She wasn't one to buy into the gossip that was floating around Hogwarts, but she knew about how Carter had spent so much time with Marie. Helping her with this and that. She remember how for what left like months, it was just herself and her loneliness when Carter, her bestie was off with another girl. The twinge of jealous was there again. It was her constant companion now and she always tried to push it down, but at the moment she didn't want to.

Gaining her senses again, she looked over at Ella and got up, moving to sit beside Evan. Reaching her hand up, she rested her hand on his back and gave it a slight rub. She wasn't sure it was welcome but she wanted to tr to comfort him. She kind of understood how he felt, well in her own little way that was. "It's okay, Evan." she said softly. "You know sometimes, I feel like shouting too." she offered as she gave his back another slight rub. Boy did she know how much she wanted to shout about the whole thing. She hadn't even talked to anyone but Kai about it and that was the day she found out at Carter and Marie's kiss. "And for your information, I have yet to find an evil and selfish Slytherin boy and I dount it will start with you. I can't say the same about the girls in your house, save for Kiri that is." she added with a caring smile.

She looked over at Mina, then back at Evan. "I didn't know any of that," she told him lightly, not angered. She knew how it felt to be hurt that way, and she wouldn't blame him. She nodded as Mina spoke. "I don't think so either. I haven't met a mean Slytherin guy to date either." Girls, sure. Not guys though.

She thought it would be too bold of a move to rub his back like Mina was, so she decided to just put her hand over his for a second. He was older than her, which made it seem a little odd, but nothing too weird. She looked back at Mina and then him again. "Marie hasn't said anything bad about you to me or anyone I know." All I know is that your her ex. Nothing really besides that. And what was with Carter always with Slytherin girls..? It was all so confusing, like whose side she was on. Marie was always nice to her, and Evan hadn't said anything to her that made her dislike him. Staying neutral, then.
Evan could have leaned on and hugged Mina, if it wasn't inappropriate and if they were close friends. She did know how to soothe someone. Although being rubbed by a total stranger would have annoyed him, it felt pretty good right now. He looked up when she said it was OK. He wondered if it was just a part of soothing, or if she really meant it. He wanted to believe her, so he just took the words in the meaning they sounded. And he managed to really smile for a short time at Ella's response. He was now pretty sure that these girls were nicer than he first thought. He gave a weak smile. Those were like the first compliments he'd heard in a few months. "Thanks." he muttered, and was on his way to lean back once again when he heard the thing about Marie. He froze for a split second before his head reached to the back of the couch. He narrowed his eyes once again. "She didn't talk bad?" he repeated, even though he'd heard quite well. He let out a deep, slightly angered breath. This was good news, should be good news, but he somehow couldn't bring himself to feel so. This was just nonsense! She was so mean to him, storming out and stuff, and normally, people would talk bad about people they treated badly, wouldn't they? But Marie was just acting weird. If she was so angry, why not telling a bit to her friends? And if she was not, why dumping him? He closed his eyes for a second. Enough of Marie. Seriously. The more he thought about her, the more confused and angry he got. He'd had a pretty bad summer already, he didn't want to have a bad train journey, like it'd started with an argument. Shaking his head, he said "Then, can we just not talk about... that specific person, please?" That evil called Marie Salazar?
