Standing tall, Preston looked down sternly at the boy, waiting for him to either explain himself or leave.
That was exactly what Jake had been waiting for. The boy took both of his bandaged hands out of his pockets before kinda sorta interlocking his fingers and resting them over his small stomach. At first he shrugged, but then, at the possibily that somehow news of any bad behaviour would result in a letter going back to his parents (who weren't exactly most pleased with him after this summer), the boy leant his head back and spoke his name quietly.
"Upstead."
Stupid name tied him to his stupid dad and GRRRRR! He wanted to use his NEW family name.
When the guy spoke again, seeming to get a little more het up, Jake twitched the corners of his mouth into a little smile and sat a little straighter.
"You muhh-mean to ssssay you're tttrying to stop me learning, ssssir? When I g-go out of mmmy way to ssseek new knowledge, I'm nuhh-not allowed?" Jake shrugged his shoulders and leant back again.
"Wwwhat's so bbbad about the theory of T-t-transssfuhh-...fffig'ration."
Stupid stupid STUPID WORD! It ruined his flow, man.
