actually looking for something if you have time to help me. If you're busy I completely understand." she handed him back the glass.
UGH! Gross sprays of Snot!water covered his face and shirt! At least though, she had the courtesy to offer him a tissue. Taking one, he wiped it off, but knew it was no use and he would need a shower to feel completely clean. Customer service though, right? Smiling ... albeit falsely ... he nodded sympathetically. "Oh it's really no worries. You'll be fine." He won't be the same nor will he ever think of HER the same. "You're welcome though and please, I'm here to help. But I can't help you find something unless you tell me what it is you're looking for..." Wink, wink.

Why did it have to be the cute guy shopkeeper? That just made the situation all the more stressful for the girl. Melanie wasn't rude though... for the most part. And it would be rude to ask him if he could go get the other shopkeeper. She was pretty sure of that.

"You swear you won't laugh?" Melanie asked, very much serious, with her hand still over her face. She didn't know she was being over dramatic. Melanie was merely acting the way she saw people act on TV and in movies when they got pimples.

This was clearly a crisis.
Noting the girl's embarrassment, David instantly went into concerned and sensitive mode. The kind that won girl's hearts over... and made them swoon. The kind that ultimately would break their hearts in just a few days, when they realized he was only faking interest. That he was waiting for 'the one' and they weren't it.

"Swearing is not in my nature," David mused, at the girl, but then shook his head. "But go on. If I laugh, it won't be because of you, but rather because of the penguin that will have just walked into the store at the precise moment you tell me the problem." Cue flirtatious smile.
