Here's the next post.
Dinner arrived and as soon as they walked into the kitchen of the Burrow, Mrs. Weasley gave them both huge hugs, apologizing over and over. She told them that it was their lives and their choice. George thankfully didn’t say anything rude, hugged his mother, and told her he loved her. Tonks stayed for about a minute with her mousy, brown hair and sad, heart shaped face. Emily was worried about her, but she didn’t have time to talk to her because she ran off as soon as Remus walked into the room.
Emily gave him a hard look.
“What?” he asked innocently.
“May I talk to you outside, Remus?” she asked coldly. Everyone stared at her suspiciously. George pecked her cheek, but didn’t dare ask. Remus nodded feebly, looking quite guilty.
She led him to the backdoor and walked to the fence. Then, she rounded on him.
“What did you do?” she asked coldly.
“I don’t know what you mean,” he replied quietly.
“Oh don’t give me that load of dragon dung, Remus. What happened between you and Tonks?” she asked, her face hard.
“Well, I—Er—I just—We’re,” he stuttered. Emily put her hands on her hips and raised her eyebrows. Remus looked down quickly, not wanting to see her fury.
“You two seemed great when you danced at the wedding. What happened?” Emily asked.
“I’m not right for her, Emily. I’m too old and broken. She deserves someone young and whole, and I’m not it,” Remus said. He sat down on the grass, pulled his knees up to his chest, and buried his face in his hands.
“You’re not too old. And Remus, she’s the glue that could piece you back together. It doesn’t matter what you think of yourself, it’s not going to change her mind. She wants you, not someone else,” Emily said softly as she sat beside him.
“I’m not going to ruin her life, Emily. Case closed. Don’t bring up this subject again, is that understood?” he asked.
“Fine, for now at least. It’s still not completely dropped,” she replied in frustration.
Emily stood up, offering her hand to Remus. He took it and they both walked back to the kitchen. Everyone could sense their tension and decided not question them. Everyone ate the fantastic dinner that Mrs. Weasley spread out and then retired to the living room for tea.
After the night was over, Emily, George, and Fred returned to their flat, joking and laughing the whole time.
