Blonde&Proud Sirius Sense of humor

OOC:

Ferris turned to Vianna as she spoke, mentioning the idea that they might've had a problem. He gave a weak cuckle at this, intwining their fingers as they started down the road. "Yeah, you might be right..." he murmured softly. Why hadn't he considered this?! Of course they wouldn't be able to communicate, they didn't speak Greek! He mentally smacked his own forehead once more, though his brown eyes were on the people around them, curiously taking in the sight of everything around him. "Wizard's Chess seems to be pretty popular..." the young man said with an almost longing in the very back of his brown eyes. But he loved Wizard's Chess! In fact, he still argued with Vianna about it being a sport, just like they had on the very first day they met... Before he could get too caught up in memories, the young man suddenly found that he was stepping on something. He paused, holding Vianna back from walking as he looked under his shoe to see a crushed white knight, groaning in pain at being snapped in half (as it was obviously magical). "Oh," he said with furrowed brows, looking around only to see a young boy around the age of five who was staring at him as though he'd just slapped Santa Claus in the face. "O-Oh! I'm sorry!" Ferris immediately said, suddenly having minor flashbacks to when he was a kid, learning how to play the game from Mr. Nordoff. He released Vianna's hand and picked up the groaning, overdramatic chess piece in his large pale hand as he hesitantly started to walk towards the kid who was sitting by the board with a few other kids and a number of older grandparents around eating and drinking. But the whole street seemed to be watching him now, as though picking up the chess piece seemed to alert every single one of them that there were new people in the town.

Ferris gave a sheepish chuckle at the audience before turning to the young boy who looked as though he was close to tears. "Oh...oh, don't cry," he pleaded softly (even though the Greek boy obviously couldn't understand him) with a weak chuckle as he got down on his knee to better face the kid who was still a couple feet away. But he didn't want to scare him, especially since the young boy didn't seem to know English, as he replied in stuttering Greek. Ferris hesitated a moment before pulling out his wand and sharing a glance with Vianna before turning his brown eyes back to the tanned little boy before him as he did a silent charm that he'd researched in his sixth year at Hogwarts. With his wand at the ready, the white knight slowly came back to life, small sparkles of gold glitter (for show, of course, Ferris added it to amuse the young boy) surrounding the knight as he got back onto his horse with a bit of a grin, looking even better than he had before.

The little boy gasped at the sight, green eyes widening as he watched this before turning back to Ferris with a look of disbelief. And just in that moment, all of the little kids around starting running towards the young English boy, each holding little chess pieces that were roughed up and needed sparkles as well. "O-Oh! Alright, alright," Ferris said between soft chuckles, flashing all of them a warm smile as he took another piece into his hand. The adults around them were laughing, smiling as their originally tentative expressions faded away, obviously amused to see this gangly pale boy being nearly knocked over and surrounded by nine or ten tanned, excited children speaking a different language. But most of the people in that small town stuck to basic magic, they'd never delved wholeheartedly into spellbooks like Ferris had in order to learn that sort of complicated spell. It amazed both the children and adults.
