He wondered if it was just a part of soothing, or if she really meant it. He wanted to believe her, so he just took the words in the meaning they sounded. And he managed to really smile for a short time at Ella's response. He was now pretty sure that these girls were nicer than he first thought. He gave a weak smile. Those were like the first compliments he'd heard in a few months. "Thanks." he muttered, and was on his way to lean back once again when he heard the thing about Marie. He froze for a split second before his head reached to the back of the couch. He narrowed his eyes once again. "She didn't talk bad?" he repeated, even though he'd heard quite well. He let out a deep, slightly angered breath. This was good news, should be good news, but he somehow couldn't bring himself to feel so. This was just nonsense! She was so mean to him, storming out and stuff, and normally, people would talk bad about people they treated badly, wouldn't they? But Marie was just acting weird. If she was so angry, why not telling a bit to her friends? And if she was not, why dumping him? He closed his eyes for a second. Enough of Marie. Seriously. The more he thought about her, the more confused and angry he got. He'd had a pretty bad summer already, he didn't want to have a bad train journey, like it'd started with an argument. Shaking his head, he said "Then, can we just not talk about... that specific person, please?" That evil called Marie Salazar?

She was sure that Marie and Ella had grown closer whilst she was away. Maybe Marie had taken her spot in her other besties life too. She wasn't sure and didn't even want to think about it. She thought so much about her besties while away, but did they think of her as much. The feelings of inadequacy were coming back again, shaking her head she looked back to Evan and pushed her feeling aside. "Yes, can we not talk about that person right now?" she nodded. She was feeling a lot better before the mention of that person had come up. To be honest, she had almost forgotten her hurt until the name was mentioned. She had spent the last few weeks stewing over her emotions and here she thought she had some control over it, but here they came again and she didn't have the energy to fight them down. If they continued on this path, she was bound to say things she didn't mean and things no one needed to know. The anger would probably be rather damaging and she didn't want to lose her friend or even put her in the middle of something. Shaking her head, she looked to Ella and gave her a smile before looking back to Evan. "So Evan, you heard about my summer," she laughed softly. "How was yours and how was last term?" she asked as she now remembered him clearly from last term and all. She was aware of his absence from school and kind of wanted to know more about him now.
Ella shrugged.
"I didn't hear her say anything bad about you." And it was true. All Marie had seemed was disappointed. She hadn't talked to her as much as Carter had, and now
this. But she nodded as Evan said not to talk about her. Good idea.
"How was your summer?" she asked him. If she asked Mina he'd probably put on that bored face again. She'd ask her about that later. Ella had missed Mina a lot over the summer, missing her being with her every day. Even though meeting Marie was something new, she couldn't take the place of her best friends. Because her best friends were always with her, from the beginning. They had just spent time together that other friends hadn't. Ella wanted to make sure Mina knew that. But that was later. Ella got reminded by Mina's question that Evan had gone to some sort of soccer or some other camp.
"Yeah, where did you go? Was it a soccer camp?" Her eyes lit up interestedly. Soccer was awesome. But even if it wasn't soccer, sports were always fun. She always thought it was odd that she liked so many sports when Hunter always called her a girly-girl. She was both, then.
