Personality

Even though he is considered rather odd by people because of his uncommon interests, Leonard is a respected person as he knows how to respect and admire every living thing in the world and with his determination to find and do what is right without letting anything interfere with it. One can never find this man grumpy, aggressive or angry because somehow he always finds something to smile at into everything. He is carefree, cheerful and very confident with a taste for competition.

History

Leonard was born in Aberdeen, Scotland to the Herbologist couple Walter and Sabrina Murdoch along with his twin brother; Waylon. From an early age he had started to develop his love for the mother nature, watching and wanting to follow his parents’ steps. As a little boy, he was always driven by his curious nature and liked to examine the plants his parents looked after in the greenhouse. Since his brother seemed to have the same interest too, the two could always be found in the greenhouse trying to be able perform what their mummy and daddy did. However, as time passed, little Leonard discovered that something took his attention and interest more than the plants did; what squirmed into, about and around the plants: Insects.

With utmost curiosity, the boy started to collect and examine every kind of bugs he could find around wondering why most people did not like them. He felt sorry for the little creatures for he believed they were actually the ones to be admired to. Lead by familiar thoughts and ideas, Leonard, then, started to get involved with the other animals that most people did not like; like the reptiles, and the animals that generally preferred to be out of human gaze; those that were active during the night.

When finally the year for him to start his magical education at Hogwarts came, the boy was very excited and enthusiastic about everything he was going to experience there. However when the Sorting Hat surprisingly placed him into Gryffindor, he tasted the first utter disappointment in his life for he wanted to be in Hufflepuff like his brother and, of course, like his parents had been. That was why the first two years in Hogwarts had been very difficult for him. He spent most of those two years getting more and more upset about being different than the rest of his family and being jealous of his brother.

Later then with his parents’ and head of house’s helps and encouragements, Leonard slowly learned to accept that being different was not something bad at all. He even started to like it and showed a surprisingly fast progress with developing a cheerful and confident personality. Once the problem had been dealt with, he lost no time to go back to do what he liked to do most so he slowly got popular with his uncommon love and interest for those animals 98% of people considered gross. As he grew up, he also became popular among girls yet never had had a long lasted relationship because of the way he liked to freak girls out by throwing bugs into his mouth. His friends in Gryffindor, though, had always found him the most entertaining.

As he did in his social life, Leonard took his professors’ attention with his skills at Transfiguration and Care of Magical Creatures. Also he was chosen as the seeker for Gryffindor Quidditch team in his fourth year. His presence in the team had hardly anything to do with the love for sports, though. He was frequently heard talking about how he thought the snitch was like a large golden fly not a little bird. He was not the fastest seeker in the school. But the bee-like buzzing the snitch let out while flying around triggered the boy’s interest for chasing things and competition. So, he was the one that never gave up the struggle.

Leonard just kept having fun with his school life and interest until his sixth year during which something very important had happened to him. One day in Herbology, he caught two younger kids meanly picking off the beautiful wings of a large butterfly. His anger at the kids were intense however how sorry he felt for the butterfly was even more intense. During the rest of the class, he had tried to help and keep the butterfly alive but tragically the beauty died. At that very moment, Leonard knew what he wanted to do; he was going to be a vet and was going to dedicate himself to saving and helping the insects and animals in this world.
Very determined at that, he immediately went to study veterinary for both magical and mundane creatures at two different universities in London. While doing so he, of course, had not abandoned his special interest and once he was finally and successfully graduated from veterinary school, he started to travel around the world with one of his tutors from the university. He spent more than 5 years studying Entomology, Apiology, Helminthology, Arachnology, Herpetology, Myrmecology and a bit of more Mammalogy. Once he was satisfied enough with his progress, he went back to England looking for a job that he would be happy and comfortable with.
