Background: Layla was born into a broken home though her mother tried early on to make up for what was missing. Peyton Rowan fell in love with a mysterious man from a neighboring clan and the two were quickly married. However, the happy union was short lived. When Peyton found out she was pregnant she told her husband expecting a happy celebration, instead she was greeted with his furious anger and icy scorn. He left her that night without a word or a backwards glance and has never been heard from again. Peyton refused from that heartbreaking night to expose her daughter to the awful truth, at least not all of it. Layla guessed at an early age that he had left them but her stubborn mother kept his name a secret, one she took to her grave.

Layla and her mother lived out a happy life until the summer she turned 13. Peyton’s mother was killed by a human hunter while the two were running through the forest in their deer forms. Layla saw everything, was witness as the hunter came upon his kill and field dressed it. From that moment on a fierce and burning hatred bloomed within Layla and her innocence died in its intense flames.

Layla couldn’t stand to be in the house she had shared with her mother so she packed up everything that was useful and left the village. After a couple months of wandering she found a nice isolated place not far from the main town of her people. She only goes into town from time to time, preferring to stay by herself.

Personality: Layla is an extremely independent and strong willed woman. She doesn’t suffer idiots or fools and has no qualms about speaking her mind. There are few people who can get past her gruff exterior and she prefers to keep it that way. Layla is a deeply troubled individual. Her mother meant everything to her and since her death she had been quiet and reserved. Keeping her emotions mostly to herself she is adept at reading others, a trait she has put to good use. She doesn’t suffer fools, and considers kindness and forgivness weaknesses. Her demeanor is always calm and collected but she does have a temper, once ignited will show the true depth of her cruelty and rage.

Abilities: Layla developed a deep connection with nature and the animals within it. She can often read animals and sense their intentions as well as send them impressions allowing her to communicate with them.
