Several
Harry Potter actors were nominated for British Academy Television awards this year, including Julie Walters, Helena Bonham Carter, Kenneth Branagh, Brendan Gleeson, and John Hurt. The ceremony took place tonight, which Julie, Helena, and John attended, and Julie and Ken Branagh came out as winners. Julie won the
Leading Actress award, over other nominees including Helena, for her role in the biopic
Mo; while Ken, beating Brendan and John, got the BAFTA as
Lead Actor for his work in
Wallander.
Photos of Julie, Helena, and John from tonight's event can be found in our
galleries.
UPDATE: Julie Walters' acceptance speech has been uploaded by the BBC, in which she gives accolades to Helena, whom, as she jokingly said, she killed a few weeks ago with a wand on the
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows set. That can be seen here.
Congratulations to Julie and Ken on their incredible achievements!
