Alrighty, here's the new post

“Hey, I’m glad you came. I’m sorry I couldn’t come sooner. My dad was getting suspicious, but he finally came ‘round.” Draco stood there in front of her, a smirk on his face, his hands buried in his pockets, shivering madly.

“Brings back memories, doesn’t it?” Emily asked with a grin. She held up the blanket for him to get under and he didn’t hesitate. He snuggled up under the blanket beside her. “What did you tell your dad?”

“I told him that I was going out with Pansy and then staying the night at Zabini’s. He was pleased I was finally making an effort with Pansy’s and mine relationship,”
he said disgustedly. Emily laughed at him and he looked at her crossly.

“What’s so funny?” he asked.

“I forgot how cute you looked when you were frustrated,” Emily responded with another laugh. Malfoy smiled at her.

“I’m cute, huh?” he asked, while getting closer to her.

“Sometimes,” she answered.

“When am I not cute?” he asked.

“When you’re being a complete jerk,” she said. He stopped moving closer to her and gave her an apologetic frown.

“I’m sorry about everything that happened, Emily.”

“Like?”

“Like the fight we had. I shouldn’t have gotten—I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but—jealous of Weasley. I should have just enjoyed the time we had together. I’m sorry for cursing him and yelling at you. You have no idea how much I wish I could go back in time and change everything. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me, Ems. I want that part of my life back. I want you back."

“Draco,”
Emily whispered.

“Ems, just hear me out. I’ll change. I’ll be different. We can even go out in the open if you want. We don’t have to hide it. I’ll apologize to Weasley and your Godfather and anybody you want me to.” Draco looked at her pleadingly.

“What about me?” she asked.

“What...what do you mean?” he asked.

“Don’t I get a say in this?”

“Of course you get a say in this,”
said Draco. He looked at her with a longing.

“Draco, I want to believe you, but you told me you’d change once before and that didn’t turn out so great.”

“But it will be different this time.”

“How? How will it be different?”

“Because I know what’s at stake and what I’m not willing to lose.”

Emily stood up, throwing the blanket aside. She walked towards the shoreline. The waves crashed against her shoes, making them wet. Draco had followed her. Turning her around, he bent his head lower to look her straight in the eye.

“Why are you so reluctant?” he whispered.

“Because I’m afraid,” she whispered back.

“Afraid of what?”

“I’m afraid to fall for you again, Draco Malfoy.”
She looked up at him, tears overlapping her lids. Her hair hung loosely behind her, flaying in the wind.

He cupped one of his hands around her cheek, his other taking her hand. “Don’t worry, I have wings,” he whispered. He kissed her cheek and pulled her closer to him. He kissed her hair and held her as she cried silently into the crook of his neck.

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,” she whispered into his shoulder. “Please don’t hurt me, Dray.”

“I wouldn’t dream of it,”
he said quietly.

Emily pulled back to look at him. He smiled sheepishly. Maybe he can change, she thought. He can change, can’t he? He reached down toward her. His eyes locked with hers and there was no looking away, no turning back. There was only the future left to unfold. The past didn’t matter. His lips brushed against hers and she got the usual sinking feeling she felt when he kissed her. Emily pulled her hands through his silky hair and knotted them there. His minty breath washed through her mouth as her lips parted. She felt happy for once in weeks. She felt really happy. She had this nagging feeling in the back of her head that she wasn’t completely, one hundred percent happy, but at least she felt happiness. And then there was the voice that kept telling her that she was betraying George. Draco had tried to curse him. And not with just any curse, but an unforgivable curse. So, how is it that when he used an unforgivable curse, she was able to forgive him? She didn’t have the answer, which did frighten her. But at this moment in time, when she was kissing Draco Malfoy passionately, she didn’t try to figure out the answer. She kissed him back without a care in the world.

That was the thing about Draco. Nothing else in the world mattered when you kissed Draco Malfoy. When he takes your breath away, he takes everything with it. He takes the worry, the stress, the heartbreak, and the pain; everything. All you can feel is the knot in your stomach and his lips on yours. And that’s exactly what Emily felt. She was in an imaginary world where only he and she existed, and it was bliss.

That night, Emily and Draco slept under the tree on the beach, under the blanket, in each other’s arms. Emily was snuggled up to Draco’s side, her head on his chest. Though it was freezing outside, she was comfortable and warm. She was dreaming of another tree in the moonlight with a certain boy. Emily awoke with a start when her and the boy kissed. She was breathing heavily and her heart was racing. Emily lifted her head off of Draco’s chest and glanced at him. He barely stirred. Emily wiggled out of the blanket, trying to be gentle enough not to wake Draco.

Walking toward the shoreline, Emily hugged her shoulders. It was much colder without Draco’s arms around her. She plopped down on the sand, pulling her legs up to her chest, resting her chin on top. She glanced up at the stars and then stared off into the colliding waves. She thought about the dream, the boy, the tree, the kiss. She seemed to always be in the same situations. What was it with her and trees, exactly? Emily let a tear escape as she thought about the emotions she felt in her dream-kiss. It was one of the most perfect kisses. It was too perfect for words. But not perfect enough, because it was a dream-kiss. If only it could be true, Emily thought. She heard stirring behind her, but didn’t turn around.

“Hi, sweetheart,” Draco said, placing his arm around her while sitting down. He put his head on top of hers, kissing her hair in the process.

“Hey,” she whispered. She closed her eyes at the warm feeling his hand let off. Sighing, she opened her eyes again. “I need to talk to you, Draco,” she whispered.

Draco was silent for a few moments. He denied what his gut was telling him. He looked off into the distance, his head still on top of hers. “It’s him, isn’t it?” Draco whispered.
