New post!
Emily walked down the hall after breakfast, deciding that she could get a bit of light reading done by the lake. She rounded a corner when she heard voices. She, mentally kicking herself for knowing, recognized the first voice as Draco. She halted in the hallway, wondering what he was up to. She was furious at him for what he had done to Alicia. She nearly hunted him down last night to kill him, but Alicia stopped her. Fury rising up in her belly, Emily came around the corner. She noticed Alicia and Jamie and decided to back them up. She walked over to them, glaring at Draco.
“I feel slightly sorry about that, you know... It slightly ruins your pretty looks,” Draco said to Alicia. He glanced at Emily, but didn’t linger. Alicia snarled at him for half a second before changing tactics.
“Draco, please just give me my wand...” she said softly. Both Jamie and Malfoy stared at her.
Emily stared at her, understanding her tactics. But Emily didn’t stop her glare. He wasn’t getting off that easily, but she mentally promised herself that she’d wait until Alicia was done with her plan.
“Using first names now?” Malfoy sneered as Jamie threw Alicia a confused look.
“Yes... Draco, I'm sorry for whatever I've done to upset you... I'm sure you know that I didn't mean it,” she said, stepping forward.
“We'll see how much you mean that last statement... You and your blood traitor—” Jamie stiffened as Malfoy motioned to him with his chin.
“Meet me in the forest tonight and we'll see who's that forgiving,” he spat before putting the wand back in his pocket and disappearing into the crowd.
Emily huffed. She glanced at Alicia and Jamie, who were turning around to leave. She couldn’t believe Alicia was going to let him go like that.
Alicia can handle this situation however she wants, as can I, Emily thought.
“Oy, Malfoy!” Emily shouted, following him through the crowd. He stopped and turned slowly. The crowd backed up, giving them a lot of room. Draco stared at her apprehensively. Emily noticed that he actually looked nervous.
“What do you want, Black?” he spat. Whispers flew all around. She could only imagine the things they were coming up with.
Emily walked up to him, anger very relevant in her eyes.
“How could you?” she spat. No longer able to control her anger, Emily pulled back and slapped Draco across the face. He staggered back a few steps, clearly surprised. She had only slapped him once before—the night they broke up.
“She deserved what she got!” Draco sneered after he recovered.
Emily was furious.
“Who are you?” she whispered dangerously.
Draco took a step forward and even had the nerve to cup her cheek in his hand.
“Draco Malfoy, love,” he whispered as he drew closer to her.
Emily’s breath caught. She pushed him away from her.
“The Draco Malfoy I knew and loved would never have done that,” Emily whispered.
Everyone around the two started buzzing, secrets flying everywhere. Their relationship had been a secret, on the down low. Only Alicia and Jamie knew about it—Alicia was the only one Emily trusted with her secrets and Jamie was told after all that happened. Draco glanced down, and then looked up at her darkly.
“If you loved me, then why did you leave me?” he asked with disdain.
“Maybe I left because of the monster you were becoming,” Emily spat back.
“If you want someone to blame for creating this ‘monster’, then look in the mirror, Black! You did this the moment you said goodbye!” Draco shouted at her.
“I don’t believe that,” Emily whispered.
“Believe what you want, it’s just the truth,” Draco said quietly.
“Why do you want Alicia so much anyway?” Emily asked.
“Maybe because I actually like her,” Draco said quietly.
“There’s more to it than that, Draco, and I know it. I told you once before. Mess with my friends, and you’ll be sorry.” Emily turned around and headed back to Gryffindor tower.
So much for reading, she thought dryly.
Emily returned to the Gryffindor tower. Alicia, Jamie, Ginny, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were all huddled together by the fire, talking in hushed whispers.
“Am I allowed to hear?” Emily asked quietly, looking at Alicia. Alicia glanced at Jamie, who wouldn’t meet Emily’s eyes. Alicia pulled away from the group and dragged Emily over to the window by her elbow.
“We’re going to the forest tonight to get my wand from Draco. It’s going to end in a fight,” she whispered.
Emily huffed, irritated.
“There has to be another way, Ali,” Emily whispered, staring at a spot on the wall.
“There is no other way, Ems,” Alicia said, her hair turning darker as she thought about the Slytherin.
“I can’t fight him, Ali,” Emily whispered after a few moments’ silence.
“I know.” “Can you do it without me?” she asked quietly. Alicia nodded slowly.
“Jinx him for me,” Emily grinned.
“Oh, you can count on it,” Alicia grinned back.
Instead of joining the others by the fire, Emily went up to her dormitory and sprawled out across her bed while the others planned their attack.
