Love makes a Family

Harry sat on Ron’s bed, watching his best friends fret over plans on the year or years to come.

“See, mate, you should have known from the beginning that we’d be with you until the end,” said Ron, talking with a mouth full of apple.

Hermione shot Ron a look of disgust over the giant pile of books in front of her, but then continued sorting them. Harry opened his mouth, but Hermione intervened.

“Look. There is no point in arguing. We’ve had our minds made up for some time now. Face it, Harry. We’re a family.”

Family. That word hit Harry like a brick. Frustrated with himself as tears formed in his eyes, he stood and looked out of the attic window.

“You’re right,” Harry said. “You’re the only family I’ve ever had.”

Hermione smiled, and Harry could see tears in her eyes. Ron chuckled, and then went to Hermione to comfort her.

There was a creak from somewhere outside of the room. Mrs. Weasley bustled in, furious that they had finally managed to congregate.

Well, at least she’s not angry with me for being me, he thought, remembering his horrible times with the Dursley's.
